The report’s findings track with similar studies by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, which has found that roughly seven million Americans are abusing prescription drugs. If accurate, that would be an increase of 80 percent in six years and more than the total abusing cocaine, heroin, hallucinogens, Ecstasy and inhalants.

I used to believe that everyone in politics or public service are honest until 1972 when I learned Nixon was covering up his crimes.
If corruption can reach the top of government, which is more rampant today (look at those who have fallen from grace in both
party's in recent years). There are always going to be good apples, but for the most part, everyone is trying to make an easy buck.
As for legalizing drugs improving peoples lives ? Answer me this; how does alcohol improve peoples lives ?

A few hundred billion dollars, over the next 10 years ? What good is that when we need minimum $4 Trillion to dent the deficit ? PAUL KRUGMAN: Yes. I was going to say, there's a false symmetry here. Democrats on the committee and Democrats more generally have actually been willing to offer quite a lot in the way of entitlement cuts. Some people, including myself, were kind of alarmed at how much they were willing to offer. Democrats have been -- there's actually substantial Medicare cuts in t...

How many ballparks have been built at taxpayer cost the past decade ? Big business and the wealthy have no problem getting those projects done because they benefit owners of the teams. Sure it creates jobs for a couple of years, but not close to the amount that's needed for many years. Yet anything that would benefit the rest of us is debated forever like fixing infrastructure around the entire country. When I drive over the bridge leading into the Lincoln Tunnel it is ready to fall. What will t...

On 9/11 we had the world at our doorstep. We had two paths to choose from, one of uniting the world not only behind us to destroy terrorists once and for all as best we could to minimize them
to a low level of manageable concern, or act without thinking as the administration did and we see the consequences of evil acting against evil. Those who saw "opportunities" were in command
and ten years later we still don't know, if we ever will, of the real cost in lives lost, lives shattered by war, no...

It's all politics, and an attempt to return to our founding fathers. You know, those rich, white, aristocracy that ruled and made up the rules;
"All men were created equal." EXCEPT for their slaves. We're a country based in hypocrisy.

It's tempting for anyone to take a piece, and once someone starts, it's a free for all.
Rep. Paul Hodes, D-N.H., claimed that recent college graduates with Republican ties were sent to Iraq instead of experienced government personnel.

Many of the American agents submitted their paperwork only hours before they headed to the airport. Two left Iraq without accounting for $750,000 each, which has never been found.

When will we stand up, march and demand an end ? If ti takes rocks and bottles, so be it. When the world sees tear gas smoke
on our streets, then maybe they'll know ALL Americans don't support this occupation.

See what they did, out in the streets everyday, being arrested for protesting, locking themselves to
corporate and Washington buildings. Organizing marches, rallies, and more demonstrations.
When the Fed Gov. sees us bending over with each bailout to the wealthy and asking for more instead of
standing up and fighting back against these criminals, they will continue and become stronger.
Siting behind a computer asking questions and getting responses like mine do absolutely nothing.

They allow anyone of age to drive to the liquor store, buy a bottle of booze, get back behind the wheel and drink and drive, and we know how that usually ends, the worse case being an innocent life being taken. I'd be interested in the statistics of alcohol and marijuana related car deaths. But the prison system is the culprit here. Too much money to be lost by legalizing it, no matter how much it can help an individual. They're saying they don't care because I have my offshore accounts from t...

That it's US, we're spineless and they take advantage of it. Sure, the senior citizens kept asking him the question repeatedly, but if no one got up into his face and said, "Look, who do you think you are by changing the subject, we asked you a question and if you can't answer it you're essentially saying we're irrelevant and stupid by not answering, you're insulting our intelligence." A person like myself, I would have gone nose to nose and said, "Your trying to punk me with no answer? Do you...

Out of sight, out of mind. If the media pounded the airwaves with the nuclear story, along with the two wars and not this; "Hey world, we're getting rid of a bad man dictator" Libyan war ,maybe the people
would be overwhelmed and start a similar uprising here. One could only wish.

QUOTE:
That worries Rep. David Camp, R-Mich., chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, and a member of the House-Senate supercommittee tasked with finding new deficit cuts. Tax reductions, "no matter how well-intended," will push the deficit higher, making the panel's task that much harder, Camp's office said.
EBD QUOTE;
If "Tax reductions" will push the deficit higher, wouldn't logic dictate that raising them would lower the deficit ? As long as they figure a way to impose tax inc...

We would have never allowed our troops to invade knowing SH had any weapons at all. Can you imagine the nightmare scenario
had 150,000 troops been wiped out with bio-weapons in one shot ? The Idiot Bush, but more importantly, those in the know would
never have allowed that when they wanted an occupation.

After all, the wealthy few who own and call the shots in this country want interest rates to rise ?
Who makes out on the up side when that happens ?
Then, when they are taking more of our wages, they'll figure out what has to be done and
we'll have had a tax increase with cuts in entitlements ?

Do we ever learn anything ?
Just five days before the start of the Berlin conference, more than 400 commercial banks showed that they were capable of orchestrating a significant reduction in Latin American debt. They agreed on a plan that could slash Brazil's $110 billion debt load by $18 billion within five years. Some of the loans will be exchanged for equity stakes in Brazilian businesses. The banks will suffer losses, although technically Brazil did not default on any of its loans. As the b...

They have all grown progressively worse in my time since Eisenhower. I was too young to know him as president but I was aware of JFK and came of age when he was assassinated.
That's when I became interested in the workings of government, and now, years after researching what Eisenhower said about the M.I.C., then seeing JFK trying to bring peace
and sanity to a world filled with M.A.D, but we see what the M.I.C. had to say to him and those who followed into that office. How could these otherwise...
