On how to spot the radical right wing...
...they seem to be scattered around.

There are normal, right wing everyday Republicans who may disagree with you on certain issues and are more conservative. You can have a conversation with them & agree to disagree.

Then, there are the wingnuts... the teabaggers, the birthers, the deathers, the dittoheads, the people who get ALL their news & views from Fox & Rush, believe it as if it came down off the mountain. They think Pres. Obama is a Muslim/Communist/Socialist/Racist that "pals around with terrorists" and wants to kill your Grandma with the guns he took away from you. They think the choice of Sarah for VP was a great idea & running for President an even better one.

They're easy to spot. They're LOUD, obnoxious, ill-informed, dress like they're going on Let's Make a Deal & can't spell for sh*t!! (DUers sometimes refer to them as "Morans," for that reason.)

Hope this helps...

On what will happen at Pres. Obama's meeting w/Intelligence Agencies re: Xmas Day terrorist plot
I imagine he will tell them, in no uncertain terms, that the time for games is over. No more pissing contests between agencies - including foreign ones like Masada & Scotland Yard, etc. ALL terrorist intel shared & compiled in one list in real time. Brilliant people monitoring it 24/7. Use of state-of-the-art technology & the best IT people to use it. If anyone/anything sounds even a little bit hinky, NO FLY, NO VISA, NO ENTRY. Period.

Leon Panetta may have to go. TSA has to get a Director NOW.

You've got to watch out for these quiet types. As I've said before... anyone who 'misunderestimates' our President, does so at their own risk. There's a reason VP Biden says "he has steel in his spine."

On listening to Pres. Obama's speech on Afghanistan first...
...this is not a President who goes off half-cocked. He is thoughtful, measured, smart & privy to much more information than the rest of us.

I'm sure he won't send one troop, spend one dollar or stay one day longer than he feels he absolutely has to.

On a positive note, it seems as if Iraq is starting to draw down.

Keep that whole region in a white light!

In response to an answer to a 'Joe Republican'...
And, Joe... that's not a very patriotic thing to say... shame on you!

& by the way, I'm wondering how it is possible that people who don't want the Government to control them (their words, not mine) have no problem when it comes to control over our bodies &/or in our bedrooms!

I mean, seriously... WTF?!?

After an anxious few months (plus several decades!!) last night the US Congress took the heroic & historical stand to reform our broken healthcare system!!

I want to thank my Rep., Jan Schakowsky, who always does the right thing & always has our best interests at heart. I also want to thank Congressman Joseph Cao for his courage to vote YES, in spite of the huge backlash he will get from his own party. His vote will long be remembered by the rest of us as a Profile in Courage! I believe him when he says he voted his conscience. When Sen. Lieberman says that, it's clear to everyone that what he's really saying is "I'm voting for the corporate interests that fund me." It rings hollow & falls on deaf ears! I pray that Sen. Lieberman truly will find his conscience before any vote goes to the Senate and, at the very least, he allows the debate to go forward.

As someone who was denied coverage for a pre-existing condition and then spent the next five years without any insurance - up until the time my condition became debilitating & I was forced to go on Disability, and was finally able to get the medical care I needed (single-payer, government-run Medicare which, if anyone's interested, works perfectly!)... I know, firsthand, how scary it is to be uninsured & in need of healthcare. I am truly grateful.

I write this for my daughter (who also has a pre-existing condition - a congenital heart defect) who graduated college last year (YAY!!) & immediately lost her health insurance (BOO!!), as well as the 37-million other uninsured or underinsured Americans.

As this issue now heads to the Senate, I hope & pray that each & every Senator (& that includes you, Joe Lieberman!) really do search their consciences and do the right thing for the people of America. NOW is the time to finally bring our country into the 21st Century, be on the right side of history and, yes, honor the memory of Sen. Kennedy, as well.

Susan Danzig

On Congressman Cao's YES vote on healthcare...
Dear Congressman Cao: Don't let the naysayers get you down. What you did today showed real courage & commitment to, not only your constituents, but to all Americans. I salute you & your vote on healthcare reform!! And, if you'd like to become a Democrat, we'd love to have you. There's plenty of Kool-Aid left. I hear it comes in grape now... Big Kudos to you!!

On Maine's losing the vote on gay marriage...
...if I live to be 1,000 I'll never understand how, if a gay couple gets married, it impacts my life one iota.

I seriously do NOT understand why this is such a big issue for people. What the hell are they afraid of? What am I missing? I just don't get it...

Add on to's petition: Joe Lieberman Must Go
Joe Lieberman is a pathetic excuse for a human being. He should be stripped of his chairmanship and thrown out of the Democratic Caucus. He is mean, petty & vindictive. He is not a team player. If he is willing to let the healthcare reform bill tank for his own personal interests, then I have no use for him...

On President Obama & Afghanistan
Knowing that the President is privy to information not available to ANYONE on this site; that he doesn't go off half-cocked & blindly follow one person's recommendation because he doesn't have a grip on the ramifications or understand other perspectives; that everything he does is informed & measured; that he won't spend one more second, one more dollar or send one more troop than he absolutely has to; that he really cares about each & every military person - and their families - and knows he's accountable to them & to us; that he's probably the smartest person in the room, yet has enough self-esteem to be able to ask questions; that he listens to everyone before making up his own mind, etc., etc.

I stand behind the President and trust that he will always act in the country's best interests.

On the British/American Kid Debate
...the American is just using talking points.
I loved the way the British kid was able to explain how someone could be socially liberal AND fiscally conservative, and vice-versa. I forget that, sometimes.
I felt for the British kid & his frustration at the end -- it's hard to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

On someone's frustration w/Pres. Obama re: healthcare
...and everyone's pissed that he's not a Dictator.

Have you not been paying attention these last few months to the healthcare debates in both Houses? It's a f'n nightmare! I hope they finish making this sausage soon because it's a disgusting process to watch.

Why don't you take some of your anger & frustration & aim it at Joe Lieberman?

The President isn't the villain in this opera...

On Generic v. Non-Generic Drugs...
...the only differences between non-generic drugs (the famous ones) & generic ones are TIME, DRUG NAME and, of course, PRICE.
I think the pharmaceutical companies get 10-12 years before they go generic to recoup research, development, focus groups, marketing, advertising, etc. costs.
With Medicare Part D it's the difference in me paying $2.40 or $6 co-pay for a Rx... either way, remarkably affordable! No idea how much it is with private insurance companies, or how these cancer drugs are charged.
It doesn't matter how good healthcare in the US is or how great the drugs are if people can't afford them.
