This statement by Mitt in Iowa a few days ago should have sparked a violent overthrow of the American Government by WE THE PEOPLE by now. That it has not is of concern. (It has not even become a core issue here at DU, a community that strives to be WELL INFORMED and to dig a few layers deeper than the CORPORATE PRAVDA that passes for main stream news these days.)

The well educated, well informed, hard working, American Political History and Constitutional EXPERT THOM HARTMANN has had a lot to say about "corporate personhood" over these recent years. Here's what he had to say after the passage of the Supreme Court CITIZENS UNITED ruling, which history may show eventually to be one of the most UN-AMERICAN RULINGS by the SC of the last 100 years!

It is not the best vid, it is one of many, and is here to allow a start for you all to look into all that Thom has said about the subject.

As I can explain it (and it's obvious I ain't no Thom Hartmann), the SC ruling after the Civil war intended to put into law that black people are 100% citizens back around 1867, was used as a legal loophole for a SC decision in the 1890's in Union Pacific Railroad vs. Santa Clara County to bestow the rights of an American Citizen HUMAN BEING on a Corporation. The use of this concept, that appears to have never been challenged that much in the subsequent centuries, is based on the work of some OBSCURE COURT CLERK, that wrote in the borders of some SC transcriptions/records something that made it appear that the SC had legally determined that CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE. They have never made such a decision, perhaps until the recent Citizen's United?

So the Citizens United decision of January 2010 is now being used as a virtual NUCLEAR BOMB in the CORPORATE EFFORTS to capture our entire apparatus of government, to use the entire fucking government of the US to further their own pursuit of money at the expense of the BASIC CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS of the entire population of America!

Mitt blurting this out confirms this is how the rich and powerful currently view their class vs. average citizens. Corporations, which they run and own, have super-rights, that go well beyond the rights of us average citizens.

That is as un-American as it could possibly get and is so blasphemous that all our Founding Fathers are probably spinning in their graves at about 30,000 RPM.

FASCISM IS HERE in America, RIGHT NOW, and the mechanisms for a TOTALITARIAN POLICE STATE are either in place, or being put in place right now.

If WE THE PEOPLE DON'T MANGE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PRETTY FUCKING SOON, we'll all be nothing more than CORPORATE SERFS working on the COMPANY PLANTATION, only with indoor plumbing and IPADS this time.

Legally undoing "corporate personhood" I think would go a long way towards redirecting America back to the wonderful concepts our Founding Fathers gave to us so that we can do what all people want, the opportunity to enjoy LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. I also think it is one of few ROOT CAUSES of our current dilemma, as it has allowed our entire government to have been purchased outright by the rich and powerful.

Things are pretty fucked up when it appears that Corporations, an abstract entity that is a concept, not flesh and blood, seem to be enjoying super-rights well beyond those remaining rights that us flesh and bone people still have. (We've lost a few more basic Constitutional Rights only in the last decade)
