Re Sweet Sarkozy the American:

McCain: We now have a pro-American president of France...which shows if you live long enough, anything can happen.

Big problem. My love and friend is a businessman born and raised in Lyon. He has business interests around the world (kind of how we met). Brief discussion a little while ago (it's late there right now) and this quote came in on his English Translation - Daily Poli Buzz. . . his assistant pulls this together every Sunday/Monday morning and got it to him this evening. Basically an overview of what world politics news there is and how it could impact their revenue stream that week.

Something about Vache! Merde!

McCain is now really going overboard with manipulating his base. His base who HATE my sweet frog and my many phop/froggy friends. The ones that call them cheese eating surrender monkeys and say they 'smell'.

Do these people REALLY think Sarkozy is going to embrace McCain? So the people of France go - so their President goes. Seriously - the French 'State' is centralized, and authoritarian - but its' scared as shit of the People. When I was there in May - the number of French people - young and old, rich and poor that were excited at the prospect of a President Obama or a President Clinton . . . The fist bump from the elderly guys playing boules in the St. Tropez Place des Lices. The middle aged man that sold me my house of Rondini sandals that got a big smile when I said I was a Democrat and said "Eeether one. Cleentone or Oba-mah weel do!" The elderly women in the little Casino in the village that was tickled pink . . .

Okay, not sure if this is coming across as the mad ravings of a Rochesterian transplanted to New Jersey on a Sunday afternoon - but at the end of the day. At the end of the day . . .

That love isn't going to last that long. If McCain wins, and the French PEOPLE believe that McCain is more of the same and that we are going to cut off MORE of their oil line through our imperialist behavior (and trust me - the French KNOW imperialistic behavior ) - that Sarkozy love will go back to the good DeGaulle days of not being friends but of 'interests'.

I have to admit - I'm part French and both my middle and first name are family names. My great grandfather landed here post WWI . . . so I've taken the bigotry towards the French to heart these past 5 years.

And maybe McCain's little 'joke' though well intentioned is just too little - too late. And I don't think its going to play too well with Sarkozy who said we could be friends AFTER we make right on Iraq, the environment, etc. etc. when he was here this past November.

McCain's arrogance never fails to astound me. That's all I'm saying . . .
