I heartily recommend you watch this incredible video of the Hallelujah Chorus that was made by a small Inuit village in Alaska.
Here's the description that came with it:
AN ESKIMO WONDER
Done like you've never seen before. This video from the small Yupiq
Eskimo Village of Quinhagak, Alaska , was a school computer project intended
for the other Yupiq villages in the area. Much to the villagers' shock, over
a half million people have viewed it.

Janeen Delany describes herself as an "old hippie" who's smoked plenty of marijuana. But she never really dabbled in hallucinogens — until two years ago, at the age of 59.
A diagnosis of incurable leukemia had knocked the optimism out of the retired plant nurserywoman living in Phoenix. So she signed up for a clinical trial to test whether psilocybin — the active ingredient in "magic mushrooms" — could help with depression or anx...

Last night I got a phone call from a dear close friend of Redstone...
He died in his sleep last Tuesday night.
What a man he was! Funny, wicked funny, and smart, compassionate, intelligent beyond belief...and so much more.
His loss will be felt forever by his wife, and his sons, and by us.
Who among us did not relish his stories, his calm way of seeing events? I always felt so happy to see him posting, for I knew that there would be good things to absorb and ponder in his threads...
I don...
This is a long, but very worth-while read from Michael Hiltzig. A lot of historical perspective along with what's happening on Wall Street and elsewhere, today.

How do you know when a protest movement is starting to scare the pants off the establishment?
One clue is when the protesters are casually dismissed as hippies or rabble, or their principles redefined as class envy or as (that all-purpose insult) "un-American."
Nothing shows that as powerfully as ...
This was a bumpersticker on a large van, complete with oversize tires, in front of me today...
Above the sticker was a smaller one: An American flag. Written above it: Pro American. And below: Anti Obama
Goddamn these people.

After three years of tweeting, hinting and eyelash-batting, on Wednesday Sarah Palin announced that she was not running for president. Her Facebook friends are disappointed. But for Sarah-watchers in Alaska like me, the announcement was long expected, old news.
In 2008, John McCain dumbfounded the nation when he selected Palin as his running mate. She was so obviously unqualified that even Dick Cheney said McCain had made a "reckless" choice; a judgmen...
My girlfriend took this one of me last night at the open mic:

I spoke to a worker in my local Ralphs (Kroger) today, and I asked her if they'd ratified their contract...
She said they had, on Friday.
She didn't know how the voting had gone except that a majority had voted for it.
She also said it was a lot better than what we'd heard...the bit about no raises for 2 years and carrying so much more of their health insurance costs was gone.
She looked happy.
I suspect management is also happy. She did say they didn't want a strike either. And she confir...
I don't know what steps could have been taken, but I think that Troy's battle is over.
Somehow, we need to be aware of these battles before they get to the 11th-hour stage.
Does anyone have any good ideas on how to accomplish this?
I feel so helpless...
I am sick at heart over this whole mess.
this is a test
:D
On edit: I just figured out how to do this, thanks to Kali, and I wanted all of you to see!
And thought it was extremely appropriate:

But it seems to me that there are so many threads where folks express their anger and disappointment with Obama because the man has not made the moves he said he would make.
The latest is the EPA story.
If he were carrying out the mandate he got from us, there wouldn't be any reason for us to be upset.
Or at least, a lot fewer reasons.
People are angry because they feel let down. And that means lots and lots of threads expressing that anger.

I just realized, thanks to another more observant DU'er than myself, that I've gotten to over 90,000 posts...
This one is 90,010.
It sure has been a blast! Well, mostly...;-)
Thank you to all of you who have helped me get here!
Cheers, everybody!
