I'm not the most vocal person in the world...far from it. Additionally I don't tend to state my opinions too often, but I had the need to shoot off an e-mail to the whitehouse.org website today. Here's what I sent:
There has been a growing sentiment in the US. A seething anger… a pent-up rage that has been simmering just below the surface of a civilized persona. Time has shown that the American people perceive Government as being largely corporate controlled or overly influenced. Politicians are seen to have lost sight of their intended role. Democrats and Republicans (the people… not politicians) all share this burning dissatisfaction… Conservatives and Liberals are joined by livid indignation of the corruption they see running rampant in the offices that are meant to be for the people and by the people.
It would seem that Americans are tired of the propaganda war that has waged for many years. It would seem that they are tired of being tricked and lied to. In an emotion that hasn’t quite found it’s voice, there is a sentiment that the people want integrity in their political representation… they want statesmen… not politicians. Point in fact, the word “Politician” has become something of a dirty word.
I’ve spoken with both party affiliations and both want a real healthcare reform passed. I want it noted I did not say health insurance but healthcare. The American people need a plan we can all partake in. I would like to see whatever healthcare reform/alteration programs that are implemented for the general populace are also mandated to be taken up by everyone within government… to include all house representatives and senators. I know that this one act will allow the American people to have more trust in the actions of their elected representatives… to include the president.
