Having heard the original speech that Bush delivered I was unaffected of the specific writing of the speech until I had a chance to truly look over the transcript. To break down the speech into its parts is both simple and completely fractured.

To start there are the lip service sections of the speech. In it the wording is best called lip service conciliatory speech. By themselves they fill a mark that was needed to some level, yet fall far short, as this administration has in the past. The peppering of these humilities are nothing more than platitudes thrown without sincerity can be seen directly in the speech when the subject of the surge is addressed.

Filler is rife in this speech as well, multiple parts of the speech have more than 10 ‘;filler’ words starting sentences. These are rarely anything more than a foolish way to appear more intelligent by stating things the longest possible way without saying anything that anyone doesn’t already know. This filler is heavier around the subjects that skirt near the war.

Of course disaster and the PNAC cheerleader call can’t avoid appearing in the speech with both 9-11 and the appearance of Terrorists show up throughout the speech, insurgents and freedom share strange bedfellows as well.

The strategy laid out in the speech is almost a crime to be termed strategy. It easily comes across identical to the strategy that has already been applied, especially in the light of how those who have disagreed with Bush have been fired or shifted somewhere else.

The quick zinger near the center of the transcript about Iran and Syria though is the part that is most chilling, especially when put in the light of the actions the US has taken in the past 24 hours. A prime example being the Iranian Embassy in Iraq being invade and raided after the speech was delivered.

All in all the best way to describe the overall writing of this speech would be like that of a matador trying to egg on a bull with a red cape; only to be fair one must note that this matador is wearing slippers and doesn’t realize that his sword is made out of rubber.
