I'm not very happy with Obama lately and the lack of spine by federal level democrats (although, WI democrats give me reason to be optimistic), but the thought of one of the right wing extremist loonies taking over is absolutely a non-starter.

I just think about a Scott Walker as the President.

I've seen him ruin Milwaukee County, ruin our State, a few more levels would be a disaster!

Even though Obama is not perfect and he does deserve the criticism we give him, that I give him, I will support him and vote for him.

If spending money equals Free Speech, and Corporations which on average, have more money than a person and while that Corporation which is treated with nearly the same rights as a living breathing American; Does this not mean the quantity of free speech you have now can be equated with the amount of money you have?

Why are corporations and special interests groups, who are not living people, nor actual citizens, have nearly the same free speech rights as I have as a living breathing individual American? Why does Exxon or the AFL-CIO given the same rights that I have other than voting?

Of course with the Corporate Friendly Supreme Court, I’m sure voting rights for corporations are just around the corner.

Could this have been the reason WHY corporations and special interests were regulated in the first place, because they do not share the thing the 350 million + American’s share in common: That we are living sentient beings who not only aspire to live a comfortable life and make money like corporations, but that we love, eat, and Die..., we are creatures of biology and our environment and not a construct of a man-made economic system that does not require Oxygen to survive.

Can some one tell me when Exxon had to go bankrupt to treat the lung cancer it got? Or when Exxon willing paid the Families in Alaska for the environmental damage for the incompetence of their oil from the Exxon Valdez, rather than going to court to get it fixed in their Favor?

How about when McDonalds Corp had to spend its weekly income on food to feed its 2.3 Children?

Or when DuPont through incompetence, willing and remorsefully, paid millions to the family of the dead in Bapol India?

How about the remorse and sorrow Halliburton felt after its faulty and incompetent wiring of US military bases in Iraq killed US service people?

Or when Blackwater willing gave the victims families millions to make up for their loved ones that were unjustly murdered by its employee’s?

Corporations and Special Interest Groups are “non-living” and are not barred by the frailties of “being alive” that make us human beings, not imbued or burdened with a brain, heart, or conscious, or finite life set by biology or ended prematurely because of disease or violence. The vast majority only strive to perpetuate themselves or for there goals by any means necessary in our “so called capitalist free market”!

We barely have power over Corporations and Special interest groups due to un-fettered lobbying as it was before this decision. You will find out this election season you will now have even less power over your elected officials, and your personal contributions will be dwarfed by the heavy power players, because as we have seen that in order to play the game of politics and advertise with ALL forms of media you need millions to win a seat.

I’m all for being civil and respectful of others, you know stuff we learned from Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street, but there comes a time when you have to throw off the gauntlets and stop playing the role of the defender. There comes a time when you have to attack back and go on the offensive.

It’s been said by Rush and other rightwing media mouth pieces as well as many local arch-centrists like Jim Hayett and rightwing extremists like Amy Hemmer that “Liberals are Destroying America!” and we “Are more dangerous than Islamic Terrorist!”

Just think about those accusations and the comparisons made and we’ll get back to it later on. Ask yourself, what are the “real” implications of such statements? What would the logical conclusion to deal with this problem be if these statements were true?

Well, I guess I should be the first liberal to actually admit that we are guilty of destroying America. That’s right the United States of America is being systematically destroyed by human beings and citizens of this country who are Liberal’s. Stop separating us from the political philosophy. Being a liberal is part of my person and my life.

I, Jacob Pickard, a living breathing human who loves, cries, laughs, get mad, and sad; I am a liberal.

….Let me tell you why before you fly off the handle……

……Let me explain the reasons we are destroying the America that the rightwing has loved the past 8 years under GW Bush.

The Republican America that lied us into the Iraq War using the fear of 9/11 as the aggressor nation, the invader, were thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians have been killed.

The Republican America that allowed it’s president to use torture and then defend that torture, ignoring international law and the basic concept of Human rights and American exceptionalsim which up until that point, was held dear and justified our fight against Islamic terrorism.

