I got an e-mail that said this:

Gang
I don't often relay this kind of stuff...........and so dont fret about getting on my "list " for political BS.....but this one is so on target that I think it is worth your consideration. God bless America!!

Regards..................................Jim

Your U.S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises for 2009.

1. They voted to not give you a S.S. cost of living raise in 2010 and 2011.
2. Your Medicaid premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2-years and
you will not get the 3% COLA: $660/yr. Your total 2-yr loss and cost is
-$1,600 or -$3,200 for husband and wife.
3. Over 2-yrs they ea. get $10,000.
4. Do you feel SCREWED?

5. Will they have your cost of drugs - doctor fees - local taxes - food, etc., increase. NO WAY. They have a raise and better benefits. Why care about you? You never did anything about it in the past. You obviously are too
stupid or don't care.

6. Do you really think they care about you? SEND THE MESSAGE--
You're FIRED. IN 2010 YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET RID OF THE SITTING CONGRESS: Up to 1/3 OF THE SENATE, AND 100% OF THE HOUSE.

MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL MAD IN NOVEMBER 2010 AND REMIND THEIR REPLACEMENTS NOT TO SCREW UP.

It is ok to forward this to your sphere of influence if you finally tired of the abuse.

| NO INCUMBENTS IN 2010
| Don't re-elect anybody !!!

------------------

This was my "reply all" response:

My guess is that this is one of those "grass roots" e-mails that originated in some right-wing think tank or the offices of the Republican National Committee. Much of it is untrue or misleading. Let's correct the record.

Congress did not exactly "vote down" a Social Security benefits increase. The formula is based on the inflation rate. At this time, inflation in the U.S. economy is virtually zero or less (deflation). When Obama called on Congress to provide seniors with a one-time payment in lieu of a Social Security increase, guess who opposed him? That's right, it was the Republicans. The GOP has run dozens of filibusters in the Senate this year, with the intention of stopping progress on virtually every piece of legislation.

Likewise, Congress did not "vote themselves a raise." Congressional pay goes up automatically unless they actively vote it down. Now, I agree that they SHOULD have moved to keep the pay increase from taking effect. They were weasels not to do that. But, it is NOT true that they voted themselves a raise.

There is absolutely no way I will be voting to elect a Republican majority in 2010. The Republicans created the mess we are in. Even if the Democrats have been inept at cleaning up the mess, let's not forget who created it.

Rush Limbaugh Says Obama is "Destroying the Private Sector" and "May be on Purpose" - Video 11/1/09

Here is video of Rush Limbaugh today in an clip from his extensive interview with Chris Wallace saying that President Obama is "destroying" the private sector in America, and that he "has to think it may be on purpose."

I think Rush is absolutely right. Obama's policies are designed to enlarge government and shrink the private sector. He has no desire to help small businesses to flourish or to encourage the expansion of a strong private sector.

You can see the entire interview here.

Selected responses:

IF there was a free press, the media should be clambering to get BO impeached for treason and sedition.

Of course there isnt. So sleep well Barry

-----------------

Lest we forget one year ago, the candidate, Barry Soetoro, was painting a much different picture of himself to the country. How many out there truly believe Barry would have won the election had he shown his true Mr. Hyde from the get-go. I agree with Rush 100% - everything Barry is doing to America is coldly calculated to bring us down - not without a fight, I pray.

Obama and the gang who put him into the White House have no clue. They've studied little more than Communist models of governance.
In their self-imposed censorship of history, they forgot all about the Weimar Republic, Eric Rohm, Adolph Hitler, and the interplay of a very high unemployment rate among young men and the rise of the SA and SS.

That's why they're really not doing anything about unemployment. They imagine that the broad masses of young men will simply turn to them as supplicants forgetting that in Weimar the unemployed broad masses of young men turned to themselves and began creating their own order and sources of income.

To the employed older Germans, the SA looked like a criminal gang. To the members of the SA it looked like a job.

After the killing off of the senior SA officers and Rohm, Adolph Hitler and his henchmen managed to convert most of the SA into SS types pledged to personal loyal to himself.

I doubt large masses of unemployed young men have ever done anything differently ~ they are no more capable of throwing themselves on the mercy of the idiots running the government than anyone else.

