He is not going to get all the states he won in 2008 back again. Just not possible, so Obama just may have to win a couple of red states to make sure he wins next year. Problem is I don't see a state that McCain won in 08 that would go for Obama. I see toss-ups or states where the Republicans can win next year. Florida, (29) Ohio, (18) Pennsylvania, (20), Virginia, (13), North Carolina, (15 Indiana (11), Nevada, (6), Colorado, (9) and New Mexico, (5), New Hampshire, (4). How many states that ...

Now that ole Hermie baby is "reassessing" his campaign, I wonder if his wife is doing a little reassessing as well?? Cain has become a HUGE problem for the GOP, and the party will do everything in its power to make sure this guy shuts down his campaign. Expect a phone call from the Cockroach Bros. if it hasn't already happened!! Just think, Cain maybe out of the race and the new front-runner has so many problems with his personal life. You can't make this stuff up!!

I guess those prima donna players couldn't handle missing their paychecks!! I, for one, wanted to see the lockout continue, that way ESPN couldn't obsess about the NBA and forget all the other sports going on. This sucks!!!

Winners and losers for last week. Winners; 1, Michelle Bachmann. She won the Iowa straw poll last week, which probably makes her the frontrunner at least for now. Don't get me wrong, if Bachmann becomes the GOP nominee, Obama can cruise to victory because America is going to find out real fast that Bachmann is certifiably crazy. But winning the straw poll certainly gives her some momentum. 2, Rick Perry. Having just entered the race last week, Perry is certainly got the media all abuzz over hi...

Maybe there is Jim Bohannon around, but nationally the talk show circuit is dominated by left wingers and right wingers and the 40% of this country that that consider themselves down the middle politically have no one really to listen too. FoxNews is dominated by right wingers, while MSNBC, except for blowhard Joe Scarbourough, is primarily left wingers. CNN doesn't do the talk show format anymore, which is a shame. Really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. There could be an audience for c...

Dr. Jeff Masters has a great, but truly scary summary of just how extreme some of the events that happened during the past year were. For everyone who says that global warming does not exist, I have a feeling this might change your mind. Scary stuff indeed. (Link)

Winners and losers for the week. Winners 1, Robert Gates; Boy, he gave NATO a tough lashing the other day with their response in Libya. Since Gates is leaving, he can say basically what he wants, but still take orders from Obama. Anyone who has followed the situation in Libya knows NATO is dropping the ball there. Kudos to Gates for standing up and telling it like it is. 2, Barack Obama. Despite some negative news with the economy this week, polls still show Obama up on all Republicans, and is...

Winners and losers for the week; Winners. 1, MSNBC's prime-time lineup. These hosts are certainly doing a fantastic job at keeping everyone informed on the right wing crap being perpetrated by these morons who insist on running this country into the ground. Chris, Cenk, Lawrence, Rachel and Ed are extremely good at what they do, and hopefully all of them will be around for a while longer. Great counterbalance to Fox, and the right wing smear merchants and liars. 2, Barack Obama. Despite the sl...

Doris Schmitt, who listened to family radio and Harold Camping all day long, donated her entire inheritance, nearly $300,000 dollars to family radio because she was so sure that Doomsday was coming. Her family is so upset with Camping and family radio because the prediction did not come true, but after talking to lawyers, they realize there is nothing that can be done about getting the money back. Ellen Heuwetter was shocked to find out that Schmitt left family radio almost $300,000. Heuwetter ...

Winners and losers for the week. Winners; 1, Kathy Hochul. The Democrats picked up a big one in a heavily Republican 26th district as Hochul beat Republican Jane Corwin and Tea Party candidate Jack Davis. Seems that Medicare is a huge issue which the people don't want touched and that was the downfall of the Republicans. Republicans tried to downplay Hochul's victory on Tuesday, but without much success. Hopefully the Democrats will continue to beat the Republicans over the head with this issue....

Here are my winners and losers for the week. Winners; 1, President Obama. Now that the death of Osama Bin Laden is wearing off, you might have expected his poll numbers to start heading a little south. Well, such is not the case so far. Instead, two new polls came out this week, one of which had Obama the same as the week before, and another one had him up two points from the previous week. While the polls will probably not stay like this for much longer, the numbers are steady. 2, Chris Matthe...

After 45 years of hosting the Labor Day telethon, Jerry Lewis released a statement this morning saying it would be his last. I have been an MDA supporter since 1978, and have watched every telethon since 1975. MDA has raised over $1 billion dollars over the years to fight these horrible neuro-muscular diseases. I thank Jerry for all he has done to make MDA and the telethon the success it is. I have no doubt that we will find a cure for all neuro-muscular diseases over time. From now all, Labor D...

Winners and losers for the week. Winners; 1, Barack Obama. Still basking in the glow of the killing of Osama Bin Laden, and with the Republicans still in disarray in trying to give everyone but Obama credit, the president goes merrily along. Buoyed by first time unemployment filers dropping considerably, the economy seems to be picking up, although still way too many people are out of work. This has got to be the biggest area for Obama to tackle. 2, Democrats. The party got two gifts this week ...

Drudge has on his website that Obama is at 60% approval rating. but then he has a little red star next to it saying the poll skewers towards Democrats by 17%. Then he has a link to some hack at National Review Online, who again tries his level best to downplay the poll. Hey Matt, maybe you should have a little red mark every time you display a Rasmussen poll, since they skew Republican, but since you will never do it, makes you a laughingstock. http//(Link) Look at the left hand side.

