The President advocated for UNITY when he stated “Each time I look at that flag, I’m reminded that our destiny is stitched together like those fifty stars and those thirteen stripes. No one built this country on their own. This Nation is great because we built it together. This Nation is great because we worked as a team. This Nation is great because we get each other’s backs. And if we hold fast to that truth, in this moment of trial, there is no challenge too great; no mission too hard. As long as we’re joined in common purpose, as long as we maintain our common resolve, our journey moves forward, our future is hopeful, and the state of our Union will always be strong. “ TEA PARTIED RIGHT WINGERS spun that statement with THEIR illiterate interpretation that “ All Obama wants to do is divide the country with envy”!

The President presented actions he initiated to advance the ECONOMY and JOB creation by stating: “Thanks to the tax cuts we passed, Americans’ paychecks are a little bigger today. Every business can write off the full cost of new investments that they make this year.” So, over the last two years, we’ve begun rebuilding for the 21st century, a project that has meant thousands of good jobs for the hard-hit construction industry” “These steps will grow the economy and add to the more than one million private sector jobs created last year.” The TEA PARTIED RIGHT WING spun those statements with THEIR illiterate interpretation that “The President has done NOTHING to create jobs or improve the economy”!

The President advocated for BRINGING OUTSOURCED JOBS BACK HOME with the following statements: “We should start with our tax code. Right now, companies get tax breaks for moving jobs and profits overseas. Meanwhile, companies that choose to stay in America get hit with one of the highest tax rates in the world. It makes no sense, and everyone knows it.” “If you’re a business that wants to outsource jobs, you shouldn’t get a tax deduction for doing it. That money should be used to cover moving expenses for companies like Master Lock that decide to bring jobs home.” “My message is simple. It’s time to stop rewarding businesses that ship jobs overseas, and start rewarding companies that create jobs right here in America.” The TEA PARTIED RIGHT WING spun those statements with THEIR illiterate interpretation that the President “wants to punish job creators”!

The President defended HEALTH CARE REFORM by stating: “What I’m not willing to do is go back to the days when insurance companies could deny someone coverage because of a preexisting condition. “ “I’m not willing to tell James Howard, a brain cancer patient from Texas, that his treatment might not be covered. I’m not willing to tell Jim Houser, a small business man from Oregon, that he has to go back to paying $5,000 more to cover his employees. As we speak, this law is making prescription drugs cheaper for seniors and giving uninsured students a chance to stay on their patients coverage.” The TEA PARTIED RIGHT WING spun those statements with THEIR illiterate interpretation that “Health Care Reform is one of the most destructive legislations in history and needs to be repealed”!

The President advocated for FAIRNESS with the statements: “And if we truly care about our deficit, we simply can’t afford a permanent extension of the tax cuts for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans. Before we take money away from our schools or scholarships away from our students, we should ask millionaires to give up their tax break. It’s not a matter of punishing their success. It’s about promoting America’s success.” “Let’s never forget, millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules every day deserve a Government and a financial system that do the same. It’s time to apply the same rules from top to bottom. No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. An America built to last insists on responsibility for everybody.” The TEA PARTIED RIGHT WING spun those statements with THEIR illiterate interpretation that “Obama is a food stamp President running on policies of division, class warfare and envy that are almost unAmerican”!

The President covered many more issues involving ACTIONS HE HAS TAKEN to lead in the protection of consumers; providing assistance for home owners with mortgage challenges; lowering tax rates for the middle class; promoting advancements in technology; extending educational opportunities for college students; weakening Al Qaeda and the Taliban movements; advancing national security and border control, and advancing international alliances that strengthen US manufacturing industries. He, also, URGED CONGRESS TO WORK WITH HIM TO PASS LEGISLATION aimed at furthering job creation through innovative technology and corporate tax reforms; extending educational and job opportunities for veterans; investing in all levels of education; providing for more efficient government productivity and spending ; reigning in the legislative control of lobbyists and corporate special interests; maintaining Social Security and Medicare with streamlined efficiency, and furthering the overall social, economic and international stability of our nation and its citizens.

