So I got home from vacation to find that one of my budgies "Blue" had died. He was a bit over 6 years old. He was a sweet, special little guy. I got him when he was about 6 wks old after my first bird (and best friend) "Blue Sky"(Blue's namesake) died and "Blue" went a long way to fill that emptiness. I'll always remember how when I was picking out my new friend at the shop all the other little budgies ran away from my hand when I put it in the litter, but Blue hopped right onto it. Blue was ne...
Your days are numbered.
People will always flock to the better product. And as far as information goes, nothing beats the internets. Yes, it has it's problems, sometimes it's like a bunch of monkeys on acid let loose in a Crystal meth lab, but it's superiority is still unquestioned. The days when someone just talks AT you are gone. People have tasted interactivity and CHOICE and there's no going back. Deal with it, it's called progress and it's as unstoppable as a wiz after a bender.
So all y...

The Onion will be out of business soon because satire can't keep up w/ reality anymore.
"David S. Broder: The column for Sunday is an effort to explain why Bush has a tactical advantage over the Democrats at the moment, but why it is unlikely to last. That's my best effort at an update."

W/ the above news that Broder is going to try to explain this fascinating phenomenon to all of us idiots, I figured I'd give a crack at it first.
Broder Turns To SCIENCE To Explain The Inverse relationship between Bush's unpopularity vs. the disadvantage this causes for Dems.

Rove Emails Missing from RNC Server
In a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales today, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, asked that the Justice Department retain all emails received or sent to a White House official's RNC-issued email address.
But he also provided more details about those emails on the RNC servers -- details derived from his staff's interview with the RNC's counsel Rob Kelner. According to Kelner, the RNC...
You'll notice this purge more than any other recent scandal has got the congressional Repubs up in arms. I can't even think of a recent scandal in which there has been such a profound lack of support for Chimpy from Congress. Have there even been ANY shows of support for Chimpy or Gonzo from Congress?? I can't think of any.
Now, why you may ask is THIS outrage so different? Good question. This purge is a direct threat against the POWER of the Repub congressmen. Gonzo is attempting to set up his...
Voters Remain Angry at GOP, NPR Poll Shows
Morning Edition, December 15, 2006 · Voters are feeling more positive about the Democratic Party than about the Republicans as the GOP prepares to hand over control of Congress in January, according to a new NPR poll. And with his approval rating remaining low, President Bush will find it tough to keep Republican lawmakers on his side, the numbers suggest.
Democrat Stan Greenberg and Republican Glen Bolger conducted the survey of likely voters. They f...

Wed Nov 08th 2006, 10:59 PM Ok, before you get all righteous on my ass, I have a good excuse. I was in the hospital all day w/ my wife who is 23 wks pregnant w/ twins and was having severe back pain. SHE'S FINE, it's thankfully just some muscle spasms (though that's bad and painful enough!), but they did a bunch of test just to make sure everything was cool and I didn't get home until later, after the polls closed (I was originally planning on going after work).
Anyway, as you can imagine I had a unique experience on elec...

Thu Nov 02nd 2006, 10:17 AM If I could, I would murder the Traditional (MSM) Media. I would bludgeon it to death, painfully w/ a spiked club, pour salt on it, piss on it and then run it up a flagpole as a reminder to everyone what is deserved when you turn so rancid and rabidly vile.
The past three days and the whole "Kerry thing" has filled me w/ such revulsion it's a wonder I haven't been puking 24/7. We all know the details, so there's no need to rehash, but it's been a case study in ugly, destructive, biased vapidnes...

Wed Nov 01st 2006, 11:48 AM Yeah, yeah, whatever, I can ignore your posts if I want, and your free to post and talk about whatever the fuck you want so don't talk to me about censorship and blah blah blah blah, whatever. But you people make me fucking SICK w/ your fucking mewling, whining bullshit. You pathetic pieces of drivel who lap up the dysfunctional traditional media bullshit as if we haven't seen over and over and over again how completely useless, twisted and irrelevant the traditional media is.

Sat Oct 28th 2006, 12:12 PM And I want nothing to do with you. It is either a debilitating and unforgiveable willful ignorance or a willful embrace of hateful, destructive ideology that necessarily means you are a malignant individual and therefore not worthy of my respect or regard.

Fri Oct 20th 2006, 09:57 AM Candidate seeks textbooks as shields
OKLAHOMA CITY --A candidate for state superintendent of schools said Thursday he wants thick used textbooks placed under every student's desk so they can use them for self-defense during school shootings.
"People might think it's kind of weird, crazy," said Republican Bill Crozier of Union City, a teacher and former Air Force security officer. "It is a practical thing; it's something you can do. It might be a way to deflect those bullets until police go the...

Todays episode, wherein Congressman Weldon (R-Idiot) provides "evidence" of the vast liberal conspiracy that is out to get him. (Evidence comes from a guy named "Grumpy" down at the gym.)
Weldon: Vast Liberal Conspiracy "Is What It Is"
Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) is back, this time armed with hard evidence that his Democratic opponent is in cahoots with the Justice Department.
Weldon said yesterday that a retired FBI agent had "confirmed to me that ...

Rick Santorum and the "Eye of Mordor"
In an interview with the editorial board of the Bucks County Courier Times, embattled Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has equated the war in Iraq with J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings." According to the paper, Santorum said that the United States has avoided terrorist attacks at home over the past five years because the "Eye of Mordor" has been focused on Iraq instead.
"As...