Think of Obama as a Von Hindenberg for a few moments ~ good at giving speeches, wear's attractive clothing, attends all really good parties, even does casket ceremonies in a top flight fashion. But, Hindenberg was entering into senility and Obama has a more naturally gained stupidity that might well equate to senility.

Times are tough now. They will be tougher yet.

Here’s an email I sent to a friend earlier today in response to an article he sent. The article was claiming that our leader’s are acting out of ignorance. I disagreed:

The ignorance and lack of a sense of limitations may play a roll in most of the liberal voters and perhaps some of the congress. Perhaps even Barney Frank and Pelosi are just plain stupid too . Obama however, and his close advisors are not. I think they know exactly what they are doing. Obama has said many times that he will “build America on a new foundation” (google it).

In order to build on a new foundation you need to tear the old one out - including the house. Obama is trying to dismantle the free market system, the power of the individual and the power of the United States so it can be a Marxist state. “Spread the wealth around” don’t ya know. Look how he has used all of the various crisis as an excuse to expand the roll of government. Healthcare is a huge one. If I recall correctly, health care is 1/7 of our economy. That’s a good foot in the door for creating a Marxist utopia.

However, this country was born under the guiding hand of God, and I pray that it will continue under His protection. However, if I was God, I’d be awful tempted to let it go to Hell seeing as how we have been acting lately.

I can understand Rush’s use of delicate language, but I think it’s plain as day that Obama is absolutely hell-bent on destroying the private sector and creating a fascist oligarchy.

Absolutely EVERTHING he is doing hurts the private sector while growing government.

Yes, I believe this government is criminal, treasonous, and a domestic enemy to the People and the Constitution. I fear for what lies ahead for us and our children.

-----------------

I repeat what I have said elsewhere on Free Republic: I fear that the only way to keep the peace may be for the U.S. to have a Constitutional restoration similar to the one in Honduras. We have a rogue president on our hands and a Congress full of traitors. Those sworn to defend the Constitution may well have to keep to the letter of their oaths in a very courageous and historic manner — and soon. If they don’t, my fear is that the people will feel forced to rise up and exercise their 2nd Amendment rights.

The self-identifying conservative Republicans who make up the base of the Republican Party stand a world apart from the rest of America, according to focus groups conducted by Democracy Corps. These base Republican voters dislike Barack Obama to be sure – which is not very surprising as base Democrats had few positive things to say about George Bush – but these voters identify themselves as part of a ‘mocked’ minority with a set of shared beliefs and knowledge, and commitment to oppose Obama that sets them apart from the majority in the country. They believe Obama is ruthlessly advancing a ‘secret agenda’ to bankrupt the United States and dramatically expand government control to an extent nothing short of socialism. They overwhelmingly view a successful Obama presidency as the destruction of this country’s founding principles and are committed to seeing the president fail.

This is about Michigan, but applicable to the entire economy:

http://www.freep.com/article/20091019/COL0...

Here in Mother Michigan, she of the 15.3% jobless rate, there is much consternation about brain drain, the flight of talented young people.

That is driving Terry Barclay bonkers as she reflects on results of the 2009 Michigan Women's Leadership Index, which shows -- as similar surveys did in 2003, 2005 and 2007 -- that women hold fewer than 10% of the top-earning jobs and corporate board seats in the state's top 100 public companies.

"Michigan is missing an opportunity," says Barclay, president and chief executive officer of the Inforum Center for Leadership, noting that 58% of the state's college graduates are women.

"This is about the bottom line, not just diversity," Barclay says. "It's about retaining and attracting talent as we reinvent our city and our state."

Apparently, the idea that all Americans should have access to health care is deeply un-American (see: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2... ). Some comments:

I think people are way behind. I don’t think they plan on ever leaving office, because we will be under dictatorship.

How often are we seeing news from other countries? Hardly any. How about what’s happening in the rest of the states next to you? Or across the country?

People are starved for news because we are not getting it. we get the same fluff stories over and over and over, every day...

People wrongly assume that we live in a democracy, but we live in a representative democracy. Once we elect our representative, they are free to destroy us, punishable only by being thrown out of office after the fact.

