I've only been to countries where they drive on the right, or to Kathmandu, Nepal where they drive wherever the hell they can find room - even the sidewalk.
Somehow this question struck me and I've been wondering about it ever since...
In the U.S., we drive on the right. Generally stores with two doors (supermarkets, malls, whatever) have the entrance on the right. When we get on an escalator, typically the up escalator is on the right. When we walk down a corridor with people streaming in both directions, often (not always, but often) people move forward on the right side of the aisle. When going down a stairwell, we tend to hang to the right.
So, my question is, if you live in (or have spent significant amount of time in) places where they drive on the left, like the U.K., is the reverse true? Is the entrance on the left? Do people stream tending toward the left? Are the up-escalators on the left? If you are in a stairwell, do you hang to the left?
I'd be curious to hear the answers...
