"When it comes to supporting candidates for public office, the Associated General Contractors of America gives 90 percent of its campaign contributions to Republicans.

And then there is Senator Joseph I. Lieberman.

The group, which represents the construction industry, wrote a $4,000 check last month to Mr. Lieberman, the Connecticut Democrat who is facing a spirited challenge for his party’s nomination from a political novice, Ned Lamont. The money was just a sliver of the $260,000 he has collected from political action committees since March."

"Pro-Israel Groups Rally in Support of Lieberman
HARTFORD, Conn. --Pro-Israel groups, afraid of losing one of their staunchest supporters in Congress, are pouring money into beleaguered Sen. Joe Lieberman's campaign as he tries to fend off a tougher-than-expected primary challenge.

The three-term lawmaker is struggling to dispatch millionaire businessman Ned Lamont in the Aug. 8 primary. Lamont's fierce criticism of Lieberman's backing of the Iraq war and perceived closeness to President Bush have won him followers among hard-core Democrats. The primary is Aug. 8 and Lieberman has said he will run as an independent if he loses.

Pro-Israel political action committees have donated to his campaign and have urged their national membership to give generously now and later, if Lieberman is forced to run as an unaffiliated candidate."

in the CT Senatorial primary.

As is the Isreal Lobby
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discu...

Got a push poll phone call from the town Democratic Committee
on whether I’m going to vote for Lieberman.

Then I get this letter from the town Democratic Committee urging me to
vote in the primaries b/n the State Committee endorsed “Three-term U.S.
Senator Joe Lieberman” who is being challenged.

Then, over the course of the next four days, I’m getting several mailings
from the Lieberman campaign - slick heavy paper multi-page folded
expensive looking things, a prominent half of which is derogatory to
Ned Lamont.

Looks to me there’s a lot of money and lobbyists backing Joe L.

This is why warrantless eavesdropping and data mining of our email and phone calls, and their violation of our Bill of Rights, is
EVIL

This whole business about the Times and the Belgian Banking connection is just a big smokescreen and distraction for the more serious far ranging eavesdropping and data mining w/out any judicial check/balance/warrant!

so where was Rove?

btw, there's a lot of articles out there about how the lobbyists fund the think tanks to influence the ruling government officials, and how Abramoff did it.

never served a day in actual combat or in the armed forces

who pushed the Iraq war on the American people for political gains, and

who, when the chips were down, compromised the identity of another
serving her country, for his own political goals.

And now he has the nerve to throw around the cheap talk about
"cutting and running," and now insulting one of our
combat veterans calling him a coward. What hypocrisy!

position of responsibility for its own nation and it's own citizens.

"Cut and Run" is a lot of chicken hawk talk from a bunch of politicians who never saw a single day's service in actual combat.

Those in the Democratic Party, particularly those of us who have served our nation in combat, know there is a smarter way to effectively deploy our troops. If elected, we will hasten this redeployment with all deliberate speed.

and the AIPAC lobbyists will 'sell' it in Washington

quoting from a related article:

A report by US-based group Human Rights Watch says the deaths were likely to have been caused by Israeli shelling....

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has called for a full independent inquiry into the incident.

The speed with which Israel concluded its investigation underlines the sensitivity of the incident - but whether its findings change any minds is another matter, says the BBC's Nick Childs in Jerusalem.
