Sun Nov 07th 2010, 10:12 AM After listening to Repub after Repub defending the Bush tax cuts, I'm frustrated and angry. Why hasn't someone laid it out in simple terms, stating the reasons the tax cuts were given:
Because the Wealthy need more money to buy more "luxury" high ticket items that would stimulate the economy. Because the Wealthy were the ones who were creating jobs for us non-wealthy peons. Neither of those have happened. They didn't hold up their end of the bargain. They lost their chance. Continuing them just makes us stupid. Something about the man who is "in charge" of such a miracle as bringing a new baby into the world, mixed with the hormones. Well, I'd like to name this guy the SEXIEST MAN ALIVE today: ![]() Posted by RazBerryBeret in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)
Sun Nov 02nd 2008, 07:48 PM I live in Ohio, the family went out of town today to visit my in-laws. While we were out we got 4 messages. 2 from the Republican campaign---one that used Hillary saying that Obama isn't ready and one that "warned" me about Obama's economic plans. 2 were from the Obama campaign, one to remind me that tuesday is the election, pretty generic, the second was from Michelle Obama telling me how important this election is, how America needs a change and ended with a message of the address of my polling place--very informative. I was struck (again) by how negative one campaign is and how "helpful and positive" the other one is. Neither of Obama's messages even mentioned McCain while the Republicans only message was to scare me into not voting for Obama.
Interesting. and someone stole my Obama yard sign while I was gone. Posted by RazBerryBeret in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)
Sun Oct 26th 2008, 11:57 AM John McCain on MTP today:
He also dismissed criticism about the Republican Party spending $150,000 on her wardrobe at high-end retailers. "She lives a frugal life, she and her family are not wealthy, she and her family were thrust into this," McCain said. "She is a role model to millions and millions of Americans." This from Time Magazine: Sarah Palin and her husband have pieced together a uniquely Alaskan income that reached comfortably into six figures even before she became governor, capitalizing on valuable fishing rights, a series of land deals and a patchwork of other ventures to build an above-average lifestyle. Add up the couple's 2007 income and the estimated value of their property and investments and they appear to be worth at least $1.2 million. That would make the Palins, like Democratic vice presidential rival Joe Biden and his wife Jill, well-off but not nearly as wealthy as multimillionaire couples John and Cindy McCain and, to a lesser extent, Barack and Michelle Obama. One measure of financial health: While there is a home loan, Palin reported no personal credit card debt on her most recent financial report as Alaska governor. That compares to average household credit card debt among Americans of $9,840 last year. Ok...so assets over a million bucks and no credit card debt? John McCain calls this NOT WEALTHY??? what a crock!! Maybe she has no credit card debt because she can get the RNC to give her $150,000 for clothing, makeup and hair?? or better yet, since she has no credit card debt, why couldn't she go out and charge a few suits? Isn't that what we would have to do? And they can get away with calling Obama an elitist? then try to align themselves with the common folks??? ![]() http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/26/m... http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/... Tue Oct 21st 2008, 06:29 AM Here in central Ohio we had another company let most of their people go yesterday. It was a family business, been here for decades. Value City Department Stores if you've heard of it--locations mostly in the NE US. I worked there in the marketing department for two years. I quit almost exactly a year ago to freelance for another corporation. I quit mostly because of the stress of lay offs every 6 months, the rumors, no feeling of security.
The entire marketing department except for 1 person was let go. that's about 12 of my friends, all great people with families, houses, cars. Some of those people had been there for 14 years. They were all let go with no severance, paid through the end of the day and insurance only till the end of the month. The suckiest part (IMO), the CEO was given notice about 3 months ago that he was fired effective in January 09. He OF COURSE got a severance package, he will be paid his 1 million dollar a year salary for 18 months and he will have his health insurance for 18 months. Sign of the times? I feel so bad for all my friends, at this time of the year.... Posted by RazBerryBeret in General Discussion (1/22-2007 thru 12/14/2010)

Thu Oct 16th 2008, 09:12 PM I was hoping Obama could turn this statement around, McCain has used it in each of the debates, last night:
MCCAIN: "The fact is that businesses in America today are paying the second highest tax rate of anywhere in the world. Our tax rate for business in America is 35 percent. Ireland, it's 11 percent. Where are companies going to go where they can create jobs and where they can do best in business? We need to cut the business tax rate in America. We need to encourage business." Obama could turn it around and say that if they are American Companies, they should do business in America. Going overseas so they can make more money is indicative of the corporate greed that has caused our economy to falter. That is not very Patriotic. I think Americans are ready for a message like that, remember when WalMart was all "made in America" and it was a big deal? Posted by RazBerryBeret in General Discussion (1/22-2007 thru 12/14/2010)
Mon Oct 13th 2008, 08:17 PM In my previous job, last year, I was an Art Director for a small Department Store. The majority of my work was for the circulars in the Sunday Papers. We used models from all the major cities. One of my very favorites was a male model named Roman. He is the nicest man in the world, and really good looking. I told him last fall he looked a lot like Barack Obama. He said he'd heard that before. I teased him that he was eventually gonna have a hard time walking through airports.
I saw him on the cover of a Seattle fashion magazine where they were doing a spoof of the Presidential candidates in Armani. He was, of course Barack. I just ran across this video on YouTube He's playing the part of Barack to Tyra Banks playing Michelle. See what you think, my hubby says Roman looks nothing like Obama...I happen to think Roman is better looking, but less Presidential, of course... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etrJ71ZRoyY I have a feeling Roman is going to be very busy for the next 4 years!!!! Sun Oct 12th 2008, 09:20 AM A minister delivering the invocation at John McCain’s rally in Davenport, Iowa Saturday told the crowd non-Christian religions around the world were praying for Barack Obama to win the U.S. presidential election.
“There are millions of people around this world praying to their god—whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah—that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens,” said Arnold Conrad, the former pastor of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Davenport. Here are some other quotes by this "man of god"... http://www.daylife.com/words/Arnold_Conrad Here is his email address, I'm sending him an email right now: aconrad105@mchsi.com Posted by RazBerryBeret in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)

Fri Sep 26th 2008, 07:00 PM what would you ask?
I saw this Q on the CNN site and I knew right away what I would ask. Stemming from a growing concern of mine -- since I live in Ohio. I would ask Obama: If, on election day, the exit polls had you winning by close to a 10% margin, but when the actual results came in you lost by 5%; what would you do? Would you concede, would you investigate, do you have a team ready to handle this situation? What would YOU ask? Posted by RazBerryBeret in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)