Yesterday Wisconsin Trailblazers submitted a historical ONE MILLION signatures to recall Governor Walker with nearly TWICE the 540,208 signatures required for submission. IN ADDITION to the Walker recall signatures, Wisconsin trailblazers, submitted 845,000 signatures to force the recall of Republican Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch along with petitions to recall FOUR Republican anti-American workers’ rights senators Terry Moulton, Pam Galloway, Van Wangaard and Senate Majority Leader, Scott Fitzgerald. Close to TWO MILLION signatures were submitted in total. The Nation reported that “no other gubernatorial recall drive in American history has gathered the signatures of so large a proportion of the electorate.”

MICHIGAN voters are pounding the pavement gathering signatures to recall Tea Partied Governor Rick Synder and his Tea Partied lawmakers’ “MARTIAL LAW” bill enabling the governor to appoint “emergency managers’. CBSnews.com reports that the bill “takes every decision in a city or school district and puts it in the hands of the manager, from when the streets get plowed to who plows them and how much they are paid”. U.S. Representative John Conyers, a Democrat who represents Detroit, said that “in a given city, the governor’s new “financial czar” could “force a municipality into bankruptcy, a power that will surely be used to extract further concessions from hardworking public sector workers”. CBSnews.com, also, reports that emergency managers will have the power “to null and void a contract”. The Detroit Free Press revealed that the emergency manager would have the unilateral power to “cut spending on schools, universities, prisons and communities.” Emergency managers can, actually, shut down schools , municipal offices, communities and unions at will. To add insult to injury, Governor Synder has, already REPLACED ELECTED government officials with HIS appointed emergency managers!

GOP elected officials’, Right Wing cable television news network and radio talk show political pundits’ talking point that there is a “voter fraud epidemic” IS A FRAUD . The “epidemic” fallacy is calculated to SUPPRESS the voting rights of Latinos, Blacks, Native Americans, college students, the elderly, minorities and the poor.

An article by the New York Times reported that “five years after the Bush administration began a crackdown on voter fraud, the Justice Department has TURNED UP VIRTUALLY NO EVIDENCE of any organized effort to skew federal elections, according to court records and interviews”. The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law’s investigation of voter fraud allegations nationally (by Republicans) found that “states like Missouri have overall voter fraud rates of 0.0003% in 2000, 0.0001% in 2004, 0.0006% in New Hampshire in 2004, 0.0004% in New Jersey in 2004, 0.000009% in New York in 2004. Salon.com reported the Loro Minnite, a professor of political science at Barnard College, who has spent the last 8 years studying the role of fraud in U.S. Elections, found that the “REPUBLICAN CRUSADE AGAINST VOTER FRAUD IS A STRATEGIC RUSE”. Minnie further found that “rather than protecting the election process from voter fraud – a problem that BARELY exists – the TRUE AIM of Republican efforts appears to be VOTER SUPPRESSION across the partisan divide.”

Salon.com, also, reported that on September 10, 240,000 Wisconsin voters WHO HAD REGISTERED BY MAIL SINCE 2006 found their voting status up in the air as the state’s attorney general J.B. Van Hollen – a McCain campaign co-chair – sued the state’s Government Accountability Board. In Michigan that same week, Macomb County GOP Party chairman James Caragbelli, allegedly told a reporter the he would use publicly available lists of foreclosed home addresses to “make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses.” In October, the Montana Republican Party challenged the eligibility of 6,000 voters in UNIVERSITY towns and heavily NATIVE AMERICAN counties. The Brennan Center for Justice reported that In Missouri in 2000, the Secretary of State claimed that 79 voters were registered with addresses at vacant lots, but subsequent investigation revealed that the lots in question ACTUALLY HOUSED VALID and LEGTIMATE residences. In a 1995 investigation into votes allegedly cast in Baltimore by deceased voters and those with disenfranchising felony convictions revealed that the voters in question were BOTH ALIVE AND FELONY-FREE. A 2005 attempt to identify SUPPOSED double voters in New Jersey MISTAKENLY ACCUSED people with similar names but whose middle names or suffixes were CLEARLY different. The Brennan Center investigation found that “other allegations of fraudulent voting often turn out to be the result of common clerical errors, incomplete information, or faulty assumptions. MOST ALLEGATIONS of voter fraud simply evaporate when more rigorous analysis is conducted.”

