Dear Attorney General Harris,
I am requesting that you make a statement and take action in reference to the intense local police activity towards the Occupy Wall Street Oakland protest site. Right now, there is an Iraq Veteran who was hit by a police projectile, and is currently in the hospital in serious condition. You must speak on this, and you cannot be concerned about the Mayor of Oakland, and why she ordered this, as she should not have.
Protestors must have the right to peacefully assemble in protest, and even the breaking of city ordinances cannot take priority or be an excuse for brutality initiated by our police force against American Citizens' rights.
During the Arab Spring, the police in Egypt did not attack the protestors, and I'm sure that they could have found an excuse to do so. Oakland is a very Democratic city, as is this state, and so it goes that there must be a statement emanating from you decrying the brutalities committed, no matter who does the deed. In this case, the police action has been hyperbolic and serves no good purpose, and it should not be allowed to continue.
Please contact Gov. Brown and Pres. Obama about sending in National Guards if you see fit, as we, as citizens cannot be harmed simply because we choose to protest inequities in our system, period. It is our constitutional right and perhaps even our duty, and I support these rights, as they are enshrined in our constitution. These are some of the rights that our Veterans have fought for and died for, for many years.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter, as there is no time to lose.
Peace to all,
XXXXXX
