Advice to any country, don't sign up for neoliberal brit/anglo/rethug policies. This is the modern form of imperialism, avoid it at all costs. Lets the capitalists implode with their rotten system, ie dubya bush circa 2008.

They can't get reelected if they do away with Medicare, etc. No amount of demagoguery and rhetoric will enable them to pull off the impossible. They'll cave like they always have because they love positions of power, the ideologues will get thrown to the curb just you wait and see. Jeez, internet chicken littles get on my nerves.

was the best front for an ideology that dates back to the birch society of radicals. It is an ideology of hate, racism, individualism, classism, and is deeply inhumane and unAmerican. You are right he divided the nation, greed took over in that fateful decade and the decay into 3rd world fascism that is occurring now were the outcome of the radicals. The answer to all that planning and decay is a very deep and strong, bulletproof liberalism, enhanced democracy, and constitutional amendments protecting equality, reparations for slavery, repayment of land to the natives, and outlawing personhood for corporations.

some may know this, some are just useful idiots. The media is owned by the plutocrats, and the mechanism of converting America into a fascist state are pseudo-liberals, teabaggers, and various other conservative ideologues working behind the scenes to destroy the middle class and devolve the nation into a third world totalitarian fascist 'empire'. We must wake up all our family, neighbors, friends, and coworkers as to what is happening, vote them all out and establish controls so this decay into fascism never happens again.

Not to anything radical like marxism, but to a socialized, regulated economy, with more cooperatively owned businesses and jobs. And we must move beyond the ancient notion of a republic, representative democracy to a real democracy. Power to the people, always.

The services, consumerism, should be produced collectively, cooperatively, socially, democratically. That is the proper way to conduct human affairs, that is the way of the future. Capitalism will go into the dustbin of history, of that I am sure.

If he stops the wars and stops being a corporatist. Democracy works if we the people get real, true representation. A corrupted republic like ours is inadequate, we must evolve beyond the antiquated republic into a true democracy!

with the idea of primaring Obama one day on "the last word", guess what? Corporate media shot down the idea with a Grayson, Sanders supporter, panel. Corporate Huffpo the same day knocked down the idea with Dean saying no way. We are corporate controlled, we have a fake democracy. If you don't know that by now you are either dense, or a plain idiot.

As a part of the Republican victory in Congress following November’s election, a number of long-time Democratic Party lawmakers lost their seats, the victims of a national wave of discontent fed by a struggling economy. One of those who lost was Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), who served four terms in the U.S. Senate before losing to Oshkosh businessman Ron Johnson.

Feingold, who will teaching law at Wisconsin’s Marquette University this Spring, sat down with The Nation’s John Nichols for a wide-ranging interview that covered the former senator’s thoughts on his time in the Senate and what he plans to do in the future. At one point, Feingold told Nichols that, while he lost his recent election, the “broader struggle” for social justice has to continue. Nichols followed up by asking Feingold what he meant by the “broader struggle” and what progressives should do now. The senator replied that progressives must confront the fact that “this entire society is being dominated by corporate power” and that progressive must mobilize against what he calls “the Gilded Age on steroids”:

"American politicians know that identifying yourself with the idealized U.S. (democracy, stability and progress, etc.) is a winning political formula. But how do you bury the contradictions?

You either hide your hypocrisy behind a thick cloud of secrecy (a la the WikiLeaks affair) or you obscure your double standards with mass propaganda. Washington uses both strategies.

If you pursue these strategies long enough and consistently enough you build yourself a "thought collective" – groupthink on a national level. Within the thought collective self-deception and rationalization become high arts and soon both the leaders and the followers no longer notice the underlying hypocrisy.

It also helps that most of the public is indifferent toward the world beyond their local sphere. Indifference results in ignorance and the void left by ignorance is readily filled with manipulative misinformation."

Exploitation, destruction of the earth, ignorance, racism, and bullshit belief in "exceptionalism" and "white man's burden" all must end.

Is the first and most important progressive value in my opinion. As my tag line says we are all equal, men, women, all races, etc. If you are a student of anthropology like I am you can see how we all evolved from a small group of humans thousands of years ago, we share much more in common than the small differences like skin color, religion, or transient heritage.

Democrats, who have been around a heck of lot longer, or corporatist republicans who slowly took over this country. It's like a Star Wars movie and we know who is on the dark side.

What if every time some republican thug spoke tough, no one cared. I say we stop pay attention to their cheap psychological tricks, memes, talking points, conspiracy theories and other assorted garbage.
