BlooInBloo's Journal
(This turned out to be longer than I supposed it would at the beginning. Even if you don't read it, do me a favor and think about the question for a few seconds before voting! :) )
I was just thinking about it, and the obvious answer (the general) no longer seemed as obvious to me.
Note that I'm not suggesting that the general will be *easy* - I'm just asking about which will be *harder*.
I'm perfectly well aware of what difficulties the general will introduce, and I'm sure responses will me...
... (Well, as "regularly" as people have it in the first place at any rate.)
Instructions on how to get this are in the comments.
I was bored today, so I started learning javascript. I decided I wanted a better DU toolbar; here's the proof-of-concept:
(Image)
(I also changed the Search button to go straight to Advanced Search, but you can't see that in a picture)
Javascript is pretty easy - I figure on making cooler things happen, like a completely individually configurable toolbar. I'm also thinking of putting the toolbar in its own frame (ie, when you scroll down a page, the toolbar doesn't disappear on you.)
I just ...
Sorry about the repeat - I decided I wanted this in my journal, and you can't post directly to your journal... Feel free to ignore...

There's been quite a hubbub over the last few days concerning the six retired generals critizing rummy, and calling for his resignation.
Factually, the generals are surely in the right. Rumsfeld IS an incompentent leader, allowing fantasia-style ideology free reign over actual facts. And the military, as wel...
Josh Marshall was worried about that being the perception:
"Interesting. Already seeing lots of Republicans putting out the talking point that DeLay's departure ends or sharply diminishes the salience of the corruption issue in this year's midterm -- and plenty in the media are picking it up and running with it."
(Link)
But it looks like Reuters at least has the right of the matter:
"DeLay's fall won't end corruption issue
Rep. Tom DeLay's fall from power amid a widening scandal robs Democ...
Reading his words themselves, there's nothing wrong with em. The only wrong comes when people read into his words things he simply didn't say.
Obama did NOT for example, say ANY of the following:
(a) We should not be careful about how we achieve Social Security goals.
(b) There are no factors in a successful education beyond teachers.
(c) Parents are not a factor in a child's education.
(d) Poverty is not a factor in a child's education.
(e) Learning disabilities are not a factor in a chil...
... and I think it's indicative of a major weakness Democrats have.
#3 Is listed as george bush. But when you go on to read the gloss, you don't see a single thing he said in it.
What you DO see is what VOTERS said - and boy was it craptacular!
This is the weakness that I think is endemic in Democrats: they absolutely REFUSE to blame those who are in fact most to blame: the goddamn voters. The electorate is NOT a passive battered wife in all of this. They ACTIVELY sought republican rule - for...
Hi science geeks,
(it takes one to know one :) )
I was lucky enough to get my hot little hands on a pdf of this the other day, and am planning to read over the next few weeks. I'd like to get thoughts from others who've read it as I go - or simply have good ideas w/o reading it. So I think I'll do a post/journal entry every couple of days with my thoughts over what I've been reading. It'll probably cover a chapter-ish, but who knows, really - at least it'll cover a big enough chunk to be wort...
