(On edit: Alex is currently our CFO, the only Democrat who won in this area last go-round. She is extremely competant and popular and although I had hoped she would wipe the floor with Mel Martinez for his Senate seat - I would love to have her as my Governor here in Florida)

Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse the president on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats, campaign aides and experts working with the transition team.
A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obam...
On the socialist site, , President-elect Obama has already changed this government in a shocking way:

As Josh Marshall , "And as you can see, not only has the president been demoted to a position under the constitution. But the vice-president (as shown by the red arrow) has had his own fourth branch revoked and been reassigned to the executive branch ..."
Dude, that is too much!
Not only that, you... yes YOU! and any crazy communist can in his administration.

He looked himself in the eye, the mirror reflecting back the old twinkle he’d thought was gone for good. Heh. The weight of the past year was lifted up and he could breathe, really breathe again. The phone had stopped ringing; all those angry, annoying bullies he forced himself to be genial to had given up in disgust. Their money was gone, and his devil’s pact from 2000 was paid.
That woman who had seemed like such a sweet escape had lost her appeal, like someone you'd picked up in a bar, seen...
Friends,
Who among us is not at a loss for words? Tears pour out. Tears of joy. Tears of relief. A stunning, whopping landslide of hope in a time of deep despair.
In a nation that was founded on genocide and then built on the backs of slaves, it was an unexpected moment, shocking in its simplicity: Barack Obama, a good man, a black man, said he would bring change to Washington, and the majority of the country liked that idea. The racists were present throughout the campaign and in the voting...
this is the absolute BEST email I got in my inbox today!
Dear XXXX,
I write you today with a great deal of joy and delight. After eight long and trying years, George W. Bush and his gang of neo-con cronies are finally — officially — on their way out the door.
Here at CREDO, we think that calls for a celebration. Lots of celebrations, in fact. All over this great country of ours, from sea to shining sea.
To help CREDO members like you celebrate, we'll help pick up the tab. Here's the deal....
He sank into the leather chair and squinted at the odd label on the beer he was holding. Belgium? He hoped it didn’t have that funny German taste to it. He wiped the wet bottom of the bottle on his khakis and glanced around for an opener. Seeing none, he flexed his fingers over the top and used his wedding ring to pop the top off. Relaxing back into the seat, he took a long pull. It was cold and had that Canadian ale taste going that he knew and liked. If only he could put his feet up, but the p...

Democratic leaders are discussing a major reshuffling of Senate committee chairmanships, according to multiple sources, and the proposed changes include ousting Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) from his coveted chairmanship.
Lieberman, a former Democrat who supports Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president, is likely to lose his gavel on the Homeland Security Committee he has chaired since January 2007, say the sources who see him being replaced by Sen. Daniel Akaka (Hawaii), the committee’...

She grinned at her reflection in the floor length mirror just brought into her hotel suite by the awestruck young bellhop. It widened into a smile as she ran her hands down the red wool jacket that curved just so over her bust leading down to meet the black skirt that fit her in a way that turned heads. Damn, she didn’t know quality like this, sumptuousness like this, existed in clothing. It made her feel more important just getting dressed. No wonder...
She stood ramrod straight, her thoughts on Bitsy. Her snide email had unsettled her. Was this what she was in for on her return to her home state when this was over, if things continued the way they were going? She hadn’t thought that far ahead. Last time, it hadn’t been this big, so a loss would be greater, deeper than before. The burst of applause startled her… damn, what part of the speech was he on? She glanced lovingly at her husband, nodding and smiling, and clapped with enthusiasm. Happi...
The uncomfortably pregnant teenager adjusted the infant sleeping in her arms; his soft hair was damp with sweat where it met with her chest. His deep, steady breathing calmed her, and she closed her eyes and focused on the sweet rhythm as the plane brought them closer to their destination.
The balding man watched her intently, perhaps reminiscing about a simpler time when his children slumbered on his own lap. With a sigh, he shifted his attention to the beautifully manicured fingertips resting...
After a furtive glance around the smallish conference room for members of the press, he sat down with a thump, and kicked his Ferragamo loafers off. It was a signal we knew well, and there were quick motions to attentiveness; all leaned forward and inhaled. "Who the hell's was supposed to be in charge of arranging this damn event. I won't even go into what is wrong with it."
He ended on a bark, and the pencil-slim blonde seated to the right, and slightly behind him winced as if avoiding a blow....
I have never even seen a line to vote. I usually get up early on election day, drive right up to a good parking spot, the nice old ladies sign me in, and I'm off. Five minutes later, I've done my civic duty and I get on with my day.
The past year, I early voted. Same thing, except they made me repeat my address back for some reason. We used e-voting, and I don't like it. My husband absentee votes every year.
This year, its day three of early voting here in Florida. I had the day off and figure...

