If you've managed to read this far, read this.
(No F-Bombs I promise)

In another 20 or 30 years, 40 tops, you will pass into history.
Do you know how history will remember you?
Most likely you will remembered foremost as a racist demagogue
who used his god-given "talent" to broadcast hate speech
and political lies for money. A modern day Judas who betrayed
the very people who listened to and trusted you.

Speaking of money, did you know there are no pockets in a burial shroud?
There are no ATM machines in a crematorium. All your material possessions
will go to other people who will pretend to mourn you, but in fact will
rejoice at your death because they got your money.

After you're gone, those who knew you will write tell-all books.
Maybe those ex wives will tell us all about your sexual "problems".
How embarrassing eh? But you won't mind because you will be dead.
The only thing that will take a hit will be your "reputation".
As more and more facts come out, the worse it will get. Descriptions
such as homophobe, pedophile and drug abuser will become a permanent
part of your reputation. But don't worry too much Rush,
eventually you will be forgotten completely. Forever.

One last thing Rush. Just so you'll know.
All the people you rant and rail against. The ones you lie about,
slander and denigrate. They are the people that history will remember long
you are forgotten. FDR, JFK, the Clintons and PRESIDENT Obama to name a few.
Their portraits will hang in the halls of Congress and museums forever.
Yours will end up in a landfill with the rest of the trash.
They will have State funerals with long processions someday.
Your ashes will simply get flushed when the last of your aged
fans mistakes them for used cat litter.

I quit "buying" 10 years ago.
A medical bankruptcy forced me into
a cash and carry lifestyle. I learned to save.
Every dollar of interest I no longer had to pay,
the price of every impulse purchase I couldn't make,
the new car depreciation that never happened,
all the nights on the town that didn't show up
on my waistline,
went into the bank (and my daughters college tuition)
When I got laid off last week I offered up a silent
"thank you" to the faceless bean counters who refused to
negotiate and forced me out of the system 10 years ago.
With a little belt tightening I can last 3 years.
Social Security starts in 2.

I understand your situation. I was on the
edge of broke for nearly 30 years. I failed to "keep up".
I could no longer be a "good" (credit worthy) consumer.
I don't have a "do this or do that" answer for your dilemma.
All I can say is that bankruptcy isn't the end of the world
despite what everyone says. That it "ruins" your life is
the "Big Lie" within the credit card con game.
All it really ruins is your ability to live beyond your means
in a consumer culture that's out of control.

Sure you'll have to save more and consume less but it will
reduce your overall carbon footprint. It may force you to plan
ahead and be more thoughtful about what you do buy and when.
It's quite possible you'll eat healthier because meals from
scratch are a hell of a lot cheaper than frozen, processed crap.
You may experience bouts of increased empathy and gratitude when
you encounter people with even less than you. A sense of accomplishment
happens every time you purchase something special that you've saved up 12 or
18 months to get. It's yours, free and clear. No payments to make.
I find I take better care of my toys because they took a while to get.
Best of all though, the next time the sh*t hits the fan, you'll
have something to live on instead of facing a pile of high interest bills.

Didn't mean to turn this into a rant. I'm still adjusting to full time
vacation mode until the economy improves and not having to panic over bills
until it does.
And now, the sun has returned at last and my paid for carbon
fiber bike awaits.

This Just In!

In a not unexpected change of plans, Fridays announced concession has been delayed until
Saturday to allow Hillary and her supporters to hold a "Group Hug" Friday at a yet to be announced venue.
Event sponsor, Kleenex Inc. announced plans to provide as many as 18 million 2-ply tissues.
Beer for crying in will be provided by Budweezer and Blue Nun Whine will also be served. Cheese is optional.

Update!1!

We've just received word that Saturdays concession speech has been postponed until
Monday to allow Clinton Supporters to begin erecting a "much larger than life" marble
statue of the NY Senator on the Washington Mall. It's expected to be under construction
until February 4, 2012

Wait! Wait!!

We've been informed now that Mondays concession speech will be delayed until Tuesday to
allow Congress to pass a Unanimous Resolution proclaiming Hillary R. Clinton "Woman of the Century"
followed by a trip to the Pentagon where the Joint Chiefs will award her a Purple Heart for the
wounds sustained in Tuzla.

When asked about the endless delays, Campaign Spokesnut Terry McCuckoo said " Some of the
Super Delegates are starting to die of old age so we think there is still a chance"
.
When asked the same question Harold Icky replied " go *(&#$&^@#*%$* yourself".

Future News Flash

This just in !1!1.... A copy of Rupert Murdochs N.Y. Times dated June 5th, 2108 has dropped out
of a quantum worm hole that's formed outside of Rockefeller Center. According to the
front page story, Hillary Clinton, who has been in cryogenic suspended animation since refusing
to concede on this date in 2008, is being thawed out, as per her wishes, to continue her quest for the White House.
Family spokesperson, Clintons grand-daughter and former President, Monica Clinton Kennedy
was quoted as saying "Grandma is going to be pissed"

*cues up Dan Hicks recording of "How Can I Miss You (When You Won't Go Away)".

