We lost a the house to "Tea-Party/Republicans" in 2010 we now have to deal with them. They do not share our values BUT they don't have to. They get to call the shoots now. I'm tried of reading what Obama should do! It's time for us as Democrats to take up the responsibly that we didn't when we allowed the crazies to flank us in the house. We were too smart, funny and correct be defeated by the right, remember. We got our ass handed to us and now want the president to take all the heat, and somehow stop a congress that's so right wing they are willing to drive us into the financial abyss just to say it happened on Obama's watch!

Many of you think that Obama can just stick to his guns and the right will fold, sorry not going to happen! We have to adopt a real 365 majority strategy for prolonged legislative dominance. f*ck 50 states we can't gain power an then let the clowns back in to stop progress. Obama is trying to respect the house that has the purse stings and get a little of what he wants at the same time. BTW Dems the re-punks are playing this game the right way when you have the house you tell the president where the money is going to go until he deals. We should have handed bush is balls left and right but we bent over again and again and just took it!

Stop looking at Obama to do more than play the shit hand we gave him. Are you mad at how this tax and debt game is playing out? GOOD! Just remember that as you guys are looking to check out next election. Many of you are true left wing fighters and know it but it's time to face the music we dropped the ball in 2010 not 2008 and are now paying for it!

I love politics but man this is a BIG LEAUGE, power play. Several Republican Governors are stating that they will not take any Fed money from the bailout?!? Oddly this is a group who all look to be presidential players in 2012. Jindal (LA), Perry (TX), and Sanford(SC) are all betting their political futures on the failure of the stimulus package. Let’s say they are correct, the package fails they get to say we were right they were wrong the only harm is that they didn’t get some pet money from the fed. Now what if they are wrong, they have all but thrown away any claim to the correction and will lose the offices they have. Sack of onions I tell ya!

To be honest NO study can prove what is being proposed reason being, the number of successful divers with cell phones could never be adequately juxtaposed against drivers who have accidents with cell phones because there is no proof the "cell phone alone" is the cause. Bad drivers tend to have accidents regardless of cell phones, the this means that the cell phones could be nothing more and a variant in a long line of things that we blame rather than blame BAD DRIVERS. This report does not give driving history of any reasonable sample to conclude and positive correlation let alone "cause and effective." With that said might I remind us all that "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Now your cell phone is NOT "Essential Liberty" but the ability to sit in your car and move your lips without worry of a white and black flashing it's lights at you should worry you. Where does this stop? Slippery slope you say? well fancy this on this very topic many of you are OK with a police office searching your phone, but you tell me what happens when you say " I don't have a phone"? Can he search your car or person for proof. Passengers ? Children? Hmmmm seem a little far fetch? Tell that to the guy shot while restrained in the subway station,or the youngster strip searched for Advil. Tell that to the young black kids who will get pulled over for talking to each other, have a cell phone in the car and find them selfs unjustly fined.

THINK, Not just react!

Hugs and handshakes work far better that Internet Revolutionaries. Trust! Ranting and raving online has worked so well. Tell me when the online march will be or when the internet lawmakers will overturn prop 8? Oh wait I'll tell you. NEVER! If you are too thick to understand that no mater how much you post on DU nothing will change, then good luck to you. Fight or Die people. NO more rants, how about plans, real world plans. How about forming caucuses with like minded people who are on the other side. How about building a real moment that works to bring change. Has anyone tried to setup meetings or fours @ Saddleback? We did it here in Atlanta with some of the lager churches before the vote here in 2004 and with some of the other civic groups ( we didn't do enough in south GA). You don't like what he says change his mind and can't do that on the DU! I am with you but the fight needs less rants more truth fighters!

I was watching some show on UFOs on the sci-fi network getting ready to go into work @ 11am. I was fresh out of college and working in tech retail. I was lying on the floor waiting for the commercial break so I could get my shoes and get ready to head out the door the toaster had just snapped out my Eggos when my mom comes in the side door from the gym.

"Turn the TV to the news, some fool has hit the World Trade Buildings"

She was smiling, not sure of the details herself, just hearing some chatter of it on top 40 station. Me and my mother often share a dark joy of the bazaar and we both imagined this was some small single engine pilot who was hotdoging for some AM talk show and got his comeuppances. Until we saw the images, like a moving still frame the hole in the side of the tower was huge. The horror was compounded when from the side of my eye I saw the second plane. I cried out ,

" Mom Look.."

An incomplete thought really as before I could say anther word, the second plane hit. My mother quickly suggested to me that this was an attack and no sooner than these words came out her mouth it seemed that images of Washington DC were being shared with myself and the the rest of the public.

That day was so odd and beautiful. I live in Atlanta and it was really one of the most picture perfect September mornings I can remember. The grounding of the airliners meant that the skies overhead were clear and as I rode into work I remember turning off my radio and thinking aloud

"My God , my God thank you for the gift of life and why must others fight so hard to take it away..."

God didn't answer .

"My God , why so many ..." I begin to cry as the weight of what had happen started to set in . I had family in New York that I hadn't spoken, to lord knows if they had made it at that time, would I or my little brother be drafted , what if this is just the begging "what if"s ran through my mind of unending violence, only to have no answers, just fear.

I continued on to work only to be meet at the door by co workers informing me that management decided to let us spend the day at home. Phone calls, IM and emails came in form people asking me if "I saw it?" or "Man when we get them guys?" All day long I felt empty and lost wondering if "the big one " was still to come.

NBC moved into the lead at 8 p.m. with the debut of "Sunday Night Football," which combined with the final segment of the pregame show for a 12.0/19. ABC's movie "The Path to 9/11" earned a 7.6/12 for the hour to take second. CBS got a 6.2/10 from "60 Minutes" and the documentary "9/11." FOX aired the season premieres of "The Simpsons," 6.9/11, and "American Dad," 5.3/8. "Charmed" brought up the rear for The WB.

Yeah ...that's huge! 12 points much bigger than that ABC Doc-U-Crap that may have earned 2nd place still not by much over the Simpsons <very funny btw>!
