DU seems to be longer on talk than action.

IMO this is the first front on which we should begin the reclamation of the US. Hedges, Johnston and others have written that it will soon be time to fight, flee, or succumb. Big Media is a cancer on the country. 20 years ago, in Stage 1, it could have been cured fairly simply by removing a few tumors - Limpballs, Rove, Luntz. It has now progressed to Stage 4, and the treatment will have to be radical, and may not be successful. For instance, Hartmann said yesterday that the newest Big Media meme is that the president is a "suicide bomber" - i. e. terrorist. If a few of the purveyors of this seditious lie were to suffer some really severe consequences, quickly and publicly, we could begin to have a different dialog. It is a travesty that Limpballs is allowed to call the president a terrorist, to our soldiers, on tax payer-funded medium. But there is nothing legally that can be done to stop it.

That said, a quick glance at DU reveals that even people who call themselves Dems are addicted to right-wing lies. Every day we are showered with the lies of King Glenn, the Obese Pedophile, Fox "News", Oliver North, Morning Secretary Killer, and so on. Some have bought the "Obama is going to take all of our guns away" BS. Others hate unions and blame them for all of the job theft we've experienced. Hour after hour they subject themselves to the propaganda, then complain about it on DU. To which I say, .

So I guess the point is that if and when we decide to take our country back, Big Media would be an excellent place to start. There just isn't the will power right now though.

Any change that occurs peacefully at this point will be for the worse - if actual Dems and other patriots just step aside while we slip into complete fascism. Any movement in the correct direction is going to have to overcome the full power of the Bush/Bankster/Media cabal. We did our best in November 2008 to rectify the situation lawfully, and it's obvious today that it was woefully inadequate.

My worst fear is not that we'll end up living in Franco's Spain or Stalin's Russia. It's that we'll go there without any resistance. FWIW, I plan to try to expatriate in a couple years if some changes haven't begun for the good. It sickens me to have to live the last 20 years of my life in a different country, but I would rather flee than live under President Palin.

As you probably know, however, many of Hitler's modern-day fans (Marge Schott, for example) like to say, "he had a good idea, then he went too far". Indeed, if he had stopped with elimination of the Jews, and not tried to take over Europe, would the world have fought back?

At present, the Bush family are content with terrorizing Americans and engaging in some geographically confined military actions which enrich them and their friends, but don't draw the ire of the rest of the world. Maybe the 4th Reich is more savvy than the 3rd. THey have certainly been in power longer, and their propaganda apparatus makes Goebbels' look like a grade school newspaper in comparison. I recently scolded a DUer for threatening to write a strongly worded e-mail to Chuck Todd after a typical right-wing segment on one of the interchangeable GOP TV outlets. She replied that it's "good to let them know we're onto them". There is the major difference this time around - the German Jews didn't worship their oppressors.

I always enjoy your journal.

The psychopathology of the 4th Reich (bushies, in your vernacular) is really astounding. Some kook was on with Hartmann yesterday. He's of the "The Socialists want to take all of your guns" subspecies. Thom began by asking him, "What do you mean by Socialist?", and the Bushie replied (paraphrasing), "someone who takes all of his orders from the Big Brother Government, and likes it that way". Just like their kindred 3rd Reich brethren, the Bushies don't know WHY they hate socialists (trade unionists, Bolsheviks, Jews), or even what a Socialist is, but their hatred is intense nevertheless. Jeff Shelby says out loud that he isn't sure that Obama is a US-born citizen, just to keep that ultra-insane niche of the 4th Reich chewing on their window sills.

Goebbels used to meet each morning with the media and tell them what they were going to write/say that day. Rove has his blast faxes. Non-believers were soon purged from any positions of media power during the 3rd Reich. 99% of the current media has passed the Rove ideological purity test. Someone like Donahue can get fired for simply being "not pro-war enough", while people like Weiner, Medved, Coulter, Beck, Liddy, and others can openly threaten lives and continue to get more work than they can handle.

I am hoping that Obama pursues justice for the entire Bush syndicate. The reason is that we at this moment in time have the numbers and, IMO, the will power to prevail if the (inevitable) critical mass is reached. 8 years from now may well be too late. Limpballs and the rest of the American Pravda probably believe themselves to be beyond the reach of justice after 20 years of propaganda without retribution, but they are sadly mistaken. I am in the final 3rd of my life, and am hoping to see the reclaiming of the America I grew up in before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Obama can take a giant step toward that end by initiating prosecution of those who have steered us into the 4th Reich

Iraq burned, New Orleans flooded, and Bush remained oblivious to each and every pratfall on his watch. Americans essentially stopped listening to him after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, but he still doesn’t grasp the finality of their defection. Lately he’s promised not to steal the spotlight from Barack Obama once he’s in retirement — as if he could do so by any act short of running naked through downtown Dallas. The latest CNN poll finds that only one-third of his fellow citizens want him to play a post-presidency role in public life.

Bush is equally blind to the collapse of his propaganda machinery. Almost poignantly, he keeps trying to hawk his goods in these final days, like a salesman who hasn’t been told by the home office that his product has been discontinued. Though no one is listening, he has given more exit interviews than either Clinton or Reagan did. Along with old cronies like Karl Rove and Karen Hughes, he has also embarked on a Bush “legacy project,” as Stephen Hayes of The Weekly Standard described it on CNN.