The Republican America that gutted regulation and gave wall street free reign to destroy itself in an orgy of greed and throw millions of Americans out of work and into poverty and then as a last dagger bailed out their wall street goons with our collected tax money.

The Republican America that even with a congressional Majority from 1995-2006 and the Presidency for 8 years ignored the plight of millions of Americans, left to die and go bankrupt due to the lack of access to affordable healthcare insurance and left at the mercy to the abuses of the for-profit Private Insurance industry.

The Republican America that has let the nation’s infrastructure crumble and our inner cities rot.

The Republican America that empowered the arch-conservative liberal haters to scream, bash, and dehumanize with anybody who disagreed with.

The Republican America with the Republican Congress who rubber stamped the Republican President’s agenda who gladly gave up their constitutional duty of oversight of the executive branch to Party and Ideological Loyalty.

The Republican America who hate’s government so much they are willing to destroy the domestic general welfare of the citizens of this country for their ideology.

Most of all, we are out to destroy the Republican America who’s values have defined that the quantity of Liberty, Freedom, and Political Power and value of an American citizen is equated to our wealth, income, and ideological purity.

Your America was realized with 12 years of congressional control and a Republican President for 8 years. Your America was realized, but now it is being destroyed, and you are scared. Your America has failed.

When accusations of being anti-American and a traitor starting flying if you were against going into Iraq, I laughed it off. When I was called a traitor I laughed it off. Being called socialists, communists, being referred to as Nazi’s, Marxists, baby killers, etc… There’s only so much you can take as a human before the joke grows thin and you realize the people who say these things actually really believe it, then the laughter stops.

Liberals have been accused of everything from supporting terrorists and being baby killers for our support of abortion rights, by the Jim’s and Amy’s of the world who believe they are morally and ethically justified. Through their ideology, religion, which they believe gives them an innate superiority, to throw out basic respect to another persons views and practice treating Liberals and other people who they view as inhuman, subhuman inferior pieces of garbage, not fit for respect.

To the Rush’s, Ann Coulters, and blogger wanna-be’s, “liberals” are nothing more than vermin.

In my last Blog “Real American’s Like You and me”, I wrote it channeling the “Real Americans” as Sarah Palin put it. We all know what she meant. She meant that the “Real Americans” are those who share her religious and conservative values, which leaves everyone else who doesn’t as what? Un-Real Americans!

So as an experiment I put myself in their shoes and took comments that have been said since Barak Obama has been elected, from these blogs to the entire rightwing media landscape and came up with an archetype of a “Real American”. Wasn't it absurd? Could anybody really think that way?

I think I fell short in expressing what Sarah Palin’s, “Real American” archetype hates more than anything else in the world, even more than Fidel Castro or Osama bin Laden.

Simply and sadly they hate Liberals, from the policies we endorse, to the philosophy we live, and the people who are. It’s simple and circular and they need to stop trying to rationalize this hatred and recognize it for what it is.

So did you think about my earlier questions?

What are the implications of such statements?

What would the logical conclusion be if these two statements are true?

These words and statements no matter how momentarily useful to bash me and others: ““Liberals are Destroying America!” and we “Are more dangerous than Islamic Terrorist!” and are “anti-American!”. These statements are Eliminationist rhetoric and this rhetoric leads to dehumanization of the subject and eventual violence against them.

The implication is that Liberals are enemies of this country, as enemies we can be considered combatants and dangerous. Currently our nation imprisons or kills our enemies in other nations, as well as traitors and enemies within if found. The Amy’s and Jim’s of these blogs and the country consider me and anyone who shares my views as an Enemy.

If liberals really are destryoing America, only one logical conclusion can be drawn on how to deal them.

What seems to be the biggest argument and 90% of the time the only argument against a Public Option is that it is “socialized medicine”.

OMG.......Run! The government is going to check your cholesterol and leverage you cheaper pills for your high cholesterol.

NO! I don’t want that option nor do I want other’s to have it either because that’s my tax dollars going to pay for un-insured person’s life style of fried foods (actually it’s mostly genetic) and addiction to high fructose corn syrup.

