If I may add Morris to the discussion. The Brother's Udall were my heroes. I had just graduated from high school when John Kennedy was Elected. And the people he picked for his administration, well as far as I am concerned we have never seen the likes again. I was what you would call a budding environmentalist. Mo and Stewart showed the way to people like myself. And I'm proud to say I have never lost those principles to this day. I'm sorry the Brothers Udall are not with us anymore, but I am sure the seeds they planted in people have grown and spread far and wide. Rest in peace brothers, you lived your lives the way we all should.

Democrats will not get elected if they continue to be "gentlemenly". We all have seen the polls where people SAY they hate negative politics, but they listen to it. I live in PA. There are people who only listen to the political ads. Santorum has been plastering the airwaves with ads. How he is saving SS for the elderly (yeah, right). How is protecting children. How he is protecting our borders. There are people who didn't follow what he has done in the senate, so they think he is fighting for them. Besides that here in the Montgomery Co. area, haven't seen 1 ad by Casey yet. And yes, it is disgusting.

Since I'm probably a lot older than most on this board, my parents, 1st generation Irish Americans, were Democrats, there really weren't any republicans in my large extended family. As far as liberal vs. conservatives, that didn't come into play till later. My Father was a Roosevelt Democrat, New Deal type. The highlight was when Kennedy was elected. I remember my Dad saying with the republicans, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. And that was back before 1956 when he died, when I turned 13. The repugs are still true to that code. Became very active during the Vietnam war, participated in marches to bring our soldiers home. And never, never did I ever see or hear of anyone spit on a soldier. Also participated in civil rights marches. I have 5 siblings, 3 older, 2 younger. All but one is true to the Democratic party, their children are Democrats. My older brother fits the profile of the republican I got mine, the heck with you mentality. I am an environmentalist, believe in animal rights, civil rights, human rights, women's rights, etc.

I've been reading the posts for a long time, but just recently decided to jump in because I've been so angry since Bush was elected, finally decided to at least make my opinions known. I have to add, been angry with the Democrats also. I am one of those who paid her dues in the sixties and seventies. The best time was during the Clinton years, that is other than John Kennedy. Show the vast majority of Americans that saying you are for the troops, doesn't necessarily mean that you are really for the troops. Make the Democratic party, the party of Veterans, which they are to begin with. Just check how many of our Senators and Congressmen are war Veterans. You might be surprised. So why are we viewed as soft on terrorism? BECAUSE WE ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN!

No way! No how~ We have a tremendous number of skilled American workers either unemployed or underemployed. That is where Democrats should be going for support. The economy is in the toilet. Wages have dropped. They are the base.

I don't. Ask the College students who use to make money during the summer for school, working for landscapers mowing grass. Nope, jobs not there anymore. Ask unemployed construction workers who is doing their job. Jobs not there any more. Ask people who use to work as maids at hotels and motels who is doing their jobs now. Jobs not there for them anymore. Just a small listing of jobs. And I haven't even started on the H1B1 visas. Democrats stood up for THESE people, not ILLEGAL immigrants. Notice I said ILLEGAL.

Yes, you are right, Murtha does kick ass. He doesn't waste words like a lot of pussyfoot Democrats. Don't tiptoe around issues. Get out there and hold the republicans' feet to the fire. And I second the Secretary of Defense position for John Murtha.

I live in Montgomery Co. Have seen many ads for Rendell. Have seen TOO MANY ads for Santorum. But I haven't seen one ad for Casey. What gives? I don't like it that the spread has gotten closer between Casey and Santorum. I thought people (voters) would have gotten smarter by now.
