The HCR was an in your face to those who were asking for Medicare For All or a viable Public Option.
He's getting HIS HCR passed, without Progressive support.
He doesnt want us around.
Sure, he didnt complain when we donated to his campaign. He didnt complain when we were knocking on doors or phone banking for him. He didnt complain when he got elected from the fruits of our hard work.
But he and Rahm did start complaining when WE raised objections to: his continuation of the Patriot Act, his surge in another war, his continuation of another, and the apparent beginning of yet another, his continuation of DADT his failure to repeal DOMA his taxing of Union benefits and on and on and on
Now that we know our place in the Obama Administration, under the bus with the rest of the fucking retards, we will be sure to respond accordingly. In the lead up to November 2010 and 2012, please do not expect: Union Support Progressive Support Grassroots Movement GLBT Support
We will keep our money, time, and effort to ourselves. Good luck in November
Breaking: New Spam Filter on Congressional Inbox Cripples Progressive Movement.
(Washington DC: Feb 24, 2010)
Dealt a huge blow today from the makers of the new Fukitol Spam Filter, Progressive message boards and MoveOn were forced to close their "virtual" doors after the new spamfilter was installed on the email servers of Congress and the White House.
When reached for comment, Senator Harry Reid's office responded by saying "Are those the ads about the penis pills? We delete all of those anyway." Speaker of the House Pelosi's office responded by saying that the..." Speaker is excited to be getting her computer installed as soon as they find an internets." Email solicitations for response to the White House came back as a "flagged by user", so we assume that they have installed the new software already.
When the offices of MoveOn dot org were called, the operator said that his feet were too tingly from having just stood up and walked across the room for him to think about a comment at this time.
Mock me, but how do you know that any of the messages even get through.
Slacktivism: (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slacktivism ) I know, how very SLACKER of me Slacktivism (sometimes slactivism) is a portmanteau formed out of the words slacker and activism. The word is considered a pejorative term that describes "feel-good" measures, in support of an issue or social cause, that have little or no practical effect other than to make the person doing it feel satisfaction. The acts also tend to require little personal effort from the slacktivist.
Examples of activities labeled as "slacktivist" include signing internet petitions, the wearing of wristbands ("awareness bracelets") with political messages, putting a ribbon magnet on a vehicle, joining a Facebook group, posting issue-oriented YouTube videos, altering one's personal data or avatar on social network services, or taking part in short-term boycotts such as Buy Nothing Day or Earth Hour.
How many petitions to end the war have you signed? How's that going for ya? Did you sign Dennis Kucinich's petition to Impeach Bush? How'd that end for us? There is even a website http://www.rallycongress.com/signup/browse / with 622 PAGES of petitions to Congress for you to sign on to. Included on the first page of the website are such gems as "Tell Congress to protect the Pledge of Allegiance", Tell Congress to support Judges who respect the Constitution. Senate Resolution to Honor the Monuments Men Revoke Peta's Tax-exempt Status U.S. citizens for stopping illegal immigration Tell Congress To Support The Safe Climate Act Tell Congress To Support The Fuel Economy Reform Act Amend or End HR 811 " Mr. President, U. S. Senators & U. S. Representatives, Show Us You Stand For Liberty, For Democracy And For Human Rights In Ethiopia!!! " SHOW US!!! Tell The Senate To Support The Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act Introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders, this is an important first step in reducing carbon emissions in the US Tell The Senate To Support Strong Renewable Electricity Standard End Chinese Communist Party Torture And Murder Of Falun Gong Practitioners
This does not and will not accomplish anything except make the petition signer FEEL like they DID something without even having to leave the comfort of your computer. So I guess the real question is do you feel better? And, no, I'm not going to organize a movement, or have you sign a petition to do something, I am going to try to get myself and my family ready for the day, coming soon, when we'll wish we had paid attention to our grandparent's stories about how they survived during the Great Depression. I'm reading The Urban Homesteader, trying to save for a few acres out in the country, building a chicken coup, and practicing growing a few crops. Flame on
His neighbors say that they knew that he was under surveillance because they parked the SV's (surveillance vehicles) in front of their houses on numerous occasions.
His was a classic "suicide op" in which the subject is surveilled OVERTLY. He is harassed until it drives him crazy. He is threatened with jail and prosecution like the Sword of Damacles was hanging over his head. He is "reminded" that if he goes to jail (and/or is executed) that his family will not receive any of his pension, insurance, retirement..... While his suicide probably voided any private insurance, his family will still not get benefits from the government.