They do not need to listen to us if they think their goals are more important than what the people want.

What would have to occur before the public became violent, on either side? What right will be the last straw when taken away.

Who will be the leaders to lead from the front?

If HR 3200 or any of its operative parts are passed in disregard of the US publics denial of it, one can easily predict what happens next. S. 31 of HR 3200 is particularly egregious, as it vilates IRS privacy law, and allows for a medical fee scale based on income, not on services rendered, and opens the door for the IRS information to be used in the collection of unpaid medical bills ( redistribution of wealth through medical bills)
There will be the increased radicalization of Obama's opposition, with violence and death ensuing, which is what happens when the will of the people is disregarded by elected representatives.

People will refuse to obey the law.Or have anything to do with it.

THe violence will reach a crescendo around the elections of 2010.

And the style and manner that Obama exhibited in Kenya, 2006/2007, which resulted in inter-tribal genocide, will seize America by its throat.

We do not have a government running our nation. We have an Obama Junta. We should not lose sight of that fact.

If texas goes it alone, there is nothing to stop the leftist creeps here. I think we will be at their mercy. It is not a great thing to contemplate. The thugs from Juarez would swarm to take over here. I do not have enough firepower for that! I don’t know what to think?

Got Czars?
All the evidence points to the fact that we are already living under a dictatorship. The politicians are not staking their careers on some hope that we will be under a dictatorship in the future, they realize that we are already there, and that is the reason for their unbridled hutzpah. After all, what is an elected government that denies the people what they want and simply tells them what will be? It is Russia, it is Venezuela, it is Mexico, it is Iran, it is.... America. "Freedom" in our times is an illusion.

Our country is like a bear who is starving to death but isn't feeling it yet due to an abundance of past eating and stored fat. We are living off that 'stored fat'. We are sailing on the momentum of our previous wealth and freedoms but it cannot last. We have, I believe, already been dealt the death blow of dictatorship by the godless, gutless, self-serving DC scum.

by jiminycricket000

---------------------

I'M afraid they are NOT worried about their careers because they also have another nuclear option to enact just before the election.

I have never seen them to so disregard what the public reaction will be to what they do. It worries me that they know they will continue in power - a nice little national emergency that required Martial Law would shut down any election...

WE can't get our heads around such a scenario, but we've seen enough by now to WAKE UP to who and what we are dealing with.

Think they wouldn't do it? It's been done countless times by just such tyrants down through history. We'd better not put all our eggs in the Nov 2010 basket. It may be too late by then.

We must fight NOW - each and every day.

SILENT NO MORE

I am sorry. But I really don't think it is a bad thing that Obama received a prestigious international honor. To say that it is a bad thing smacks of an odd mix of xenophobia mixed with Obama derangement syndrome -- with a hint of anti-Americanism thrown in.

When people start reveling in America's setbacks (Olympics) and criticizing its wins (Peace Prize) for partisan reasons, then something is very wrong.

One of the most high-profile progressives in the House of Representatives argued on Monday that a new insurance lobby report disparaging the Senate's main reform effort gives an unexpected and strong boost to hopes for passing a public option.

Appearing on MSNBC, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) was asked about the hot news of the day on the health care front: a new report commissioned by America's Health Insurance Plans, which concluded that, under the Senate Finance Committee's legislation, family premiums would rise more than $4,000.

Rush-ing to judgment: National commentators don't understand Detroit's plight

They came in droves.

By 10 a.m. Wednesday, Cobo Center was drawing a bigger crowd than you could squeeze into Comerica Park for a free Eminem concert.

All that was in the air was a whiff of hope -- the promise of help -- and that hope drew tens of thousands, so many people that 150 police officers arrived on the scene to contain people. There was jostling, minor injuries and the frenzy of a crowd excited about rumored promises that weren't going to be delivered.

What was just as predictable as Detroit's chaotic botched application process for Detroiters seeking access to federal stimulus dollars was the national and international response: Laughter.

<snip>

"Detroit's Model Citizens Line Up for Money from Obama's 'Stash' " is the way Rush Limbaugh's Web site headlined a story about the stampede for grant applications at Cobo. Two breathless days of commentary were devoted to the appalling greed of broke Detroiters. He also nationally aired WJR-AM's (760) onsite interview with a Detroit woman who explained she'd come to Cobo for "Obama money."

