Perry Como was known as a "crooner' who sang mostly slow romantic ballads. And he was very good at it. In early 1955 he shocked the listening public when RCA Victor released "Kokomo" as a 45 single. Is this one of the first "rock 'n roll" records? Bill Haley and Elvis have long been considered the pioneers of "rock and roll for white people." But did Perry stealthly slip in the first blow? (note the 1-3-5 bass line and the R&B sax solo)
