Most who felt unwelcomed here, moved on. It wasn't just about Obama, trust me. I have many DU friends I've met on other boards, blogs and forums, who are simply growing, not hating. geesh. Stop your (generic) cantankerous, hate spewing comments towards people...you.simply.don't.agree.with. I'll continue to read DU, there are some bright and inspiring people here. I want to support some threads that do call some of Obama's policies into question, but choose to discuss them elsewhere. Lik...

(Link) Before his lecture Tuesday, former senator and 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards spoke with The Herald about poverty, life after his 2008 presidential run and his plans for the future. The Herald: What have you been doing since the primaries? Edwards: A variety of things. Speaking at venues like this. I have continued to work with the Poverty Center at the University of North Carolina, which I started a few years ago. I have been talking to and working with folks w...

I think these guys (youtube!) are so great, I blogged about them: (Link)/ I brought my bloggy post to DU, because I remember when we used to laugh here :grouphug: I love to laugh, I support our President, who's with me :toast: Sidebar: I'm solidly in the middle these days, I'm just so tired of being angry.

No, he really didn't apologize :hi: I've been on both sides, those of you with purple tickets who didn't "get in" or "stuck in the tunnel"...thank a liberal :)

Even though I have a friend I can stay with in Arlington, just two Metro stops away from Penn Ave's vicinity for the FREE parade route view. I respectfully declined this kind invite. Enjoy the article :hi: (Link) on edit to add Show up Early :)

Let us look forward toward his inauguration and celebrate the fact that we will all continue to pay close attention to what is proposed during his term in office, and that we should make our voices heard in instances when he does great stuff as well as when he fucks up (which will happen). I wasn't an Obama supporter, but he won, so I wish him well for the sake of my country. What I don't want to see is DU turning into an echo chamber/free republic type of site that circles the drain on "other...

(Link) Jay Bakker, Christian punk preacher and son of televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, preaches about God's love for gays and lesbians, building on a theme his late mother championed. The pierced and tattooed Bakker grew up in Charlotte, N.C., at the heels of his parents' Praise The Lord ministry and television network. The PTL empire imploded in scandal in the 1980s. Afterward, Tammy Faye, who divorced an imprisoned Jim Bakker and married Roe Messner, re-emerged as a television and c...

Okay, we're not movie reviewers, buy my mentally challenged adult son and I saw this movie yesterday. And neither of us were OFFENDED. Best movie I've seen all year. My side still hurts from laughing so hard.....and I have to see it again because I literally was on the floor laughing my ass off most of the time. :toast: Enjoy it!

Click on the Zillow link: (Link)/ Type in your current address, get the results, then Vote in the poll. This is fun for renters, and those of you who still live with your parents/roomies/in a van down by the river! Zillow will appraise every address! You can help kick this thread by posting if the appraisal came in higher or lower than you expected, maybe the city/state your in, if you'd like. I don't recommend posting your zillow results link, too much personal information will be exposed...

(Link) Swimmer Amanda Beard might be the sexiest and most compassionate U.S. Olympic athlete of all time. Need proof? Check out the anti-fur ad that she did—naked—for PETA. Even with her busy and demanding training schedule, Amanda took the time to bare her skin to help save animals' skins. With the tagline "Be Comfortable in Your Own Skin. Don't Wear Fur," Amanda posed nude to help raise awareness of the cruelty inherent in the fur industry. With Beijing hosting the 2008 Olympic Summer Game...

Sign Mark Warner's petition here: (Link) from email: The rising cost of health care is one of the most urgent problems facing our country, but Congress is struggling to pass even the most modest legislation to deal with it. Last week, I told you how the U.S. Senate jeopardized health care coverage for countless seniors, disabled citizens, and military families when it failed to pass bipartisan legislation preventing pay cuts to doctors who accept Medicare patients. And for the past week, n...

(Link) May 13, 2008 Obamacans Pile on Clinton at Own Peril By Froma Harrop Many in the Obama camp, having outfoxed the apparently not-so-formidable Clinton machine, can't seem to get the hang of winning gracefully. They feel a need to drive a stake in Hillary Clinton's reputation, then dance. If they were smart, they'd heap praise on Clinton and let her finish out the race, however she chooses to do so. That's sage advice, even though offered by Republican mastermind-turned-pundit Karl Rove...