Agents had reached his therapist and were getting the evidence to discredit his name and any defense that he might wage against the charges he was being threatened with. He was also being prepped for discreditation in the event that he turned "whistle blower".
His "suicide" was an excellent Operation by those who either were responsible for the original anthrax or who wanted to make the story go away by putting the blame on him.
Questions:
If Bruce Ivins was the main suspect, why hadn’t we heard anything about the Anthrax case in nearly seven years? Why was Steven Hatfield able to successfully sue the US Government for harassment and violation of his civil liberties just a couple of months ago? Did the government lean on Ivins just as they leaned on Hatfield, but Hatfield was able to get out from under the pressure by putting the pressure back on the government?
fwiw, I used to work in the "discrediting" field many years ago and have seen this done a few times, and this appears to have followed the SOP (standard operating procedure).
No autopsy huh, oh well I guess the case is closed and ready to be sent down the memory hole.
by means of the club, the whip, the power of fear.
Ed Abbey said this and I believe that this shows the key difference between our two candidates. Do we want a leader to tries to lead by example or a ruler who uses the whip and the power of fear? A moving speech on the audacity of hope and the power of change and inspiration or another 4 years of "3AM phone call" ads? Hasnt bush already ruled us through fear?
Do we want to be led out of a very dark time of wars, pending economic disaster, and global climate change or do we want to be ruled by more fear of more wars, further economic calamity, and greater global disaster?
If we cannot afford to pay our credit card bill, the credit industry suffers. If we cannot afford to pay our mortgage, the housing industry suffers. If we cannot afford to buy a new car, the auto industry suffers. If we cannot afford to pay our cable bill, the telecom industry suffers. If we cannot afford to take a trip, the transportation industry suffers.
When the MIDDLE CLASS suffers, the world's markets suffer. When we lose our jobs, we stop paying our bills and also stop fueling the world's economy. So, why do we want to give huge tax breaks to corporations and the rich?
Do they pay our credit card bills? Do they pay our mortgages? Do they buy new cars? Do they pay the cable bills? Do they go to Disney World
All of the trouble in the world markets, along with the fact that the current Presidential campaign has been going since the day after GWB was sworn in for a second term, tells me that NEO_CONSERVATISM_DOESNT_WORK!!! (ie Voodoo Economics and Trickle Down...)
Today we heard the beginnings of some whispers that some locally stationed troops have been recently killed. There is no word on who, where, or how many because the word takes a few days to reach the news and the parents. Members of the 3rd Infantry Mechanized have been shipping out of here on a regular basis and the latest buzz is that the tours might be extended beyond the 15 month mark to possibly 18 sometime after Christmas.
Every day that we wait, that we talk, that we sit, another troop dies and another family is crushed. More than 3400 families have been crushed because of our illegitmate regime to date.
I have been reading Thoreau's On The Duty of Civil Disobedience again and it's gonna get me in trouble. When I sit here and allow the government to do whatever it does, I am silently giving my approval for this war and everything that they do. I am finding it harder and harder to sit here day after day and watch what this government does and continue to support it with my taxes that buy the bullets and the bombs that kill and with my silence that gives it time to kill and conduct an immoral occupation. I shake in anger and in tears and I am coming closer and closer to acting on my fantasies of withdrawing my support for this country by either taking myself out of this country or doing something more severe that would surely get my face on CNN. I am not threatening violence, far from it. I can accomplish no goal through violence. I do see however how the monks who set themself on fire are able to remain perfectly still as they committ the ultimate protest.
During the blizzard in New York State this past winter, people said "global warming HA, I wish" Will these same numb nuts admit that global warming (global climate change, as I prefer) is happening now that it is officially as hot as hell down here. In South Georgia, many places hit 90 today. Due to a nasty drought, we also have a huge forest fire that has destroyed 82K acres and growing. We have not had "measurable rain" in I can't remember how long. We also are not supposed to be watering our house except on certain days for even numbered houses and the others house numbers on the other days. The drainage pond near my place is the lowest that I can remember as well.
Also, what should I do to the people who run their sprinklers for hours on end to water their sad lawns? My dad just planted a bunch of stuff and commented that he needs to run his sprinklers for the next few days. When it comes to water rationing, no one here pays attention. Either that or they choose to ignore the laws that are meant "for everybody else but me". And yes, my car is dirty because I cannot/will not wash it while water remains in such tight supply and high demand.
Call Australia and ask them how their water supply is doing.
We need to shift away from green grass lawns and begin to focus on vegetation (or decoration) that thrives in little/no water. If my front yard bushes die, I will replace them with sand and a rock garden.
