Post your poetic ramblings here. :grouphug:
Cold and clear, the morning of a new promise
Dew-kissed eyes reflect hope and pride…
Relief...Yes, sweet relief.
For though trials yet await,
though each will have to sacrifice,
We are, once again, a free nation.

It started with a forgotten emmissions test about a month ago. I received a letter informing me that I was going to have to get it taken care of or I wouldn't be able to register my car. So I took care of it, and waited patiently for my forms to arrive in the mail.
But they didn't arrive. So I went to MVA today with a copy of the emmissions test in hand. Once there, I was informed that an unpaid parking ticket was holding up my registration. I admit it was my own stubborn fault. I just didn't r...
with regard to making help available to people who suffer from mental illnesses...especially to make people aware that there is no shame in seeking help.
Mental illnesses are diseases...NOT character flaws!
Droopy, I hope you can take a little time to express your experience and views to the media. Many radio and TV news shows are seeking comments on this tragedy. I think yours would be most valuable. Thank you for all that you do!
I will not be running for president in 2008.
I want to focus on pressing issues.:beer::beer:
Thank you. That is all.
This is outrageous! The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has released its proposal to strip wolves of crucial Endangered Species Act protections in Idaho and parts of Wyoming. Both states are now preparing massive wolf eradication plans, and hundreds of wolves could be killed.
Send a message to Dirk Kempthorne, U.S. Secretary of the Interior, who oversees the Fish and Wildlife Service.

I just wanted to thank you for all you did to make DU such a special place. You always treated people with kindness and respect...even if they weren't acting particularly kind or respectful. How deeply you are already missed.
Thank you for your stories, which always came from your heart and were offered as gifts to us. I'll never forget the exchanges we had, reminiscing over beautiful places we'd visited in the low country. I haven't visited the area in many years; but I think I'd like to soon....

The bartender says, "Hello Mr President."
My sister-in-law went to hear my brother's band play last weekend at an American Legion Hall where they perform on a regular basis. She went up to these two women (ages 80-something and 90) who were sitting at the bar drinking and smoking, and encouraged them to get up and dance. So they did...less energetically than some; but no less enjoyably.
When the song was done, they walked back to the bar, and the 90 year old woman fell down and died. There was an emergency-tech there who tried to do CP...
The method generally employed and the expectation of results is flawed.
We need to realize that prayer isn't a tool for getting stuff...whether we're asking for money, health, or the partner of our dreams; or asking on behalf of someone else.
Prayer isn't something we give to our various gods and goddesses because it pleases them. It's a coping mechanism for all aspects of existence...pleasant, unpleasant, and indifferent. It does not directly change the course of one's life. But because it c...

Jerusalem Church was established by the Salzburgers in Ebenezer during the 1730s. Ebenezer, left in ruins after the Revolutionary War, had disappeared by 1855, but Jerusalem Church, now known as Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, still stands. It is one of the few buildings in Georgia left intact after the Revolutionary War.
Some of my ancestors may have helped to build this church. They were there when the colony first settled. I know that my great-grandfather was a blacksmith lik...
Thanks to those of you who helped contribute to this thread. Here's the list we compiled, with a couple of additions to make up for the brews that are no longer with us (may they RIP).
I've included as much info on distribution as I could, to save a little footwork.
While it may be tempting for some of us to ignore the inclusion of Miller products, O'Doul's, and the like; I'm going to take the opportunity to try them along with the others. If nothing else, it'll help me appreciate carefully cr...
