Just got off the phone with American. Trying to get a seat assignment for upcoming vacation. I can access a seat map on the computer and seats are showing available, but my res. for whatever reason says I can't assign myself a seat. So I call AA and the reservationist informs me he can assign a seat for me but it's going to cost me $25.00. Total bullshit. It's bad enough that they nickel and dime the public for luggage and food, but to get a seat assignment? Come on.

I'm a former travel agent - quit back in '94 and I never would have believed it's come to this.

Between nudie scans, feel-ups, and airlines' highway robbery, traveling by air has become a completely shitful experience. If I could swim to my destination, I would. This is ridiculous. End of rant.

The situation:

A week ago my 17-year-old daughter was set to attend a concert with a friend. I bought tickets (25.00 each) for both girls and the friend paid me back for hers. The tickets were to be picked up at will call at the concert venue. The arrangement was for me to drive both girls to the show - an hour away.

The morning of the show the friend texted my daughter to say she was going to the show with another group of kids - basically left my daughter in the lurch. My daughter was pissed off and warned the girl that her ticket was at will call in my name and she wouldn't be able to get it until we arrived. My daughter never told her she was not getting her ticket.

The girl left a tearful message on my answering machine while I was out, and I responded as soon as I received it telling her not to worry, that I would collect her ticket and get it to her well before showtime. I asked her to respond to my message, but she never called or texted back. My daughter attempted to get in touch with her several times over the next two hours, but the girl refused to pick up the phone or respond to texts.

When we arrived at the venue (2 hours before the doors opened) the girl was in line with the other group and informed my daughter that she was "done" with the friendship and didn't need or want the ticket. She had purchased another.

Tonight the girl sent a series of texts demanding her money back for the original ticket. I will probably end up giving it back just to get the kid off my daughter's back, but I am curious as to what you would do in this situation. (I know it's only $25.00 and hardly worth the aggravation, but my daughter insists we owe the girl nothing.)

That statement is the type of total falsehood and misrepresentation that the Dems need to seize and hammer him on. He shouldn't be allowed to get away with rewriting recent history.

A young woman with an adorable toddler was waiting in line behind me. A middle aged man got in line behind her and asked how old her son was. She answered he was 13 months but big for his age and that she and her husband were figuring someday he might be a linebacker. The man replied that's a good ambition, but perhaps he should reach for the stars and aspire to be President someday. Without missing a beat the young mother said, "No, I don't think so. The American people seem to think that's a job for a stupid person and my son is quite smart." The man laughed and said, "Yep we've got a moron at the helm. Maybe the American people will wake up and vote for someone up to the job next time. Sure hope so for the sake of our kids."

If strangers have no qualms about openly dissing the chimp in a public place, the tide has indeed turned. There was a long line in that place. Both people could be heard by everyone, and not one person spoke up to defend Bush. It was a wonderful moment. Just thought I'd share.

Over the weekend at a campaign event George Allen was asked if he wanted to join the NAACP. He responded enthusiastically, until he found out he needed to shell out $750.00. At that point he asked about "other options." LOL! At any rate,he was on the spot and he joined. Read about it here:
