New Hampshire State Representative Jeannine Notter (R-Merrimack) was videotaped during a committee hearing telling cancer patients to drum up "community support" via bake sales to pay for treatment. This was during a hearing for HB 440, a bill that seeks to remove New Hampshire from federal health care reform and join the lawsuit against it.
Did you know that:
** the words "race car" spelled backwards still spell "race car"?
**"eat" is the only word that, if you take the first letter and
move it to the last, spells its own past tense, "ate"?
**if you rearrange the letters in "Tea Party Republicans," and add
just a few more letters, it spells: "Fuck you, you free-loading,
mean-spirited, benefit-grabbing, resource-sucking, global
warming-denying, tax-evading, Wall Street suck-ups, phony religious
hypocrites, lying cheaters and cheating liars, and deal with the fact
that you nearly wrecked the country under Bush and that our new President
is intelligent, thoughtful, and a well educated leader and is trying to clean up
the mess you created, so go fuck yourselves."
Isn't that interesting?

Sheesh, that we would even have to.

Twenty years ago, Professor Hill described how the now Supreme Court justice subjected her to descriptions of pornography he had watched, bragged about his own sexual prowess in graphic terms and famously reached for a soft drink in her office and remarked, "Who has put pubic hair on my Coke?"2
CHARLESTON, West Virginia — The Gospel of Luke records that, as he was dying on the cross, Jesus showed his boundless mercy by praying for his killers this way: "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
Not so fast, say contributors to the Conservative Bible Project.
The project, an online effort to create a Bible suitable for contemporary conservative sensibilities, claims Jesus' quote is a disputed addition abetted by liberal biblical scholars, even if it appears in some form in almost every translation of the Bible.
The project's authors argue that contemporary scholars have inserted liberal views and ahistorical passages into the Bible, turning Jesus into little more than a well-meaning social worker with a store of watered-down platitudes.
"Professors are the most liberal group of people in the world, and it's professors who are doing the popular modern translations of the Bible," said Andy Schlafly, founder of Conservapedia.com, the project's online home.
Experts who have devoted their careers to unraveling the ancient texts of the Scriptures, many in long-extinct languages, are predictably skeptical about a project by amateur translators.
"This is not making scripture understandable to people today, it's reworking scripture to support a particular political or social agenda," said Timothy Paul Jones, a professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, who calls himself a theological conservative.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee: A 70-year-old Nashville man was accused of ramming his sport utility vehicle several times into the back of a vehicle that had a Obama/Biden bumper sticker.
Harry K. Weisiger, a retiree, made obscene gestures and pointed at the campaign sticker for President Barack Obama and running mate Joe Biden before he smashed into schoolteacher Mark Duren's car, police said. Weisiger has been charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of the accident and refusing to take a field sobriety test. The incident appears to be among the overheated partisan political atmosphere, including death threats sent to members of Congress and their families who supported health-care reform. Duren had picked up his 10-year-old daughter from school Thursday when he stopped near the Belmont University campus. An SUV pulled up behind his Toyota Camry and the driver began honking and gesturing angrily toward the bumper sticker,

Did you threaten anyone at FreedomWorks? (Just got this in an email from FreedomWorks).
"Our offices have literally been hammered over the last week by an organized patch-through phone call campaign by MoveOn.org, the Unions, and others that have hit us with phone calls comparing FreedomWorks staff and members to Nazis and issuing profanity-laced verbal assaults including one racist rant leveled at an African American member of our staff. Liberal pundit Rachel Maddow even “declared war” on FreedomWorks’ website, essentially encouraging cyber-attacks by liberal hackers. "
"These dirty tactics by the Left have forced us to beef-up security at our offices and for our website, and even contact the FBI to report some of the more threatening calls that we have received."
"They are even perpetrating outright lies to the media by accusing FreedomWorks of encouraging our members to be unruly and shout-down Members of Congress, not allowing them to speak. This is of course, not true. FreedomWorks prides itself on making sure you, as members, are well informed on the issues, ask tough questions, and get answers to them. We always encourage volunteers to be respectful, but resolute in communicating their positions on important issues."
Hey, I'm going. I get a free hot dog or hamburger. I'll feel like I'm dumpster diving without any hope of coming up with anything good.
"Please help spread the word about the Cap and Tax plot by attending the Energy Citizens’ Rally in Houston, on August 18 at the Verizon Wireless Center. Doors open at 11:30 am and there will be hamburgers and hot dogs for all."

Our schools: Suggested change to curriculum under fire

EL PASO -- Townspeople herald César Chávez as an icon who helped expand educational opportunities for itinerant children and fought for exploited workers.
They know that the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall began his career as a crusading lawyer who helped to desegregate public schools.
Mindful of the accomplishments of Chávez and Marshall, El Pasoans are joining a fight to make sure that Texas public schools keep both historic figures in school textbooks.
U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, and Ysleta school board Trustee Liza Montelongo are among those who wrote letters to the state board of education to argue against deleting references in social studies curriculum to the first black Supreme Court justice and the founder of the United Farm Workers of America.
A pair of expert reviewers hired by the state board suggested that the Chávez and Marshall were not worthy of the attention they received in the state's social studies curriculum.
One of those experts, Peter Marshall, said Chávez and Marshall did not warrant the attention they received in the social studies curriculum.
"To have César Chávez listed next to Ben Franklin is ludicrous," he said in his assessment. "Chávez is hardly the kind of role model that ought to be held up to our children as someone worthy of emulation."
His comments about Chávez and another that referred to Marshall's contributions as "not strong enough" led to a string of angry e-mails and letters from people throughout the country.

The launch of "B'eau-Pal" water came as Bhopal prepares to mark the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal catastrophe, and coincides with the release of an official report by the Sambhavna Trust showing that local groundwater, vegetables, and breast milk are contaminated by toxic quantities of nickel, chromium, mercury, lead, and volatile organic compounds. The report describes how a majority of children in one nearby community are born with serious medical problems traceable to the contamination.
The attractive yet toxic product, developed by the Bhopal Medical Appeal and the Yes Men with pro-bono help from top London creative design firm Kennedy Monk, highlights Dow's continued refusal to take responsibility for the disaster. (Five years ago, the Yes Men impersonated Dow Chemical live on BBC World Television and announced that after 20 years, the company was finally going to clean up its mess in Bhopal. That hoax, which temporarily knocked two billion dollars off Dow's share price, is featured in the Yes Men's new movie, The Yes Men Fix The World, which opens in UK cinemas on August 11.)
Twenty Bhopal activists, including Sathyu Sarangi of the Sambhavna Clinic in Bhopal, showed up at Dow headquarters near London to find that the entire building had been vacated.
Though Dow has consistently refused to clean up the mess in Bhopal, they have taken numerous steps to clean up their image. In a recent press release, for example, Andrew Liveris, Dow's Chairman and CEO, noted that "lack of clean water is the single largest cause of disease in the world and more than 4,500 children die each day because of it." He went on to assert that "Dow is committed to creating safer, more sustainable water supplies for communities around the world."
