Thousands march through the streets of Oakland as part of the Occupy Oakland general strike and day of action. One crowd was gathered outside Chase Bank when another group joined them. They shut down the bank and then headed to nearby Wells Fargo and Bank of America. This was taken from the roof of the California Nurses Association building. The nurses support Occupy Oakland with a first aid station at the camp.

A just-published bombshell article in the November issue of Bloomberg Markets magazine implicates Koch Industries, the company controlled by Republican mega-donors Charles and David Koch, in dozens of criminal acts around the globe over the past three decades.

According the report, company officials have been caught paying bribes to win contracts, trading with Iran in violation of the U.S. embargo, price-fixing, neglecting safety and ignoring environmental regulations.

The billionaire brothers are major donors to FreedomWorks, the Cato Institute, and dozens of other conservative think-tanks and nonprofits. They have also been tied to several independent expenditure groups supporting Republican candidates across the country — and last year The New Yorker exposed the family's efforts to oppose President Barack Obama.

Wisconsin Democrats on Wednesday submitted Open Records requests to Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen’s office, following news reports that Van Hollen had refused help to a growing corruption probe of Walker.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that, while Van Hollen had offered resources in the prosecution of Milwaukee Ald. Michael McGee, it refused to assist in the growing secret investigation of former and current aides to Gov. Scott Walker. The request for assistance was made by Milwaukee County D.A. Chisholm in November of 2010.

“J.B. Van Hollen has been close to Scott Walker and committed to operating the Department of Justice as an adjunct to Walker’s radical Tea Party agenda,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Wednesday. “That Wisconsin’s Tea Party top cop refused help to prosecutors in a corruption probe of Wisconsin’s Tea Party government should concern every citizen, regardless of party. Justice should be blind, regardless of whether one is a cheerleader for the Koch Brothers agenda or not.”

If you count Tom Nardelli, she is the fourth Walker ally and appointee with ties to the investigation. As has been the case from the beginning, she joins the long list of people who claim to “know nothing,” – including Scott Walker. Someone knows something, and they are talking as the John Doe investigation rolls on. It may be weeks (or months) before all the details are known; but the information available already connects key players with a commonality of purpose. That purpose is shared by Governor Scott Walker himself, and could likely bring the investigation directly to the Governor’s Office. Darlene Wink was just the tip of the iceberg, as her emails likely led investigators to the major players in the investigation. Unable to afford the ticket price Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has imposed on his constituents if they want to talk to him, unemployed people in his district have been staging a sit in at his district office. It was a good idea—how could he avoid talking to them if they were right there?

By calling the cops on them, of course.

Staffers for Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) called police on Thursday evening to disperse unemployed protesters staging a sit-in at his Kenosha, Wis., office, according to the protesters and police.

Two protesters told HuffPost they're unhappy with Ryan's proposals to gut social programs and also his new policy of not holding free public meetings with constituents during the congressional recess.<...>