This will hopefully be a weekly thing for me. Up to three winners and three losers for each week. Winners; 1, Barack Obama. How can he be nothing but a winner!! Osama Bin Laden dead!!!! When he announced his death on Sunday, he looked very much like a true leader. For the first time in a few weeks, I am damn proud that he is my president. 2, Navy Seal team #6. It might have been Obama to give the go ahead to take out Bin Laden, but it was this elite team that had to carry the plan out and exec...

I was listening to Lawrence O'Donnell tonight on MSNBC, and he made a great point. For years, all the Republicans were proclaiming that they, and only they could keep America safe from terrorist attacks. Never mind that it was a Democratic president that won WWII. George W Bush ran his 2004 campaign on that notion that he was keeping America safe. The Swift boat scum sabotaged John Kerry, claiming that a war hero could not keep America safe. Kerry did not fight back against these baseless charge...

To think Obama had to actually come out this morning and release his long form birth certificate, and waste his time on this non-issue pisses me off. Then to make matters worse, the fucking media, playing lapdog to Donald Trump, and making him look like he actually isn't a curse to the human race, has an orgasm in reporting this. Donald Trump is a waste of time, energy and space. He is also an arrogant prick who who thinks his shit don't stink. All these clueless bastards who couldn't or wouldn...

Republicans are always crying about being self sufficient and not needing help from the federal government, but I just wonder how many of them this morning are demanding that Obama start writing the checks to cover the losses from those terrible tornadoes over the weekend and last week?? I already here that Rick Perry is asking for help because his state is on fire. If I remember correctly, Perry wanted to secede from the US not too long ago, now he's crying for help. Republican hypocrisy at it...

With all the problems Barack Obama has, the good news is that the Republicans are in even worse shape than he is. When you have Donald Trump, whose only issue seems to be the fact that he's basically making a fool of himself, leading the GOP presidential race, swallowing what the birthers are feeding him. Ron Paul and Tim Pawlenty have stuck their toes in the water, but that's about it. John Boehner is Captain Queeg unsuccessfully stopping a mutiny from the Teabagger nut-jobs, and who basically ...

After the final whistle tonight of the Butler-UConn game, the college basketball season comes to an end, and also with it, the most over-hyped, over analyzed, over done tournament in sports. ESPN in particular, obsessed about this tournament ad-nauseum. Not a day went by without any of their shows incessantly boring me to death about Jimmer, or UConn, or some other over-blown story that every analyst had to examine 6 ways to Sunday. There were other sports to cover, but you would never know it s...

I was listening to both Candy Crowley and Gloria Borger pile on the negativity this morning with regards to Libya. No mention at all about the rebels taking back a few towns this morning and are driving westward, and are now trying to take back Misrata. What I got was an earful of the same old redundant, overbearing questions that they've been asking the past few days. When it comes to Libya, the media have been the most hypocritical bunch of smear merchants I've ever heard. For a week or so be...

Let me start off by saying that I know it probably will never work, or never pass, but I would love to see the job of vice-president done away with and a co-presidency take effect. Right now, President Obama has never had his plate as full with both domestic and foreign policy issues. In the world, the US is involved in two wars, one in Afghanistan and one in Libya. There is the natural disaster in Japan caused by the earthquake, tsunami and radiation. There is the political unrest in several M...

This is when I can't stand our media. Last week, when the media wasn't talking about Japan, they were harping on the fact that the world was standing by while Muammar Gaddafi was killing his own people. Airplanes were dropping bombs on the rebels, Gaddafi's army was advancing toward Benghazi with nothing but a rag tag bunch of rebels standing in their way. Why isn't anything being done to help these people was the cry from the cable shows. These people are going to be slaughtered if someone, (th...

A lot of DU posters want someone to run against Barack Obama in 2012 because his policies have angered progressives. They say it would actually make him stronger to face the Republican for the general election. Far be it to criticize my fellow DU posters, but in my humble opinion, a challenge from the left to Obama would not strengthen him for 2012, but it would show what a weak incumbent he really is, and it would actually help the Republican challenger. I voted for Hillary Clinton in the 200...

Obama is going to need Independents is he is going to have a second term. 37% of Independents view Obama favorably, down from 47% a month ago. 64% of the country think America is on the wrong track. If there is any relatively good news, Obama's overall approval rating stands at 49%, down only two points from last time. Poll results here. (Link)

Ole Newtie gave his reason why he cheated on his wife in an interview today. "My love and passion for this country so overwhelmed me, that I didn't realize what I was doing" Now Newtie is asking for God's forgiveness for his adultery. Funny thing though, Newtie was all hot and bothered when Bill Clinton was accused of cheating on Hillary, that he wanted him impeached for it. I remember Newtie saying that for the good of the country, Clinton had to be impeached, because the moral fabric had been ...

When I wake up in the morning, and my brother tells me the latest stupidity with the radical right, I have to smile. We keep hearing from idiots like Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, FoxNews, and others about how Obama has ruined the world. To hear these morons open their traps and insert their huge feet inside just makes my day. As long as these assholes continue to be the voice of the right, and keep lying, there is no way in hell these people have a shot at the presidency. You t...

As far as I'm concerned, the Westboro Baptist Church are the ugliest bunch of bastards roaming the planet today. Nothing would make me happier than somehow taking these gutless, vile, disgusting pieces of trash away forever, but if this is going to be the country that takes its first amendment rights seriously, then the Supreme Court made the right decision today regarding this case. I don't like it, but it was the right decision. We live in a country that is a free and open society, and many d...