Of course, we’ll ALL pay for that person’s emergency care and triple by-pass surgery which I am sure will go over $100,000. See the evil’s of socialized medicine! See the Evils of preventative care! See the evils of the government! Even if it is a representative Democracy!

When I hear a Republican or any elected official against a public option, I want them to voluntarily give up their socialized health plan. Private Health Insurance in our “free market system” is one of the only services that are allowed to drop your coverage or deny you service! Any other company which would treat their customers in this way in a “free market” would go out of business quickly.

You have 2 choices in our “free market” 1) hopefully, you find yourself a job with a decent plan, knowing that you can be dropped or denied at any moment for any reason2) Pay for care and medicine out of pocket and pray you stay healthy.

It's just some of my memories and what I thought conservatism meant in the 1990's and what it means today. And how I deal with Bush Nationalist conservatives now.

One would think in today's virulent and seething partisanship that a lefty like myself would actually prefer the hatred by the Rightwing of the Clinton's and anything liberal in the 1990's. In some way's the hatred against Clinton was less destructive and did not have the mantel of executive power to perpetuate it to its constitutionally destructive ends. Sure Clinton had a little military adventurism and Monica, but he didn't lie to invade Iraq, trash the bill of rights, illegally spy on American citizens, okay the use of torture, let the CIA set up secret prisons, radicalize the Department of Justice, raise the national debt, inflate the size of government, etc…….


The primary difference between Bush-era conservatism and Clinton-era conservatism was that the hypocrisy was hidden and we (I) took their conservative rhetoric hook-line-and sinker and I "a dreaded Liberal". I actually took the Newt Gingrich's and Bob Barr's at their word. You know what they said, "Fiscal Responsibility, Personal Responsibility, Against Nation Building, Smaller Government, etc……" In the Bush-era, all of these "so-called conservative" standards that they pushed were all a lie (BTW - Newt and Barr were having affairs of their own during the Clinton Impeachment).


Now, I never turned into a conservative unlike that opportunist cry-baby Charlie Sykes in the mid 90's, but at the time and still at this time some of what they said was right. The one ethic I took most to heart is the ethic of "Personal Responsibility". In a way, the late Clinton period tempered my Liberalism, which I am glad I went through. This period allowed me to actually realize that Bill Clinton as President was wrong, now I don't think his lying about Monica was impeachable, but it was ethically and morally despicable. I will not defend his actions at the time. Nor will I defend Jim Jeffords for taking Bribes, nor will I defend Eliot Spizter, I will not defend politicians or leaders on the left for being hypocrites and liars. I will not defend or rationalize Obama's FISA vote, nor his faith based initiative. In my view they are wrong. I will not defend somebody just because of their political label and party affiliation.


Today this hypocrisy is no longer subterfuge, all of the excuses and scapegoats have been used, all the anger and hatred has become a caricature in popular culture, critics have been beaten into the dirt and lives ruined, the deliberate use of misleading or wrong information to obfuscate reality, the use of seething hateful tactics to destroy ANYBODY who disagrees, to defend blindly these "so-called conservative" ethics, while not living by those standards and ethics themselves. The virulent blind defense of Bush and Republican Corruption is antithetical to the conservative standard of personal responsibility I was reminded constantly by conservatives in the 1990’s.


The conservative standards of personal liberty and responsibility mean nothing in the Bush-era, with this zealotus rage to crush a "liberal" by any means necessary, to defend what irresponsible, criminal, and anti-constitutional actions carried out by the Bush Administration. The win-at-any-cost and power-for-powers-sake philosophy has effectively destroyed what conservatism was supposed to mean in the 1990's. For instance, Kosovo: even though I disagreed with the Republicans in congress they were still loyal opposition and the conservative standard was against Nation Building, and they still were not traitors. Today, Nation building is fine because Bush is president and 9/11 happened???? Hunh??


