It is 67 degrees outside right now, in Indiana, on November 8. I don't know if that is a record, but I don't ever recall going outside in November wearing a T-shirt and no coat or jacket at all. Not only that, but I still have yet to break out my warm coats. Not even close. Care to explain that?

This is perhaps more telling than anything else about what I have decided to start calling "Great Depression II."

Rented it from Redbox. Aliens with a taste for amphibious landings, hard to kill, serious urban combat, they just destroyed an alien gunship for the first time, only to find out it's a drone. "Independence Day" on steroids. Perfect Saturday afternoon viewing.

In the debt ceiling fight, and the stock market tanks in response, doesn't that mean the Repugs OWN the lousy economy?

Don't quit your day job. You're no comedian. Oh, that's right -- you're unemployed.

Give me a break. You crack a lame joke like that to a group of out-of-work people in a coffee shop in Florida? You've got a fortune to fall back on, while they are wondering how they are going to pay their bills and feed their kids. Some of them may even have been sleeping in their cars or on the streets. They came to hear what you had to say about their situation, not to hear you make fun of them. You are a tone-deaf idiot.

On Rachel Maddow tonight, she talked to two woman senators from Wyoming who voted against a bill that would place very intrusive requirements for doctors in dealing with women who come to them for abortions. The bill was overwhelmingly defeated by an overwhelmingly Republican state senate. They didn't care that the issue was abortion; they just did not want that kind of government intrusion into the doctor's office. For the younger DUers who may not realize it, this is what conservativism used to be decades ago.

I don't know why anybody would be a teacher these days. I hope this link works: www.articles.cnn.com

If not, it should be on CNN.com. It's about all Providence, RI being fired. Unbelievable!

"but it will take a while."

Were accuracy a virture to consider when creating campaign slogans, Obama might have chosen this. For those who are disappointed with the progress being made on issues form Afghanistan to health care reform, let's keep in mind that this presidency is less than ten months old. My nephew, now three, wasn't even walking yet at that age. Here's Anna Quindlen with some perspective for us:
