Said it before and I'll say it again.

I'll believe that retaining any vestiges of the post-war education system is valid when I see politicians - and parents - campaigning to preserve and expand Secondary Modern Schools.

Let us not forget that one of the major reasons for the switch to comprehensive education was that it gave middle class kids who would have failed the 11+ access to a free academic education.
