ChoralScholar's Ravings
Okay - this is a self-whoring post, but oh well... I wanted to post a couple, because we haven't been on vacation in so long.
My son celebrated his 4th birthday while we were gone...

My Razorbacks whipped the Vols 31-14. 31-7 would have looked better, but they scored on our walk-ons in the last qtr.

My wife mentioned to her mother that we had considered joining a church where we live. It is Disciples of Christ, a much more liberal denomination. Her mother told her, that if she joined that church, she would be labeled a heretic by the neocon SBC church of her upbringing.
Nevermind the audacity of a mother telling her daughter this...
I would not want to be a member of a church that says "We're right... unequivocally. Everyone else is a heretic." They can take that hypocritical arroganc...

Of the 40,000 spam emails I receive each week, the ones that make me the most angry are the ones advertising "Christian Lenders," because you know they're not Christians. It's an unethical marketing ploy to prey upon uneducated Middle Americans who don't realize that Jews actually offer the best interest rates.
Like Satan, I decided to test their faith. I made the following prank call to one of these "Christian" lenders (which turned out to be Citibank), to see if I could...
I've always been a guy who lived 'in town'. I'm used to being able to make a run to the store/gas station/etc. if I want.
My wife and I are looking at a house that's about 10 miles out of town, mostly on dirt. It's a beautiful house back off in the woods, and my wife loves it.
Has anyone made this transition? How did you cope? What do you like about it?
This puts us not only farther away from usual trips to buy groceries or pay bills, but also puts us farther for longer trips to Fayette...
I've had all I can take of my neighbors... five days straight now... they've been over mid morning until midnight.
Background, if you don't remember:

Not to mention, while I was studying, I sent my wife to the store to pick up a couple things. I'm sure I can handle my son and the neighbor's kids for a half-hour or so. Four hours later I finally call my wife, who says shes just 'out piddling around.' Needless to say, that pissed me off. She knew I had to study today, and did not car...

Abortion is a highly personal decision that many women are sure they'll never have to think about until they're suddenly faced with an unexpected pregnancy. But this can happen to anyone, including women who are strongly anti-choice. So what does an anti-choice woman do when she experiences an unwanted pregnancy herself? Often, she will grin and bear it, so to speak, but frequently, she opts for the solution she would deny to other women -- abortion.
In the spring of 2000, I collected ...

In the budget history section, there was a book called 'The Right Man for the Job' with GWB on the cover. Right next to it, was a book about Nazi Germany with Hitler on the cover. It just so happened that they were in alpha order by author, a...
I told you about them in a thread a few months ago:

I'm on spring break, trying to do things around the house, do some schoolwork, and generally relax.
My neighbors have been at my house for three solid days.
On Sunday, they came over at 10am, and didn't leave until 12:30am. Yesterday, they were there when I got up (around 10:30am) and didn't leave until nearly midnight.
Today, they came over as soon as we got up (they saw us let the dogs out), and haven't left.
The dad sits at my ...