To this end, Rove has repeated a stunt he first fed to the press two years ago: he is once again claiming that he and Bush have an annual book-reading contest, with Bush chalking up as many as 95 books a year, by authors as hifalutin as Camus. This hagiographic portrait of Bush the Egghead might be easier to buy were the former national security official Richard Clarke not quoted in the new Vanity Fair saying that both Rice and her deputy, Stephen Hadley, had instructed him early on to keep his memos short because the president is “not a big reader.”

...

The crowning personality tic revealed by Bush’s final propaganda push is his bottomless capacity for self-pity. “I was a wartime president, and war is very exhausting,” he told C-Span. “The president ends up carrying a lot of people’s grief in his soul,” he told Gibson. And so when he visits military hospitals, “it’s always been a healing experience,” he told The Wall Street Journal. But, incredibly enough, it’s his own healing he is concerned about, not that of the grievously wounded men and women he sent to war on false pretenses. It’s “the comforter in chief” who “gets comforted,” he explained, by “the character of the American people.” The American people are surely relieved to hear it.

Entire rant is spectacular:

If the situation were reversed, and a shady GOP governor had made an interim appointment (like in IL), and the GOP Senate candidate were ahead in a close race (like in MN), the seating of both would-be Senators would already be a fair accompli. Hate Radio, Cabal "News", and the rest of Big Media would be declaring the new make-up of the Senate 59-41. They would be blaring about how the treasonous Dems are trying to tear up the Constitution whilst sucking on sour grapes. Finally, Harry & Chuck and the rest of our "leadership" would have acquiesced on both fronts, going on TV and saying that it's time to end the feud and get on to the country's business. Certainly Bitch McConnell would not be refusing to recognize the temporary appointee.

But, as it is, we're us and they're them. The next Congress will convene with only one Senator each from IL and MN. Dollars to donuts says that:

1. There will be no junior senator from IL during the entire next session of Congress. Blago won't go peacefully, and Bitch will (threaten to) fillibuster the attempted seating of anyone that Rod appoints.

2. Norm Coleman will eventually take the other MN seat with Klochubar. Eventually some Bush-packed court will give him the election, and Harry will call for national unity and seat Coleman.

The points are these:

1. Repukes contest fair elections, and get them overturned. We don't even contest fraudulent ones.
2. Repukes stick together. We, for moral reasons or from battered spouse syndrome, acquiesce at the first sign of resistance
3. Big Media is an enemy of America.

The question is, what to do?

Please don't respond with "Write a LTTE". Think outside the box. And if you're a dedicated Fox "News" watcher, your suggestions probably would not be that helpful either.

Edit: If you want to see the rationalization that 15 years of abuse can prompt,

esp the last one. If Obama tries to triangulate like WJC did, he will be trounced by the media, the GOP congresspeople, and his 2012 opponent. If he gets evangelicals to come around to his way of thinking, and not vice-versa, this could be one of the great presidencies of all time.

America is wimpering, in her death throes. We don't even bother to protest having our phones tapped, e-mail read, internet searches scanned, and elections stolen. All of the great empires throughout history have, right before they died out, tolerated and then embraced fascism. The key symptom of us being on our collective death bed is not the recent disasters of foreign policy - it came before that. In 2000, a brilliant, moral, learned, experienced patriot - one of the most qualified ever to run for president - ran against a stupid, ignorant, lying, drunken, sociopathic ne'er-do-well who couldn't name the 50 states if you spotted him 45 - one of the least qualified ever. The fact that Smirk got more than about 8% of the vote was crystal clear evidence that our nation had terminal cancer. We're not screaming - we're numb from the metaphorical morphine of hate radio, fascist-controleld media, and smiling blond idiots telling us that SMirk "probably has a six-pack".

and then for the next two years just let the grip of fascism get even tighter. Sort of like we've done for the last 6 years. We as Americans have lost the will to live free. We're very happy living under a totalitarian regime, as long as Fear Factor is still on the air.

the game's been rigged, but lose we do, day after day. It's not our fault, really, at least at this moment. We are out of options. They control the media, the banks, and the voting machines, and there is nothing we can do to stop the onslaught. I for one will be looking for work abroad in a year, keeping my head down in the meantime - that's the only way out for me. I'll be removing my impeachment bumper stickers and the like - it won't be long before they begin assaulting people like us openly, and we won't have any recourse. Read about that guy in Florida who has been arrested for protesting the crooked elections in Boss Jeb's Banana Republic.

IMO the media is the main problem. Take today's spectacle of the fat sissy bashing Kerry and Murtha's service records. If we owned the media, every talking head and every radio station would be running constantly quotes like "The fact that a draft-dodging coward like Mr. Rove would attack decorated war heroes shows just how depraved the GOP is". After a couple days of this, Rover would fairly be the object of scorn and ridicule.

But we don't own the media - rove does. So his audacious slander becomes the talking point for every radio station and Cabal "News" network, and so the slander becomes the truth.

The upside is that Rove and his minions will bring the demise of the US. they will likely get their wish of tunring the nation into a religious state, sort of like Israel, and soon thereafter we'll be overrun by China or some other country that's more free than ours.
