Too bad we don't have an "administration day" because I have some choice words.

I myself was too young for Vietnam, too old for Gulf War I (or even II, for that matter), but my dad was an officer in WWII, I have other friends and family serving, and supposedly my great-grandfather fired the first shot on the American side in WWI (but I have no way of verifying this).

Regardless, my dad would have been appalled by this:

I'm not condoning anything Lindh might have done, but I remember being appalled myself at how we treated him, and that he was PARADED around like that. Stripped, as you can see, blindfolded, supposedly transported in a metal container (in the desert!). I remember thinking that this is NOT the America I grew up in.

That should have been a clue to EVERYBODY back then, but we were all caught up in the rah-rah-God-and-Country thing.

It may be presumptuous to speak for my father, especially since I am of an age where I never served, but I know he rarely spoke of his war years (because it was war, and they were awful) but I'm pretty sure he would NOT have abided this shit being done by his country.

You want to honor our veterans? Then conduct this country in a respectable manner. Supporting the troops isn't buying a yellow ribbon, it's honoring what they fought for. THE RIGHT TO SPEAK OUT - DON'T TELL ME TO SHUT UP. THE RIGHT TO BE SAFE. THE RIGHT TO NOT BE EMBARRASSED BY YOUR COUNTRY'S LEADERS!!! THE RIGHT TO BE PROUD TO SAY YOU'RE FROM AMERICA.

Fucking assholes on Pennsylvania Avenue have ruined all of this for us.
