Im from Europe, and for the good of my life can't understand why someone docent want to have a decent public option to health care. It is a right most europeans take for granted to have the possibility to get the healtcare we need, when we need it.. Okay we pay a lot of taxes to get it, and not everything is okay in our healtcare system. But compared to the US I would say most europeans healtcare system is like coming to the heavens in comparison...
I can for myself say that I would far more rather pay the taxes and get decent healtcare when needed. As I have been in need of some times the last 5-6 year. Hospitalized twice, and for the moment have a bad knee who need MR, and possible a surgery to fix what is wrong in my knee.. The surgery will not cost me a dime because I already have paid for it by my taxes, but I'm not sure when the surgery Will go ahead... In the meantime I have painkillers on receipt, and it was on "blue receipt" so it doesn't cost me a lot of money to have it get out, think it all cost NKR 144, or like 25,44 US dollar.. Im not sure what the surgery in my knee would have cost me, but more than posible far more than I can afford at present...
And can I say that I get my dental for free?
I'm somewhat mind blowing when people who really are in need of healtcare is crying out as the health care is communism, and that is a danger to what US is all about. They sees to doesn't have a clue what is the reality of a public option and is brainwashed to believe it to be communism... If all they who fight this really know how good it had been for them,to have a public option....
And it is not that the private companies loose out of this. Even in Scandinavia where I am living, the private companies whose profession is to get some of us to pay to private institutions is pretty well living. But compared to US they are small, and strictly regulated. They cant even be aggressive in commercials, and for the most part, they who want a private insurance get it on their own, by insurance companies or by given it by the company they are working for...
