The push for immediate and short term results, comes at the expense of the worker, environment, and many times, their long term viability as a going concern. The immediate profit attainment is all-encompassing as the metrics of success are measured against current competitors.

Long term viability is being/has been replaced by short term greed. Strategic planning has devolved into a rape and pillage mentality. Until corporations begin to act for the good of all stakeholders, they are complicit in expediting the demise of our social and economic welfare.

With their singularity of purpose, and the incredible advantages of lesser taxation and huge capital, they wield their power through PACs, garnering commitments from politicians that aid their agenda in return for financial backing to secure the elected representative's position. It comes at the expense of the individual citizen. It is too much power residing in one "person".