Voter suppression is a MAJOR threat to the basic tenants of our democracy. Why aren’t major cable news networks other than MSNBC conducting FAIR AND BALANCED, prime time exposes on this issue? FOX News covers it, but I’ve only heard the “voter fraud is an epidemic” side of their story!

Happy Birthday Martin!

Mitt Romney is milking the airways with his dishonest AND misinformed take that the President is “a leader (who) divides us with the bitter politics of envy”. Mixing the term “envy” with the President’s fight for “fairness” is like mixing apples and oranges. Romney needs to stop using the President as a scapegoat for his WEAK DEFENSE against attacks by HIS fellow Republican presidential candidates regarding his less than honest Bain claims. Let’s talk about those claims…



The Washington Post reported that during his time at Bain, Romney pursued two different kinds of investments – venture capital and private equity. Venture-capital investments involve investing money in fledgling start-ups, typically through obtaining a minority stake. Romney’s campaign trail claims regarding Bain’s $5 million investment sunk into Staples in the 1980’s - which made Bain $13 million by the way - are, currently, ONLY A FRACTION of Bain’s portfolio.



Romney’s claim of creating “more jobs at Bain than the President” is MATHMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. The December Jobs Report states that the 1.9 million private sector jobs were created as a result of President Obama’s economic stimulus. According to Romney, he “created 100,000 jobs” for the Staples and Sports Authority while FAILING TO DISCLOSE that 94,000 of those jobs are those that Staples and Sports Authority ALONE have created to date. How can Romney even begin to compare his 6,000 job creations to the President’s 1.9 million job creations with a straight face?


Let’s talk about Romney’s private equity time at Bain Capital. Private-equity investments involve pursuing corporate buyouts; helping reorganize them, then selling them off a few years later. That’s where Romney made his biggest PERSONAL gains during the Bain years. Ten of those private-equity deals produced 70 percent of dollar gains for Bain between 1984 until 1999 – about $1.75 BILLION in total according to the Wall Street Journal. Romney’s Bain-related private-equity deals resulted in some of the MOST high-profile BANKRUPTCIES AND JOB LOSSES in private-equity investment history. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Four of the 10 companies that made Bain the most money under Romney WENT BANKRUPT” while Bain Capital AND Romney made off like fat cats.


Instead of mixing “fairness” with “envy”, Romney needs to join the President AND the Responsible Wealth Network comprised of over 700 business leaders and wealthy individuals in the top five percent of income and/or wealth in the U.S. who “advocate for FAIR TAXES AND CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITY”.


The “envy” card makes Romney look envious of having created over 1 million FEWER jobs than the President!

The December, 2011 Jobs Report showed that 200,000 new jobs were created in the month, and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.5%, the lowest rate since February, 2009. The Report, also, shows a total of 1.9 million private sector jobs created in 2011; the 20th month of CONSTANT private sector job growth since the passage of the President’s economic stimulus initiative; the FIRST growth in manufacturing jobs since 1997, and gains in Health Care recovery adding 315,000 jobs last year.

Considering the STEADY CORPORATE DEREGULATED LOSS of 750,000 jobs per month BEFORE President Obama came into office, it appears that the “economic stimulus created zero jobs” statement AND the “Obamacare is a job killer” statement made by 2012 Republican presidential candidates, Tea Partied Congressional representatives, Right Wing cable news network and anti-Obama talk radio pundits are NOT true.

Imagine the possibilities for public sector teaching, fire service, law enforcement and sanitation worker jobs if WE could convince Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives to PASS THE PRESIDENT’S JOBS BILL!

Despite the fact that REPUBLICAN Presidents exercised their CONSTITUTIONAL Recess Appointment Powers far more times than President Obama, Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives are blistering over the President’s recess appointment of a Consumer Financial Protection Agency Director to oversee that consumers are no longer railroaded by predatory debt collectors, private student loan providers and payday loan providers.