*exits GDP till 2012

After more than 7 years at DU I've finally reached my 1000th post.
It comes at a time when we are only 10 days away from June 4th and
it comes none too soon. It seems at times that this Primary season
has been going on for years.
Well, the end is finally in sight. Think about it...just 10 days to go.
In 10 days it will be June 4th. The last few States will have had their say
and the will of the people will be known. The uncommitted Super Delegates,
if they have any interest in bringing the Party back together,
will have to speak up quickly and put an end to Clintons scorched earth campaign.
I trust that they will.

As an exercise in patience for that trust, I'm going to refrain from responding to
Hillary supporters for the next 10 days. They can be as delusional,
threatening or angry as they want to be, I'm going to brush it off and laugh to myself.
In 10 days I know they won't have any more excuses for their behavior
The SD's will weigh in, the math will be final.

But, if June 4th comes and goes and Clinton still does not concede or withdraw,
then all bets are off. If after the Super Delegates weigh in and if the math, even including
Michigan and Florida still gives it to Obama and Clinton won't concede, then
we will know several things are true beyond a doubt:

1. She is not really a Democrat
2. It really is all about her ego and lust for power.
3. It's also a proxy fight by the DLC to retain control of the Party and....
4. She's insane.

If such is the case it's going to be a whole new ballgame
for her supporters here at DU.

I'll just patiently wait and see.
Happy waiting.

clothed in wacko fundamentalist sack cloth suits
with a fancy corporate collar and leash.
They'll be wearing ear muffs to help exclude the voters voices
and side blinders to keep them from seeing the bigger picture.
On their heads, a dunce cap for renouncing science.
They don't wear shoes as their feet are firmly planted
in the 17th century and never budge an inch.
They'll look well tanned tho they never see the sun; it's just a stain
from spending the last 8 years up *bushs ass.

They can look at their twisted reflection as long as they want
but one thing they will never see is a human heart.

that they burn each other to the ground by the time
Denver rolls around. (Why wait for the GOP to do it?)

In a deadlocked convention Obama, being offered the VP slot, releases his delegates
on condition they go to anyone BUT: H.R.H. Hillary R. Clinton.
Immediately, a breakout coalition of progressive,
anti-war and environmental Democrats create a Draft Gore voting bloc.
Fully 75% of Obama delegates participate along with a large minority
of "Supers" but the "Draft Gore" movement is still about 100 delegates
short of the magic number.

It looked hopelessly deadlocked until an impassioned speech by Chelsea Clinton
is made in which she commits symbolic matricide and tells her peers that it would not be a woman from her mothers generation that would become the first female President. The "Boomer" moms began the fight for gender equality but it would be their daughters who, much less tainted by the June Cleaver" thinking that their moms were raised in, would take the final step. Realizing the wisdom of trans-generational evolution, more than 5 hundred Hillerites defected.

Nearly 3000 delegates agreed: Restore Gore!
A call was made.
An offer accepted.
A Landslide in November.

Like I said, a political fantasy.

across party lines.

I imagine there are a LOT of disaffected Republicants
who are looking at the Democratic candidates. John Edwards
is the one they like most.
He has faith but doesn't use it as a "prop".
He's faithful to his wife where as the last Democrat, uh, well you know.
He's Not an Ivy League scion, he's real Americana (including the "self made" man narrative).
He's quick witted but not arrogant about it.
He posses an aura of capable well intended "Genuosity".
He's taken up the shield of law and the sword of truth
and done battle with armies of the undead (corporate lawyers)
to win restitution for common citizens who were wrongfully harmed.

John Edwards life is a future "Best Seller" with the best parts
yet to be written. If ever there was an archetype of a "damned near perfect candidate",
John Edwards is it.

If the media actually reported the facts in an unbiased way
John would be the runaway favorite.

Say it all.

"Edwards is a relentless trial lawyer who won his cases by outworking and out-preparing the competition. A trial lawyer wins by persuasion, and Edwards is a superior trial lawyer. Perhaps it is time to have someone with a superior power of persuasion in the White House. ...."

We the people, we the voters are the jury in '08 and the "system" is on trial.
Who do you want to represent "We the People" in the court of public opinion?

Imagine the power of the "bully pulpit" used to rally the American public
in common cause again. Just as Kennedy made us believe we could go to the moon,
I believe John Edwards could rally support and inspire us to become the America we
were promised by the Founding Fathers.

Americas reputation and maybe it's very existence depends on
returning to the rule of law and our Constitution.
What kind of lawyer do you want to lead that fight?
A scholarly lawyer who teaches and lectures?
A corporate lawyer who..well, you know what they do.
Or maybe, just maybe, a trial lawyer who represents people in need?