This hypocrisy is out in the open due to the zealous hatred of critics, the willingness to close eyes and minds to reality, and the willingness to trample over conservative standards for the blind defense of Bush and Republican corruption.


So when I hear people declare themselves as "conservative", I have to ask what kind of conservative?


The one that uses 9/11 as an end-all-be-all excuse for trampling on the bill of rights and constitution and torture or the zealot who's hatred for anybody with a different point of view manifests itself with personal attacks and dehumanization of that person. Or the kind that states "Liberals are as bad as terrorists" or that "Liberals are destroying America!" When I hear these words it is funny in a tragic way, but also impels me to hold these "so-called conservatives" responsible for their actions, hold them responsible for their words.


So this is were it stands, if a statement is made against liberals that has extreme implications, you better be able to back it up with evidence and be able to take responsibility for what you write.


Freedom of speech does not free people from the consequences of the content of what they say. At least this is something I keep hearing from “so-called conservatives.”

....And each time they have failed. They have caved to the Republicans every-time. Last night was the worst, they basically for expedience gave away our constitutional "rights of privacy against un-reasonable government search".

The executive Branch is it's own over-seer. The gave power to people that they SAY have lied us into war for god sake.

I disagree with you. Although, I will do everything that you suggest.

But all of America's power, stolen by those who seek to dominate their view of the world on others, who care-only for power for powers sake, care noting for law or reason or logic.

History has taught us what happens when people like these get a hold of power (Hitler, Stalin, Cesar, etc....) and there is no reason for me to believe that this course is going to change anytime soon.

Democrats never understood that Rich Rethug White Men and Women see Liberals and Democrats as enemies just as much as any Muslim, Black, Mexican, or gay person. They our at WAR with us.

They hate government, they see it as the problem. We think government when yielded correctly by the constitution, can work for the good of every American.

I hope the biggest lesson, when all is said and done, people realize that Politicians and people who HATE government should never be elected INTO government.

These are dark days and their only going to get worse.

I'm not saying I'm giving up. I'll never give up, un-till I am put in a re-education camp and tortured.


I only say this because, with the total spineless failure of the democrats in both the congress and senate to protect our Civil Rights, Bush's dictatorial powers are almost complete.

I see that their actions speak louder than words. This congress is a failure, they've failed us when we've needed them most.

Last week Bush gets on the Pouting Pulpit and says that he will Veto any budget that comes to him that has a non-binding time line for ending the Iraq war. An then goes on to blame the Democrats that if the troops are not funded they will not get the proper training or equipment, even though it is well known that troops have been sent to Iraq without the proper training or armor, before this bill?????

Then it's the Democrats fault for him vetoing the bill (i'm not even going to get into the pork issue). What is Nancy Pelosi going to force Bush to sit in his chair and make him practice his cursive before school or something? As far as I can remember Rethugs have been calling for personal Responsibility.

He also says he'll have to extended troop deployments and that would really hurt him. Funny, there's been so many reports of shortages that troop deployments have already been extended (I didn't hear baby crying then), and TODAY the army announced the deployment extension of 15,000 troops. Not to mention the National Guard units been sent in without proper training.

Then He goes onto scold the Democrats for going on easter break rather than working on a blank check for him to sign (you know they kind without oversight). Right after he gets on plane to go on vacation to his ranch????????????

Do Bush Bashes like me even need to editorialize the blind hypocrisy of this pouting drunk? There's nothing more that I can say, that many of us can say to destroy his credibility; when he does it himself with so much zest and zeal.

Karl Rove Playing Dirty, OMG!

I hope everyone can see now that most of these Dirty Political tricks have been Rove related in the past 6 years.

If it isn't clear, it should be clear now: All of Bushco's Foreign and Domestic Policy is Filtered Through Rove.

Terminating the 8 prosecutors, legal or not, is an extension of the Political arm of the Bush Administration. It's clear by the e-mails that they had political vendetta's against the Prosecutors for either not going after Democrats hard enough or doing their job and going after Republic's as well. I mean God, there's a 3-to-1 investigation rate into Democrats over Public's.
