The basic problem is not even that the Regressives got too much in their billionaire bailout:
The most important problem is that the most precedent-shattering aspect of the bill - - - - something that, incredibly, we are supposed to view as a "victory" for OUR SIDE - - - is a
poison pill attack on Social Security!
This bill is a short-sighted
bargain with the devil that
Bernie Sanders knows is designed to set the stage for the
slashing of Social Security and other programs.
No amount of "concessions" at this point can camouflage the fact that this bill is fundamentally and fatally flawed.
Not only is what the bad guys got too much. . . . But what we are perversely expected to believe is a "concession" to our side (a payroll tax holiday) is, in fact, a poison pill that
HAS LONG BEEN CHAMPIONED by a murderer's row of
avowed enemies of Social Security:
Dick Armey's Freedom Works, the neoconservative
American Enterprise Institute, ex-Republican Senate leader
Trent Lott back in 2001, and none other than
Mitch McConnell again in 2009. And it will set the stage for the GUTTING of Social Security.
This so called "compromise" was a "two-fer" for Regressives, and "Lose/Lose" for Progressives.

It's no accident that
Grover Norquist tells National Review Online that the deal is
“a much bigger victory than people see” for the Republicans.
At this point, seeking concessions to make this bill marginally less abominable is NOT the answer.
There is only one course of action appropriate. . . . .
We must DEFEAT IT.

To join Sen. Sanders in his fight to stop this bill,
here is his petition at Democracy for America:
No Deal
We urge Congress to reject the deal President Obama made with the Republicans and to do everything they can to address the needs of working people, senior citizens, and the unemployed while making sure that millionaires and billionaires are not given massive tax breaks.http://www.democracyforamerica.com/activit...
