In a Congress with a 99% incumbency rate, two GOP candidates have withdrawn from the ballot:

First, Bob Ney of OH-18 has http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/08/14/... >withdrawn from the ballot. Meanwhile, his replacement Joy Padgett may also be ineligible to run; upon official declaration of her candidacy, the Ohio Democratic Party will sue her butt off. In a state where the GOP is in big trouble, Padgett's departure from the ballot would almost certainly earn Zack Space a victory.

Meanwhile, in TX-22, Lampson seems set to win Tom Delay's house seat, as he is running with no Republican on the ballot, http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.nyt... >several Republican write-in candidates, and a Libertarian.

In NY-24, Democrats lead in the currently Republican district by 4%

Democrats lead in 5 of the 6 races needed to regain control of the U.S. Senate. Even with "Green" intervention, Casey still leads.
