Just checking - was the sleeping man "asking for it" in this case - or only when people we like condone it that's the case?

He's like the proverbial broken clock - tight on the war, wrong on everything else.
The Nader bunch finally found a crazier standard bearer.

to "absolutely no way" to "didn't i throw my vote away on you already?". So, yeah, a high profile good guy would be nice. If not, my primary vote goes to one of th two I named.

for it....and while in Senate Edwards voted for everything he's declaring he's for now - oh, wait a minute, he didn't. he voted AGAINST everything he's speechifying now - so we have to trust his promises, right?.
I didn't vote for Hillary in her last senate election and won't vote for her in the primary - that IWR thinghie.
But come general elections, I'd have to hold my nose less firmly with the less hypocritical, more competent candidate (Hillary). And, no, I wouldn't think of leaving US just when a Democrat moves in the White House - be that Hillary.
Seems to me people thinking Ron Paul is freedom reincarnate aren't the only idiots around.

Not saying it erases the prior warmongering, but it struck me - out of all who changed tune - he's the first one to say that he contributed to knocking America off balance.
Not even candidates very praised here ever acknowledged the effects of their prior hawkiness....I would never vote for him - should he run for anything, but he still strikes me as a bit more honest than say, IWR sponsor Edwards and his "oops! - I changed my mind I hate the war now that I can't do a thing about it- but if you elect me, I won't end it before 20013"

I recall his interview of the Florida candidate in 2002 I think - when he demanded the Democrat to specify where he'll get the money for any of the proposals while lobbing soft balls at Jeb.
I remember his trying to "get" Wes Clark - because that was the best table turning ever!
Russert had the audacity to ask Clark "Don't you think people will say that you are going to witness at the Milosevic trial to raise your profile in the primaries?"
To which Clark replied "And by "people" you mean - you? then explained how and why one becomes a witness.

Betrayus deserves respect. Uniform doesn't magically make one respectable. Deeds must do that - respect must be EARNED. A bush stooge is a tool, whatever he wears. The ad was not about this tool, but about the lies (White House issued) which keep this war going. Way to miss the point. Here's a real Democrat's - Pete Stark's take on it (he is in congress, BTW):
"I commend MoveOn for their ad and for speaking truth to power," said Stark. "Up is not down, the earth is not flat, and the surge is not working. General Petreaus betrayed his own reputation by standing with George Bush in opposition to the timely withdrawal of all of our brave men and women from Iraq. I thank MoveOn for their patriotic ad and call on Petreaus to help Bush end a war the President should have never started.""

And MoveOn was instrumental in many electoral victories in 2006, so thanks Senator Cronyn for the visit.

"He didn't wait for the answers" - the operatives have been clamoring all day.
Why should he? Whenever did Kerry give a straight answer to anything?
"We didn't have the proof". Guess what, John - that's why investigations are for - to gather proof. SUSPICION is usually enough to start an investigation. I know you suspected it was stolen. Why did you chose to NOT look for proof? Why should this be acceptable?

I remember a Colbert quip right after the 2006 elections: "Democrats have power for only 3 minutes now, and already they have pushed us in the most disastrous war with Iraq"
Even if, say, we'd have a President Gore, of Kuchinich, or Gravel - the MSM would start attacking in November and keep at it as long as realistically possible.
I think the political & military situation that * will leave behind will be messed enough to take the best possible choice some time to untangle.
Watch for the press that was giving Idiot Boy free passes to start becoming anti-war.
And of course, watch this forum attacking in concert with said MSM. By comparison with the new vilified candidate, Bush will seem a quaint little insignificant well meaning guy - and everyone will forget the little detail about his starting the war.
It's my sad prediction - and it's my optimistic one (in the other version, Bush will stay on - or one of their cronies will be installed after another election steal)

Really, Rarbara Boxer & Cheney got in the same bed over this one. It was the battle where we the people lost control over the fate of the war. If I were a Joementum voter, I'd do penance.Or, at least, lots of this
