I thought I would post the above speech links for the folks that might not have already heard this speech.

There will be a lot of talk from the GOP in the upcoming year about President Obama's religion (of course)
as the GOPers try to paint themselves as The Christians and Obama as 'something else'.

For the DUers that take the time to listen to the speech posted above, I hope ya'll will share your thoughts with us in the comments on this thread

In other news...

Despite the many negative things that I've read all over the internet,
that have been posted about President Obama over the past THREE YEARS,
I have NOT lost my excitement and JOY for The Obama Presidency.

I was four years old when President John F. Kennedy was killed and buried.
I remember the extreme sadness at the loss of President Kennedy the day his memorial service was televised on TV,
while I was sitting on the floor in front of the TV in my grandmother's home.

I never had a feeling of patriotism and HOPE in America UNTIL Obama ran for the presidency of The United States.

Obama is NOT a GOD.
Obama does NOT have the ability to walk on water.
Obama does NOT have a magic wand.
Obama does NOT have rainbows shooting out of his ass.
Obama does NOT ride a unicorn.
Obama is NOT a dictator.
Obama is NOT a perfect 'man'.

But HE is MY president and I am very PROUD of him and PROUD of the things that he has accomplished so far.

When I get into my car and go to vote in November 2012,
I will NOT be only voting for Barack Obama - I will be voting to elect more U.S. House members, U.S. Senate members, and for the opportunity to elect a DEMOCRATIC president that will be appointing additional 'liberal/moderate' Supreme Court Justices - NOT conservative judges!

If WE (progressives) want President Obama to be able to sign MORE bills that will move forward a more progressive agenda the WE must work hard to ensure that a SUPER-MAJORITY is elected into the U.S. Senate and that WE must work hard to TAKE BACK the U.S. House of Representatives!

Come on America - if I (a Texan) can have this much passion regarding our Democratic President, Barack Obama, - then YOU also can do everything within your power to help to get President Obama re-elected!!!

Things to do BEFORE the hurricane hits and before the electricity goes out:

Turn on the dishwasher so that everything in the house is clean.

Be sure to wash all the laundry: clothes, sheets, towels.

Freeze as much water in jugs and containers that you can, the extra ice will help to keep your freezer/fridge colder longer.

Fill up your car(s)/truck(s) with gasoline, and a couple of 5 gallon gas cans (if you have somewhere safe to store them).

If you have a gas grill make sure the propane tank is full, and having an extra spare full tank is a good idea.
Most kitchen stoves/ovens down here in Texas are electric, so having an outdoor grill comes in handy. If you have a couple of cast iron skillets many things can be made on the grill other than the usual burgers, etc. such as eggs/bacon, pancakes, and many other things that can be made in the frying pan.

Gather up all the useful things that you can think of that you'll need, such as:

Lots of extra extension cords and a power strip - if you have a generator.
At least two ice chests/coolers to store ice and food in.
Cases of bottled water, jugs of soda.
A couple boxes of powdered/dry milk, cereal, pancake mix (the kind that says 'just add water'), anything you can think of that doesn't need refrigeration.
Fruit: Apples, bananas, pears, any kind that can be left out at room temperature. Also, dried fruit is a good option.
Canned food such as: chili, stew, soup, etc.
A manual can opener.
Battery operated radio, and tons of BATTERIES.
Candles and/or battery operated lights.
Lighters and matches.
Mosquito spray.
Books, crossword puzzles, and other things that will help keep your mind off of the fact the electricity is off during the daytime.
Make sure you have your prescription drugs filled ahead of time, and also gather up other items usually found in a first-aide kit - such as ibuprofen, band-aids, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, gauze ...
Extra dog/cat food if you have pets.
If your house/apartment is missing any window screens - get a roll or two of screen wire and a big roll of duct tape. The screen wire can be cut with scissors a bit larger than the window and duct taped to the opening. It really helps when it's hot and the AC is not working - and it keeps the bugs out.
Yard bags, a rake, and a chain saw if you have trees.

Edited to add:
FLASHLIGHTS (can't believe I left that one off h/t to the person in the comments that posted that reminder!)
Instant Coffee (thanks to the DUer down below in the comments!)

Note: I am sure that a hundred things are missing from my list, but I hope that at least one person finds something on the list that is helpful.

From Dan Choi's Twitter feed:

Obama: "I have plenty of gay friends. Some work for me. Theyre just inferior to me, and don't deserve marriage. But I'll take their money."

So, apparently he is going to continue to be dishonest.

Raise Your Hand If You're Sick of Dan Choi
Full article and screen shot of Choi's Twitter feed here:

p.s. There is enough 'real' stuff for Choi to be talking about, but his making up and tweeting out of of false Obama quotes goes over the line (example: the third tweet with the Obama quote is completely false). Seems like Choi is trying to diminish his credibility.

1) Folks in Brookfield voted Tuesday.

2) The votes were added up Tuesday evening and the city sent the totals to Kathy Nickolaus the County Clerk Tuesday night.

3) The Brookfield newspaper got the vote totals 'from' the city of Brookfield and posted an article Wednesday.

4) At the County level Kathy Nickolaus realized around noon Wednesday that she didn't have the city of Brookfield in her total for The Waukesha County when she looked at a print out that showed 'all zeros' for the city of Brookfield.

5) Thursday afternoon (before Kathy Nickolaus' press conference) Brookfield CITY Clerk Kris Schmidt said she sent her numbers to the county clerk's office Tuesday night that showed David Prosser with 10,859 votes and JoAnne Kloppenburg with 3,456. She said those numbers did not change in the postmortem she did after the election. "I have no clue what’s going on. she said. "No one has officially told me what’s going on."

6) Thursday late afternoon during the canvassing COUNTY Clerk Kathy Nickolaus held a press conference to try to explain her error of not having Brookfield in county total.

7) Statement Brookfield City Mayor Steve Ponto: “It’s ironic that the vote by the City of Brookfield, which Justice Prosser won with 75%, would have been inadvertently left out of the election count by Waukesha County. That is what we have a vote canvas for and the error was caught. It is important to note that the City’s initial count was confirmed exactly by the City’s own canvas. Our numbers were transmitted accurately to the County. The error was when the County transmitted the numbers to the Associated Press. The City’s voting statistics were correctly posted on the City website on election night.”

It was only a clerical omission error in the 'county total' at the County level - the vote totals at the City of Brookfield have not changed.

Edited to add:
Here's a link to the City of Brookfield's election results page:

and probably the majority of folks that watched it did NOT even know what they were seeing!

Tonight on America's Got Talent Prince Poppycock performed what most people thought was just an America tribute dance routine, but there were MANY 'hidden in sight' messages

Here's the video:

Take note at the 2:24 minute mark when he says:
"We hold these truths to be self evident, all men are created equal, OF COURSE SOME ARE JUST A LITTLE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS!"

Shout outs to look for on the backdrop screen:
Susan B Anthony - women's rights
Rosa Parks - civil rights
Harvey Milk - LGBT rights
And don't miss the photo of Prince PoppyCock's face on the 3 dollar bill? LOL
There's is an old saying "queer as a $3 bill"
and YES Prince Poppycock IS openly gay and he had a great time being himself in the face of an America that doesn't recognize HIS civil rights.

For those of ya'll that haven't been watching America's Got Talent and don't know who Prince Poppycock is - here are a couple of his other performances WITHOUT any 'hidden in sight' messages:
And here is one of his NON-TV club performances NSFW -