Tue Oct 17th 2006, 05:54 PM As an atheist, that's not the way I heard it. There's no room for me in Romney's view of this country as I have NO religious beliefs. I am not someone who is akcnowledged or accepted in any way in Romney's world. Romney, as a mormon, wants voters to accept HIS lunacy. That's what that speech was about. It's offensive to me that faith and belief in god is, according to Romney, apparently a requirement in his world. Again, IS THAT OK W/ YOU? How do you reconcile that w/ YOUR supposed atheism?

Wed Oct 04th 2006, 06:18 PM This Foley scandal could very well be one of the biggest if not the biggest Washington scandal in history and we at DU should be aware that we are fully part of that history. This technology that allows to witness and participate is truly a remarkable gift. Seeing this thing unfold real-time is truly a thing of sublimity.
That being said, we should also understand that these revelations will be taken by the Repubs as all out war. When the dust settles, if you thought the gloves were off before,...
Bush to hold talks on Ali G creator after diplomatic row
US President George Bush is to host White House talks on British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.
Cohen, 35, creator of Ali G, has infuriated the Kazakhstan government with his portrayal of Borat, a bumbling Kazakh TV presenter.
And now a movie of Borat's adventures in the US has caused a diplomatic incident.
The opening scene, which shows Borat lustily kissing his sister goodbye and setting off for America in a car pulled by a horse, ha...

Mon Sep 11th 2006, 02:05 PM Those words seem a little odd to me, “9/11 survivor”. I can only imagine my experience wasn’t as hellish as people who were actually in the buildings. I happened to be UNDER them when the second plane hit and therefore didn’t have to deal w/ the hell of being trapped or trying to get out. Though I will say, seeing fist sized chunks of flaming debris raining down around you can be a bit disconcerting. The guy running around the corner screaming for help for a woman who was cut in half leaves me ...

Wed Jun 28th 2006, 05:58 PM Seriously, I don't have a fucking clue. All these religions and their sects and their quibbles and everyone's different interpretations and definitions on every fucking thing related. Seriously. It's too complicated. What IS an "evangelical"? What are they? Who are they? What they do? What do they want? I don't care what you want to call them, how about "lunatic fuckwad religious nutbags"? Is that better?

Fri Apr 07th 2006, 07:42 PM That's his legacy. How sad. How pathetic.
People, you do realize this is it. It's over for him. I don't know if anyone will be indicted, or what exactly the consequences will be, or how desperate they will become, but I tell you, we have crossed the line of no return as far as public perception is concerned. Chimpy is done and it's only a matter of how massively he hurts his entire party and unfourtunately the whole country and world at this point.
The "Leaker in Chief". Worst President in his...

Wed Feb 01st 2006, 10:08 AM Every year in the SOTU Bush has mentioned some seemingly bizarre subject that seems to be added as an after thought and comes from seemingly out of the blue. Remember the Sex Slaves? Steroids in baseball? This year it's the human-animal hybrids.
I have a theory that these non-sequitors are Bush's own personal additions to the speech. Some subject or another catches his attention momentarily and he insists on adding into his speech. He's like a child and can't be denied and insists that he contr...
Poll after poll now shows that people believe Chimpy lied and manipulated intelligence. This pathetic, idiotic speech of his will do NOTHING to change that, and in fact, it may make things worse for him.
It's already conventional wisdom, whether or not the MSM treats it as such (and most of the MSM, in fact does NOT treat it as such) doesn't matter. The public's perception has had a drastic shift and there is NO going back from that. It's just not possible.
The rest of this post is a repost, b...
It's being reported that Bushco. is preparing a new PR rollout to counter the Dems and defend the war and basically all their criminal traitorous behavior. Story and DU links below.
I say we help them out! Some of my ideas, please contribute your own:
1. Roll out a cute animal mascot to defend the war: Warry the warpig
2. New slogan: Death is GOOD for you!
3. Bush needs to get MORE folksy! He starts going around calling everyone "Cracker".
4. Donald Rumsfeld to star in his own reality show "Th...
Can you believe it? We're witnessing possibly the greatest upheaval and threat to humanity in all of history. We are literally at the cusp of the possible extinction of the human species. Oh, I know, it's certainly possible that humanity will survive in some form, but I must say, I am increasingly cynical about civilization. Not only is there the threat to the planet due to global warming, but there is also the threat from Bushco. and his fundamentalist minions who actually WANT to destroy the ...
I embrace them with a black heart, an empty head and an open wallet!
What is wrong with you people!?? Can't you see our glorious leader is being CONCILIATORY with his god given mandate? He has been gracious enough to NOT immediately throw us into the gas chambers! Do not pass up this opportunity to swear fealty to our glorious overlords! Act now before it's too late!
I for one am hoping for indentured servitude of some kind, though perhaps I'll get lucky and they'll see fit to make me an energ...
This is a repost, but it seemed appropriate in light of the debate and the WP article about the dissarray in Buscho. world. People have been writing threads as well suggesting that this is some kind of set up to lower expectations or "rope a dope". It's not. This is Bush's astounding incompetence coming to light.
Remember when you were a kid and some new toy would come along and the commercials for it were plastered all over the Saturday morning cartoons and before you knew it everyone you kn...
It's quite fascinating really, seeing it happen before your eyes.
I'm quite convinced "the media" has created a vast illusion of popularity for an unpopular man. I really am.
I think there are many more people out there who want change in this country and that there is a truly vast, malignant, ubiquitous distortion being carried out by the "mainstream media" to create the illusion that the opposite is true.
Is it a conspiracay? Yes, it is, centralized to some degree, but also loosely configu...
Welcome folks to the Reagan Beatification and Ultimate Whorefest Extravaganza!! Stick around! The BEST is yet to come!!!
We've got EVERYTHING Reagan! How about some Reagan toilet paper or suppositories?! Reagan boil lancers are 4 for a buck!! I don't know what you can do with them, but they make great collectible...
