http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G7gq7GQ71c When you watch this video of G. Felix Allen, Junior, get past the word 'macaca'. Watch and absorb, instead, the context and the tone. They've been trying to spin the actual words many ways and look silly doing it. We've been harping on the word and its etymology. And the fact that it is probable it was learned in childhood from his mother.
That debate is ...... well ...... debatable.
What is not debatable is the context and tone. G. Felix Allen, Junior, was clearly intent on insulting the dark skinned young man, making him the object of derision for an all white audience. Even if the word used to describe him was much more benign, the indisputable 'welcome to America' part was reason enough to criticize Allen.
G. Felix Allen, Junior, in front of an all-white rural audience, chose to single out a young man of some obvious ethnicity with a derisive and unwelcoming, non-inclusive focus. No matter the words, when taken as a whole, the entire incident speaks volumes about the inherent prejuduces of a sitting United States Senator. The tone was venomous and insulting and obviously intended to be exactly that.
Let the nutters try to spin the meaning of the word. For our part, let's not lose sight of the tone and the context. G. Felix Allen, Junior, is a racist and his recent remarks proved it.
