(two disclaimers here: 1) this is my first post so I'm learning as I go and 2) this is a rough draft of my letter; comments welcome because I want something "sort of" polished before I send it. THANKS!

With all titular formalities aside, Mr. President, I’m going to get right down to business. I daresay my little epistle in and of itself won’t be the straw to break the old camel’s back but I hope to make enough noise (real and cyber-) to get some attention where I most want it (from my Representative, my Senator, the President of the AFL-CIO and my cyber families). It might not happen... but I love good drama as much as the next dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.

So, Mr. President, this isn’t much of a polite request but more of an impatient demand from one of your employers.

Resign.

Immediately.

For the survival of the Democratic Party. The real Democratic Party, by the way, represented by proud progressives who voted for you in a bitterly-contested primary that cost many of us friends and family members and in a general election that saw way too many of us expend resources we simply did not have to make your Presidency a reality.

And what did we get for our blood, sweat and tears?

“Bi-partisanship” touted as seats at the table for the very people--with the very philosophies--who ran this Ship of State aground in the first place. To placate this lot in terms of Wall Street “reform” and Health Care “reform,” you and your people made an absolute mockery of your campaign promises--and many, many viable solutions--in an effort to play “fair.”

And now the opposition sitting on the Cat Food Commission is poised to gut Social Security with many of the same tactics used to such lethal effect with banking and health “care.”

And for your willingness to play “fair/nice,” your presidency is falling to pieces every day. Alarmingly, one of those ubiquitous polls released just this week indicates that your shadow is falling over vulnerable Democrats up for election this November.

So resign.

Immediately.

Make way for Joe Biden to finish out your term.

That way, Mr. President, we Democrats can start sorting and sifting through the roster of winnable Progressives RIGHT NOW.

We can allocate our precious financial resources to our choices among those winnable Progressives RIGHT NOW.

So that our candidate-of-choice will be front and center by Super Tuesday ’12.

Resign, Mr. President.

Immediately.

Yes, you SHOULD.
