Although I admire a powerful and strong woman, I'm not a huge fan of Hillary Clinton's politics or her strategy for winning the White House. I made that clear a few days ago with a post about why I would have trouble voting for Hillary if she is the Democratic Nominee. Although I did say I would most likely "hold my nose" and vote for Hillary over the Republican Nominee(since a strong third party is virtually nonexistent in the U.S.), I've now come to say that if Hillary Clinton is the nominee I will throw my full support behind her and her campaign. Why? Because of one person that changed my mind, my little 6 year-old sister.
While my little sister is as political as a 6 year old can be(which is not very) she does know who the President and Vice President are and does know the basics of how our government is split into three branches. She is a very smart little girl and a gutsy one too who loves wearing her "future president" t-shirt that I bought her during one of my trips to D.C. for a protest. She was watching news with us the other night when she saw a clip of Hillary Clinton on the news. She turned to my mother and said "Why can't we have a girl President like that?" My Mom quickly replied "Actually, she may be our next President." My little sister's eyes lit up so big and she responded to my Mom with an excited "Really?!" I remember when I would have had that same reaction to finding out that a woman could potentially be the next President of the United State. I'm still excited about that potential today. I've just let my political beliefs disrupt that feeling of excitement over that possibility, but my little sister brought it back to me.
So, while I am not endorsing Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primary race and I will throw my full support behind her if she is indeed the Democratic Nominee... all because of my little sister.
