the Packers management hired one of King George 2nd's court jesters named Fleischer for a little "professional development".

let's see - authoritarian leadership team needs to get talking points to the media to keep the masses in the dark...

sounds familiar

Started out thinking Favre should give it up because he did retire...

As the days passed, I lost faith in the Packers management, both Murphy and Thompson in particular. He has a huge ego and is too damn stubborn. Thompson looked very nervous that Favre would show up at Lambeau at family night.

Seems to me that Favre was pressured to retire early and played along w/ tears and all - but (obviously) didn't want to quit the game. Thinking with one's head over one's heart kind of thing.

4 questions.

1. Why the loyalty to Rodgers? He hasn't proven a damn thing.

2. If I told you a year ago that the Packers didn't want Favre as their starting QB and they would offer him $20 mil not to play - what would you think?

3. Why wouldn't a sports team want to give the starting job to the best athlete if they earn it?

4. Has there ever been another NFL team that refused to let their starting QB back on the team the season after the team made it to a championship game?

Almost too pissed to show up @ Lambeau for pre-season in protest.

As quoted in the local rag:

"I worked hard, I was poor once, I got a job, I managed to pay my bills, I screwed up my credit, I fixed it all by myself - without a government handout...I went to college, I got student loans, I paid them off, all by myself - all without a government handout."

>> ahem, Ms. McKenna - the federal student financial aid program is, in fact, a government program, and your student loans were subsidized by me, you, and everybody reading this.

"I started out as someone who called myself a Marxist...I drank espresso. I smoked dark, cold cigarettes. I was fully steeped in the whole sort of whole idiot college, Che Guevara revolution communist sort of way of thinking - and then I got a job."

She was also interviewed about how she started in radio...

"At first, McKenna was a morning show at an FM station but tired of the early hours and moved into an advertising position. 'Three months into it I was missing it so bad I called my boss and he said, 'You know, we don't have anything for you but there happens to be this talk show - would you be interested in doing this talk show, but we're looking for a conservative.' He thought I was a liberal...it landed in my lap, it literally landed in my lap.'"

...your local shopping mall, try just walking around one of them during the "holiday season" - then shortly thereafter when they all embark on their after holidays pilgrimage for more.

4% (7 of 170) of all the graduates of Patrick Henry college have served as a White House Intern since 1996.

I heard Patrick Henry College's founder being interviewed on NPR's Fresh Air.

Patrick Henry College was formed to serve home-schooled jesus freaks.

http://www.phc.edu /

FYI - this is their "statement of faith"; to which all students, faculty, and staff must sign.

Statement of Faith

The College is, and shall always remain, a Christian institution dedicated to bringing honor and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ in all of its activities. Each Trustee, officer, faculty member and student of the College, as well as such other employees and agents of the College as may be specified by resolution of the Board of Trustees, shall fully and enthusiastically subscribe to the following Statement of Faith:

1. There is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

2. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

3. Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, is God come in the flesh.

4. The Bible in its entirety (all 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) is the inspired word of God, inerrant in its original autographs, and the only infallible and sufficient authority for faith and Christian living.

5. Man is by nature sinful and is inherently in need of salvation, which is exclusively found by faith alone in Jesus Christ and His shed blood.

6. Christ's death provides substitutionary atonement for our sins.

7. Personal salvation comes to mankind by grace through faith.

8. Jesus Christ literally rose bodily from the dead.

9. Jesus Christ literally will come to earth again in the Second Advent.

10. Satan exists as a personal, malevolent being who acts as tempter and accuser, for whom Hell, the place of eternal punishment, was prepared, where all who die outside of Christ shall be confined in conscious torment for eternity.

Today I received this message from our guy that's trying to win back our seat (5th Wisconsin) in the PEOPLE'S HOUSE, Bryan Kennedy:

High Gas Prices net Sensenbrenner over $15k in one day

Congressman Sensenbrenner saw the value of his stock in energy companies increase by over $15,000 yesterday (Thursday, April 27, 2006), while the people he represents are paying record prices at the pump. Bryan Kennedy, his opponent in the upcoming election, is questioning if that is the reason that Sensenbrenner hasn’t shown any leadership in calling for an investigation in the rapidly rising prices at the pump.”

“At about $3 a gallon, many families are really feeling the squeeze at the gas pump,” said Kennedy. “At prices like this, they don’t care about a Congressman’s political party, they want help. It appears that instead of helping the voters he represents, Jim Sensenbrenner is profiting off of them.”

According to a financial disclosure report that Sensenbrenner made, he owns stock in Exxon-Mobile (9728 shares = $8949.76 gain), BP (3604 shares = $4324.80 gain), and Halliburton Co. (2000 shares = $2140.00 gain).

While Berkman peaked my interest in the past, he has become an embarrassment to Wisconsin Public Radio...he's argumentative. Have you noticed how he's the absolute authority on everything? Why bother having guests? Who would call into a program like that? Discussion is a back and forth exchange of "ideas" isn't it?

I think that Ideas Network hosts are the best thing going - the only alternative to the constant ranting and raving of the ever-oppressed pissed off white guys that occupy talk radio all over Wisconsin.

Today's idiotic statement heard on AM 1130 Weber and Dolan show - Weber was preaching about how he doesn't recycle anything.

"This is America by-god and I shouldn't have to wash out my ravioli cans."

Is that what our people are fighting and dying for? Almost 3000 lives lost so this turd-blossom won't ever be required to recycle?

These people say that America represents freedom - but they don't know what freedom means...their version of freedom is simply convenience and lots of choices about how to spend their money.

my own Friday mini-rant

I'm smack dab in the middle of Senselessbrenner country and they told me that I needed a photo ID - even though I've been registerred and voting here for 3 years now.

-figures-

I told them that I didn't need one and proceeded to vote as I'm allowed to by law. They said that this law is changing after the elections on April 4th.

Anybody else hear that?

WTMJ AM 620 this afternoon, just after 3 PM Green was ranting and raving about Islam.
He said that 99 % of Americans are Judeo-Christians, and that muslims want to blow up his car.

Somebody put him out of his misery please!

Riddle me this...what's the chance that a Gen-X er will actually have an opportunity to retire?

The way things are going I know that I'll be forced to continue working just to be able to afford not dying. At this rate healthcare costs will easily outpace my income by the time I get to retirement age - if such a thing exists then.

feeling "glass half empty" today...

Weenergies
Used about 1/3 less gas, but my gas bill is actually a couple pennies more than this time last year. Poor poor Weenergies, they didn't get their nasty cold winter this year - oh well, surely they'll raise rates again next year to hedge their bets against another mild winter. Have to keep their 12% annual profit margin going for their shareholders you know...all the while advertising like crazy when they're the only game in town.

Weenergies does the same thing that the gasoline stations do, only we don't have a choice when it comes to powering our homes.

Another interesting bit...take a closer look at your electricity charges. We work VERY HARD to conserve electricity and this month my electricity charges were $10. $7.50 of that was for facilities, transmission, surcharges, and other junk while my electricity use was only $2.50

goodie!

F. James Sensenbrenner
And I'm quoting heavily from his opening statement during the Clinton Impeachment Hearings.

"…The framers of the Constitution devised an elaborate system of checks and balances to ensure our liberty by making sure that no person, institution or branch of government became so powerful that a tyranny could be established in the United States of America. Impeachment is one of the checks the framers gave the Congress to prevent the executive or judicial branches from becoming corrupt or tyrannical. Today, based upon the evidence that the president lied, obstructed and abused power in an effort to prevent the court from administering equal justice under law, I cast my vote in favor of impeaching William Jefferson Clinton."
