And I won't really be missed around here. And I don't really care.

Actually, I think I'm done with all discussion groups and comment sections and forums. It amazes me how utterly heartless and rude people can be on here, as well as just about every other online discussion; even when you try to agree. Even when you don't have to TRY to agree.

Somebody will find something in your statement to take issue with, and then 10 other people will jump on the bandwagon. And you end up wanting to change our opinion just because you were attacked.

Since I'm leaving, I don't mind saying this. I read a thread today in which someone whose mother chose adoption over abortion was vehemently attacked by pro-choice advocates, despite being pro-choice himself. He was told it wouldn't have mattered had he been aborted, because he wouldn't have known.

I was hoping to see someone come to his defense as I read. I was wrong. That didn't happen.

Granted, the issue of abortion is always going to be a highly contentious issue, even when people agree on it apparently, but this low level of discourse, this disregard for anyone else's opinion isn't relegated to high controversy issues. It happens with everything... on every type of forum/group out there. And it's sad.

It's sad that people can be so thoughtless with their remarks. Of course, since there are no repercussions what do you expect. You can go on anywhere and say what you want without remorse because who the hell is going to know it was "you" saying it?

Well, I've had my share. I've had my fill, and I do not want another helping.

You can all have at it.

Oh, and make sure to check for typos. If all else fails, you can rip me apart for that.

I'm arguing with a freeper and I need to know. I figured they got it off Fox News, but I don't know.

I thought it was a relatively safe place. I go there often to work and have never had any issues with anyone.

Then they sat down; three young ladies, probably a few years younger than myself. They were speaking about the bible. One of them was a minister of sorts and the other two were studying.

Normally I have my earbuds in, but today I forgot them.

They began talking about this and that in the bible. I was pretty much ignoring them.

After a few minutes the discussion turned to Homosexuality and how the bible looked at it.

My ears perked up.

I was expecting to hear them say how the bible was wrong. Instead, the three of them began talking about how the bible was right about that, but wrong about African Americans and Women because... well... that was where they lost me. They were trying to find a rationalization to explain how the bible could be right in being bigoted against gays, but it was totally unacceptable for women and African Americans.

I sat there getting more and more furious.

They moved onto another topic. I didn't care. Normally, I would have gone off on them. Normally, I would have interrupted and listed off at least 10 different examples of bull shit arguments in the bible and how they were truly ignorant for believing that it is anything more than a bunch of stories. It is not to be taken literal.

Ordinarily I would have done just that.

But for some reason... today... I just didn't have it in me.

Today, more than anything, more than it angered me, today it just hurt too much.

That's right. About a year ago my mother's husband, a police officer in Michigan, was paying $75 a month for health insurance for the family.

Last summer it jumped to $150 a month, their copays and prescriptions all doubled too. It made it a bit more difficult to make ends meet... but nothing too strenuous.

Now... it's going up to $350 a month.

Their house has lost some 150K in value.

My mother got caught by a changing due date on her credit card and was a day late and saw the interest jump from 8% to 29% just days before the new laws took affect.

Now, they are trying to see if they are going to have to file for bankruptcy.

And we have republicans playing politics; playing politics with peoples' well beings.

Disgusting.

Dear President Obama,

Although I know you probably won't read this letter, I would like to take a moment out of my day to thank you for all the hard work you have done for this country since we elected you. While I cannot say I agree with all of your decisions, I will say I believe you have put in countless hours and thoughtful consideration into everything you have done; which is much more than anyone could say about your predecessor.

We elected you to bring about change in this country; change we desperately needed. And while you cannot do it all yourself, or do it all as fast as it is needed, you are clearly doing everything in your power to restore this country to what it was supposed to be. I, like millions of other applaud you for that and are very appreciative of your efforts.

As those in the Reich Wing try to take you down and try to derail all of your efforts, and as the media tries to paint you as something you are not while they ignore your many many achievements, please know that those of us who voted for you see everything you are doing.

We know the road it long and the journey will not be easy, but if you continue to work to make the much needed improvements this country needs, know that we stand by your efforts and will fight with you to restore the United States of America to the envy of the world as the Land of the Free and The Home of the Brave.

Sincerely,

A Proud Citizen