<snip>

Everyone's had their fun at the expense of an impoverished city and a woman whose enthusiasm eclipsed her common sense.

Still, would a white woman's need seem quite so funny? Would Rush and Glenn Beck and the far-right-race-supremacists lagging just behind still leap to insult?

I have had the same doctor for about 11 years. I don't know if he is really the best doctor I could have. In fact, sometimes, I thought he was probably too over-worked by the rat-bastard hospital system he worked for to even be a good doctor all of the time. But he was MY doctor. He got me through a lot of health issues. He talked me into losing 100 pounds (good idea, that one). And, he has been a comforting presence in my life.

So, why am I pissed? I got a letter in the mail telling me that the doctor isn't going to be practicing medicine anymore. He had some kind of spiritual epiphany and is going to work for the Jesuits doing... well... he doesn't really say. All I know is that now, without warning, I need to find another doctor. Great. This is all I need. It's not enough that I've been out of work for almost a year and am working at a job that will become part-time after a month or so. NOW, I need to find a new doctor.

I know, I know. I shouldn't be so selfish. I should be happy for him if he's found a new calling that satisfies him. Lord know that dealing with the hospital bureaucracy, PPOs, HMOs, etc. could not have been fun.

But, all I can think is: "That jerk had a mid-life crisis and now I need a new primary-care doctor. This sucks." I feel abandoned and let down.

I'll get over it. But for now, I am pissed.

One of my cousins posted this on Facebook, where it is making the rounds. Here was my response:

The existence of God cannot be proved or disproved through rhetoric or science. It would be silly for any teacher to say that God does not exist. I also like the idea that evil is, essentially, the absence of good and not a "thing" unto itself.

But... I still don't want school officials writing prayers and forcing kids to recite them as a group. I don't think schools serve kids by imposing the religious ideas of the teacher (or the school board) on the kids. What if the teacher is a Muslim and your kid is a Baptist?

Because religion is such a deeply personal thing, religious education belongs at home and at church. There is a lot school can do in terms of teaching ethics. But schools are not qualified to wade into issues like the divinity of Jesus or the meaning of the Book of Revelations.

Religion never left the schools. The only difference between now and the past is that kids now are expected to bring their religion to school with them, not pick it up in class.

If surveys and statistics are to be believed, the job market is beginning to show a pulse, which means some laid-off workers will need to adjust to the nine-to-five routine again.

The number of layoffs announced by major U.S. corporations dropped by 21 percent in August - below July levels and 14 percent below a year ago, according to the executive recruiter Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

A telephone survey by recruiter Robert Half International and online job site CareerBuilder, found more than half of the employers polled expected to hire full-time employees in the next 12 months.

For job seekers who have been out of work since the first throes of the recession, going back into the work force comes with a new set of challenges. Many will have to adjust to workplaces that have changed dramatically during the downturn.

My response to Kirk:

Dude, this is not cool. Your video starts from an argument built on lies. Do you think God wants you to deceive people in His name? If you don't think God and evolution are compatible, then your God is far more limited and small than the one I believe in. Sorry, pal, but our puny minds were never meant to wrap themselves around the true meaning and majesty of the Almighty. If you think you can gain a literal, simple-to-understand understanding of God by reading Genesis, you miss the point.

Bush: Getting crazier
This radio address shows, as much as anything, just how out of touch with reality he has become:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...800...

On the eve of the third anniversary of the Iraq invasion, President Bush today promised to "finish the mission" with total victory, urging the American public to remain steadfast but offering no indication when victory might be achieved.

"More fighting and sacrifice will be required," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "For some, the temptation to retreat and abandon our commitments is strong. Yet there is no peace, there's no honor and there's no security in retreat. So America will not abandon Iraq to the terrorists who want to attack us again."

Bush's address comes at a time when confidence in the administration's Iraq strategy appears to have reached all-time lows. A Washington Post-ABC News poll this month found that 65 percent of Americans surveyed thought Bush had no plan for victory, while 35 percent -- the lowest level ever recorded by the poll -- said he did.
