The crisis was that votes didn't get counted and eligible, registered voters were eliminated from the voter rolls or otherwise discouraged from voting.

I never understood this imperative to get someone sworn in immediately, even if that person didn't win and there is evidence of fraud. And they always pretend that the danger to democracy lies in not immediately accepting the apparent results of election returns even if there is evidence of fraud, when the exact opposite is obviously the case.

"Forget the votes! Forget the will of the people! We must get on with the business of democracy!" That seems to be the rallying cry of congress, the courts and especially of the media. It's Orwellian.

I had a friend who said he admired John Kerry for doing the "honorable" thing by not contesting the obviously fraudulent results from Ohio. John Kerry betrayed those who voted for him and betrayed the principles of democracy by not contesting those results. How the hell is that honorable? Of course, this friend is a kool-aid guzzling fan of Glenn Beck, but I know he wasn't alone in that sentiment.
