Thank you, and welcome to our farewell edition of the awards ceremony in honor of the Occupy DU2ers -- though, of course, it certainly won't be our last!
The last time we held a ceremony against the backdrop of a presidential primary season, both parties had begun the hard slog toward ending up with best nominee. This time around, only the Republicans are in the limelight, and I, for one, am e...

she brought another country music star out of the closet with her...as a bigot. John Rich from the band Big and Rich had a conversation with Wright that seems to show bigotry towards the gay community.
...Wright...was once a sweetheart of the country music world...(R)umors began to spread that she was gay...John Rich reached out to her to tell her about the rumors...(He) asked Wright, “You’re not gay are you? If you are, people won’t have it!” Wright acknowledges that it was the first time she ...

"The more President Obama pushes for the $4 trillion package, the more Boehner retreats from it. The President is finally capitalizing on a phenomenon that has been obvious from the start of his presidency: if he is in favor of something, then the Republicans are opposed -- it's as simple as that. Here is the President embracing the Republicans' number, so now the Republicans must be against their own number. This -- THIS! -- is a work of strategic brilliance by the President."

Casey's track record of lies and excuses go all the way back to her deceiving someone about being Caylee's father -- she was two months pregnant before she even met him.
Casey pretended she had a job, supplemented her income by stealing from her friends, and implicated and defamed an innocent bystander as her kidnapping nanny. A witness has said that Cindy stopped Casey from putting Caylee up for adoption, another says she told him that she sometimes used chloroform to get Caylee to sleep. Wit...

The night of November 9, 1965, one of my aunts arrived home from work at 5PM so exhausted from a double shift she went straight to bed. When she got up the next morning, everyone was talking about some kind of big blackout, and all she could reply was, "Huh?"
The afternoon of August 14, 2003, I drove home early from work, mostly by highway, and was annoyed that the stoplight one block from my home didn't seem to work. When realized that I had no electricity, I went to tell my landlord, who info...

Mark Smith...who is president of the White House Correspondents' Association, acknowledges that he had not seen much of Stephen Colbert...But he says he knew...he would cause some good-natured discomfort among the 2,600 guests, many of them politicians and reporters...
Yeah, right: Smith just happened to be the OUTGOING president of the association, and he knew damned well what kind of farewell present he was leaving -- a big fat turd on the Bush press room's doorstep!
Bonus: I dug up ...

What a long strange trip it’s been since November 4. We lost control of the House. We watched Obama’s moral authority sunset when the Bush tax cuts didn’t. And the memory of Martin Luther King’s assassination has been even further tarnished by the assassinations of the people who were with Gabby Giffords. To make a long story short, I’ve been in a bit of a blue funk.
But two other things have ha...

Homeland Security and the IRS has new rulings and statues that apply to everyone."
So wrote my landlord in a letter about the paperwork that accompanied everyone's 2011 leases. Well, if he really means that, he should have no objection to my not supplying information I would not ordinarily supply to a landlord. In case you can't read the fine print:

Sorry, but because raising the Social Security salary cap, lowering the Medicare eligibility age, and just letting the Bush tax cuts expire are not options, I can't even begin to take this seriously.
Nonetheless, I took a crack at it: (Link)

Rachel Maddow: When Keith spoke out the way he did, he essentially came out of the closet as a liberal, and nothing bad happened. I think it gave network executives some courage…

Eliot Spitzer’s new show isn’t the only thing that’s getting bad reviews — so is his performance between the sheets. “The girls found him to be tedious and mind numbing and just wished the hour was up,” Spitzer’s former madam Kristin Davis told amNewYork Thursday. “That’s sort of how I felt watching the show...It’s pretty sad that CNN has given him a forum to let him influence the lives of others...”
...Davis...(has) thrown her hat in the ring in the New York governor’s race...

Axl Rose, Singer, Guns N Roses. After nearly twenty years, still can't figure out how to get to a gig on time, and still blames everyone else. He should be the poster boy for abusive relationships.

It's very nice seeing But I feel that there's a 500-pound gorilla in the room: the real reason why Americans do not "take" migrant jobs is because they know how badly they would be paid and treated. Americans certainly would take those jobs if they provided worthwhile wages and decent work conditions, wouldn't they?

About four months ago, a piano-playing twelve-year-old from Oklahoma posted three songs on YouTube--two original compositions plus which he performed at his school. Amid the applause, you can hear someone say, "I think Lady Gaga has just been taught a lesson."
Since then, Greyson Chance has racked up thirty MILLION YouTube views and an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show (featuring a phone call from Lady Gaga telling him to follow his dreams and stay away from girls). He is now in Los Ange...

The Republican party is a real-life billionaire's boys club whose sole purpose is to enrich themselves by absorbing all financial and political power. They advocate smaller government only because the smaller the government, the easier it is for them to dominate.
They have become so "for" themselves, they no longer bother deceiving voters with campaign promises they have no intention of keeping. Rather, they invest in obstructing Democratic policies without offering alternatives or improvements...

It's the landlords, mortgage banks, and real estate brokers who should be required check the legal status of their clients. If it's impossible for someone in the country illegally to own, buy, sell, rent, receive, or sublet housing or real estate, the utility companies wouldn't have to get involved at all, which would REALLY help reduce the rates!
Schools should be required to check on the legal status of their students. Hospitals should be required to check on the legal status of their patient...

Allowing and endorsing such contempt and disrespect among his subordinates is definitely an act of contempt and disrespect in itself. He allowed it to happen in the presence of a civilian reporter--it isn't as though he was undercover or hiding behind a dumpster using Mission Impossible-style recording equipment. I don't appreciate his dissing the last of the allies the U.S. has. And this isn't his first offense.
For the record, I was put off by the article's reliance on vague sourcing, specula...
