There were a few dozen people on opening night in one of only 4 theaters in which it was playing in the entire state of NY. We had someone get there VERY early because we were concerned we wouldn't be able to get a seat. I sat with muscles clenched, wringing my hands for two hours and tears streamed down my cheeks at the end. It was a powerful and incredible movie about an amazing group of students - the White Rose. I haven't been able to shake the impact and don't really care to. But I am still so sad about how poor a turn-out I saw. I know subtitled foreign films are not wildly popular - but I really thought that given the state of the world - that by sheer word-of-mouth - there should have been crowds.

To locate one of the limited engagement theaters where it is playing now see: http://www.sophieschollmovie.com /

Find a theater and take friends. 6 of us went and we sat and talked for hours afterward at a late night dinner where no one had much appetite.