In the short term, all the solutions to the current crisis require that governments take on more debts and larger obligations. This is inevitable and necessary. But that doesn't mean we should, as some noted economists advocate, stimulate the economy with more tax cuts. That would be only one more way to keep the party going artificially—like asking a drunk to go to AA next year, but in the meantime to have even more whisky. A far better stimulus would be to announce and expedite major i...

The Washington Post maintains a webpage titled "Political Landscape 2008." This webpage has been updated recently enough to reflect Obama's 13.8% polling lead in Pennsylvania, a trend that uses polls released as recently as Wednesday. On this webpage, the Washington Post collects recent polling data, and then declares a state to either be a "battleground," or leaning toward one party or the other. Here are some of their polling averages and diagnoses:

For all of you who have lost, or are afraid you will lose your jobs in this awful economy, may I offer my opinion on what I consider to be Barack Obama's finest . This, to me, will be President Obama's New Deal, the shining star atop his legacy.
During the Great Depression the was a concrete example of a huge government project that put hundreds of thousands of unemployed Americans back to work. When you visit the trails in National Parks, when you drive on highways, see dams, bridges, telepho...

As you might notice, Palin only cites one discernible foreign interaction under her purview: Trade missions.
I spent some time on the Governor's Web site seeking more details about her trade negotiations with Russia. There's a press release about Gov. Palin's meeting with a trade mission from the Yukon, but nothing about Russia anywhere in the archives. Tony Knowles, a Democrat who was governor from 1994-2002, led a trade mission -- back in 1997, while Palin was running Wasilla -- to t...
Looking at the details in , I am actually optimistic; not just about our economy, but about our future as a nation.
This legislation is a true bipartisan effort. Both sides obviously had a give and take, and in my opinion, it is a deal with some important components that are good for all of us. Here is an excerpt:
The plan calls for the Treasury Department to buy deeply distressed mortgage-backed securities and other bad debts held by banks and other investors. The money should help troubled ...
Well, fall has arrived in the Tampa Bay area, which would feel like a regular summer day to you northerners. Lots of people outside with their families today, enjoying the low humidity and sunshine.
When I first entered the gated community we were asked to canvass today, I got an icky feeling in my stomach. It was pretty fancy. My Gators had lost, far fewer volunteers showed up than expected, and my local staffer had dropped off HUGE walk lists this time. I was tired from staying up for Rachel'...

Conclusion
Even though the omission of cell phones from election polls does not currently make a large difference in the substantive results, Pew's surveys this year suggest at least the possibility of a small bias in landline surveys. Such a bias could be consequential in an election that appears to be very competitive right now, especially if significant numbers of young people turn out to vote. In particular, the research suggests that estimates of the candidate preferences of...
Last night, on DU - once again, I posted an OP with a link to Obama's Action Center. Once again, it sank like a rock (but thanks to those who rec'd it). Kind of sad, but I keep trying.
Well, I came home from a long day of work and was shuffling through my overflowing inbox, and glanced through the synopsis of the day that shows up there faithfully.
What do I see but this precious tidbit:

Use the same computer you are on now, and make a few phone calls. Its easy, and you will feel so good about yourself and what you are doing to help move our country forward.
Call until 8:00 pm, any day of the week.
Knock on doors very close to you.
You don't have to convert McCain voters, just identify Obama/Obama leaners/Undecideds and the issues that are important to them. That is all. It's fun and easy.
Please help if you can.
Thank you.

I hate to say this, but looking at the plan as leaked, I have to say no deal. Not unless Treasury explains, very clearly, why this is supposed to work, other than through having taxpayers pay premium prices for lousy assets.
...
The Treasury plan, by contrast, looks like an attempt to restore confidence in the financial system — that is, convince creditors of troubled institutions that everything’s OK — simply by buying assets off these institutions. This will only work if the prices...

TextHillary unveils new effort
MINNEAPOLIS — Hillary Rodham Clinton stepped up her efforts Friday to swing her supporters behind Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, her former rival for the nomination.
In an outreach dubbed "Hillary Sent Me," the New York senator invited her primary-season partisans to get involved directly in Obama's campaign and to donate to it. As part of that, she urged them to travel to a specific battleground state each weekend, beginning with New Hampshire ...
