ColbertWatcher's Journal
I was away from the tubes trying desperately to avoid !
And she graciously posted this Friday's Food Bank Thread (with a little bit about Eunice Shriver!).
Thank you, EFerrari!
:toast: :yourock:
... and usually on Fridays I post a "Most Important News Story of the Week" thread.
But, since I've been gone, can anyone fill me in on what I've been missing?
What do you think was the most important news story for the past week (August 8-14,2009)?
Thanks!
We need to reframe the healthcare debate.
We know that the people screaming at the townhall meetings are funded by the insurance syndicates. So, when they claim to be against any real reform, why not call them what they really are?
Anti-healthcare.
Think about it:Health insurance revolves around profits.
Healthcare, on the other hand, revolves around health.
Health insurance decisions are made by accountants, who, more often than not, have never met the patient, has never spoken with the p...
I've decided I'm going to call the astroturf, corporate-funded, GOP-controlled-media darlings the "anti-healthcare" movement.
They don't care about healthcare, they're only concerned about profit-making.
And not even their own profits! The turfer sleeper cells are yelling and screaming not to protect or better their own situation, but to line the pockets of !
They don't care if people die or are ; they are anti-healthcare.
And they can go fuck themselves.

(If you have other suggestions, or are looking for ideas, )
I have a few.
Make sure the fire marshal and police are called
Many of these videos show over-packed rooms, which, once the turfers are escorted out for disrupting, will probably meet local occupancy standards.
If you are not allowed entry due to the limit, simply wait outside for all the turfers to be removed. Do not enter unless given permission by the fire marshal.
Help them expose themselves.
This will take two people: one with copies of the "disruptor memo" and another with a camera....
How would you use those videos to fight the insurance syndicates?

If the person(s) behind "Shirley" is ever revealed, what should happen?
Should "Shirley" be rewarded? A day named in "her" honor?
What if "Shirley" cashed the check? Should "she" be punished?
What if "Shirley" were merely paid to create a fake birth certificate, instead of perpetrating the greatest RL troll evah?
What do you think DU, if "Shirley" ever identifies her/his/themselves, how should the world react?

Hoping to expand the appeal of the Emmy Awards, producers of the Sept. 20 telecast plan to truncate the presentation of many of the movie and miniseries awards in order to spotlight more popular television programming.
The winners of eight Emmy categories will be named approximately 45 minutes before the broadcast begins at 5 p.m. PDT, allowing producers to air edited versions of their acceptance speeches later in the program. That will free up time in the telecast to highlight shows such as “A...