Instead of caring about protecting consumers, Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives are claiming that FAKE Congressional BLOCKAGE sessions where a handful of them go to their Congressional Chamber for 5 minutes to stare at the walls then leave means that they are not in recess.

It pains me to admit that I understand THEIR confusion over the matter since what they do in their FAKE Congressional sessions is exactly what they do in their REAL Congressional sessions – NOTHING!

During the Christmas recess, the President was able to exercise his LEGAL Recess Appointment Powers naming Richard Cordray as the Director of HIS Consumer Financial Protection Bureau along with three FEDERALLY REQUIRED replacement members for the National Labor Relations Board and DARED the Tea Partied Republican Block Party to stop the process.

Despite the fact that NUMEROUS Tea Partied Republican Senators, INCLUDING Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, stated that Cordray was a “qualified individual with a good reputation”, Mitch AND Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney DISAGREE with the President’s actions to PROTECT consumers from predatory lenders and debt collection agencies. Mitch said that the President “circumvented the American people.” Romney said that the Consumer Protection Agency was the “worst bureaucratic agency in history.” The “American people” DISAGREE with Mitch and Mitt - 63% of “American people” polled stated that they want financial oversight of lending institutions and debt collection agencies.

Throughout his term in office the President submitted a number of nominees for CRITICAL positions. The Director of Homeland Security nominee was blocked for OVER a year, and numerous federal judgeships REMAIN in limbo because Tea Partied Republican Congressional members refuse to bring the nominations to a vote. Whenever there was a recess, Tea Partied Republican Congressional members, ALSO, blocked the President’s Recess Appointment Powers by holding FAKE Congressional sessions where a handful of Tea Partied representatives sat in their Congressional Chamber seats for about 5 minutes, presented NOTHING, voted on NOTHING then left the building.

If Recess Appointments are the ONLY measure the President has at his disposal to move HIS agenda to protect and assist the “American people” from the DO NOTHING Tea Partied Republican Block Party – so be it!

GOP Presidential candidates are so focused on throwing facts to the wind to win the hearts of the racist base of their base that they are, SHAMELESSLY, stating race-based CODED references of “poverty”, “welfare” and “civil rights” that are an INSULT to Americans of ALL races.

Rick Santorum said he “didn’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them money” in reference to food stamp and welfare programs. Santorum doesn’t even know that thanks to HIS Party’s UNFUNDED tax cuts for the wealthy and tax breaks for big corporations, there are more white individuals (38.8%) on welfare and more white individuals (34%) on food stamps than “black people”.

Mitt Romney took a few seconds from daydreaming about Marie Antoinette and belittling tax cuts for the middle class, in order to recycle a Ku Klux Klan slogan stating that he wanted to “keep America American.”

Ron Paul stated that he “wouldn’t have voted for the Civil Rights Bill” and that the Civil Rights Act is “more destructive than helpful”. If Ron Paul knew ANYTHING about the Civil Rights Act, he would know that the act doesn’t only pertain to race, it, also, prohibits discrimination on employment based on gender, religious, ethnic and national origin considerations.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that that “9.6 million households can be described as low-income or “WORKING poor”. It also reports that “adults in low-income working families worked on average 2,552 hours per year, the equivalent of almost ONE AND A QUARTER full time workers”.

Michele Bachman doesn’t even know that the “founding fathers” were slave owners. So, I’m not going to waste your time discussing her racist base of the base appeal!

Even though times may be tough, you can give TWICE as much this holiday season without spending a dime and you can lift your spirits and improve your health at the same time. Studies have shown that helping others in need can improve your emotional well-being, relieve stress, strengthen your immune system, decrease the intensity and awareness of physical pain, and produce a rush of euphoria, followed by a longer period of calm called a “helper’s high”.

So, visit a nursing home, a children’s ward in a hospital, a veteran’s hospital, a neighbor in need, a Humane Society. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, a homeless shelter, or a Salvation Army Christmas dinner for the needy. Use coupons for free food items and donate them to charity. Donate that tight outfit that you THINK you’ll be able to fit in next year (or the year after) to a charitable flea market. Give a PRICELESS gift by promising to stop an annoying habit that irritates a loved one, a friend or an enemy. Pick your socks off the floor, or take out the garbage.
