As the Bush tax cuts are set to expire in Dec. 2010, should Obama seek to extend tax cuts for everyone including the top earners in the country?

On edit: As part of the compromise, Obama was able to secure an additional 13 months of unemployment insurance and a package of other tax cuts.

Part of what makes me a liberal is my belief in pluralism. I thoroughly believe that each person’s ideas are valid and though we may disagree, to be tolerant of those ideas. Somehow I draw the line at those who oppose gay marriage. I cannot listen to someone who believes that our gay brothers and sisters are not deserving of the same rights and privileges that straight people hold. I just want these bigots to shut up and go away. I will not respect their point of view. Does this make me a hypocrite? They are fundamentally unjust and we have nothing left to discuss.

What the Republicans have to say on the matter is apparently more newsworthy than the plan itself.

There is a culture that everyone needs a piece of the pie even though some people aren't starving. I feel like the stimulus bill and the foreclosure prevention plan are both designed to keep people from falling into poverty. Now the people who aren't in poverty are crying out for help too. Not because they really need it, but because there is a mentality that they should get something too. I'm sure that I'm not getting the whole picture from someone here, but I'm really tired of this kind of mentality.

Hi Folks,

I'm doing field organizing in St. Croix County, Wisconsin for Barack. This is just a general call to anyone who isn't already, but is interested in getting more involved. For those of you who are already involved, maybe we can coordinate efforts.

Just as some backup to the story, we have over 30 field offices throughout Wisconsin. McCain has 6. McCain's strategy is to spread as much innuendo and lies as he can and we're going to combat it by putting feet on the ground. We only have 82 days until E-Day and if we don't get mobilize we're going to lose.

I really miss DU this time of year, but I don't have time to read much and I shouldn't be blogging anyway.

Thanks and I hope to hear from some of you soon.

Let me first off say that I am an Obama supporter. I am happy to take advantage of the system while it exists.

Here are the two problems that I have with them.

1. They are more difficult to participate in than a straight election. They are unfair to people who are shift workers, seniors, parents with kids, troops overseas and people in hospitals. I do like the fact that force people to come together and talk about issues instead of being driven solely by the media in determining their votes. There has to be a way to keep what is a good base, but incorporate the different things that make them less useful.

2. They aren't used in the GE. Shouldn't we have the same system in both elections so that we can more accurately predict who will be the better candidate in the GE? Doesn't it make sense to apply the same test in both occassions?

I'm really trying to get an honest dialogue here. I hope that you'll oblige me. Any thoughts?

I am so sick of the implication that just because I'm not white/working class, that I am somehow irregular. Apparently I am a strange oddity of a person that is ripe for scorn and disdain. I am the object upon which political points can be scored.

I live in a big city and went to college. I work in an office instead of a coal mine. So sue me. Am I supposed to apologize for liking nice coffee? Good lord, can the MSM please stop talking about me like I'm some kind of a mutant or something?

It seems to me that if this movie were around since 1993 then this would have been used against the Clintons by now. This seems like the kind of thing that we would all know about by this point.

I'm an Obama supporter, but this seems a little fishy to me.
